Moves and tricks extracted from www.footbag.org
As always, practice makes perfect – try repeating each move until you can get multiple hacks then begin combining different moves
The four basic moves

* Inside Kick
* Outside Kick
* Toe Kick
* Knee

Advanced tricks

* Toe Delay - stall the bag on top of your foot
* Clipper Kick - kick the bag with the inside of your foot, from behind your support leg
* Inside Delay - stall the bag on the inside of your foot
* Around The World Kick - circle the bag with your foot/leg between toe kicks
* Outside Delay - stall the bag on the outside of your foot
* Flying Inside - an inside kick while in mid-air
* Flying Outside - an outside kick while in mid-air
* Forehead Delay - stall the bag on your forehead
* Knee Delay - stall the bag on your knee
* Flying Clipper (also called Jester) - kick the bag with the inside of your foot, from behind your support leg while in mid-air
* Spin - Spin around between kicks/delays
* Back Stab - behind your back you blindly kick it with the soul of your shoe, over your head again
* Toilet Stall - catch the hack in between your thighs in a sitting position
* Pendulum - stall hack on toe. Bring your foot/leg straight back and launch the bag over your head into play
* Hewy - catch hack in the knee pit (back of knee). Turn and extend leg fully with force and pop the sack back into circle
I feel bad for any hacky player who has to go right after a freestyle footbag player. Can you imagine how that will feel? Geez.

Yes, me and Liam registered a while back and Floyd (got back in NZ two days ago) and Johnny K will also be entering. Saw it advertised on a bus yesterday as well.

I'm sure there will be alot of controversy about if footbag should be done in it, in my opinion hacky and footbag are compleatly different games. The crew up in wellington are strong about the idea of no short shorts etc. If it did end up being an old school hack comp floyd and JK would win without a doubt. We have been playing more hack lately than footbag anyway. But if it ends up being a shred off, I guess we have no choice to do the same :) I think it will depend alot on the kind of judges. Best of luck to everyoneone who enters.

Just a quick word of caution, fellas,

Don't be TOO surprised if this contest has some restrictions on what kind of bags you can use in the contest, as in THEIR bags, and again don't be too surprised if you find that these bags are not at all up to your standards for freestyle footbags.

What makes me say this? I don't know... I think I've heard about this kind of thing before, maybe even from some well-known Kiwi shredders of times past, like Damian Coventry or Adrian Dick. It just all sounds a little familiar...

Hey, I'm just saying, if you are required to use their bags, and their bags are nearly unstallable, just be prepared to do lots of Flyers and Spinning Kicks. Good luck.

Were you able to spread the word about Freestyle Footbag to all the hax0rsz who showed up? I'm hoping you guys did a good job repping the sport and not just showing up, throwing down pwnage, grabbing the cash, getting a few girlies' #s and jetting. Did you get any kids interested in freestyle :?: :P :)

EDIT: Props go without saying, but based on the discussion previously it was pretty obviously you guys were going to roll over this event without breaking a sweat. Good luck in the next round.

Well this ended up basicly being the first NZ nationals we have had in a long long time! The teams from each city were as follows:

Dunedin: Nic and Toby
Christchurch: Phil Morrison and Hanz Feller (bought out of retirement)
Wellington: Johnny Murphy and Liam Johnstone
Palmy North: Some randoms
Hamilton: Some randoms
Auckland: Tobias and Shane

So it was mainly footbaggers that attended. The event was hyped heaps and there were probably a good few hundred people watching!!!

Johnny and Liam won the trip to California with $7000 + 1000$ spending money, Phil and Hanz got 2nd and me and Toby 3rd!

I also got a lot of excellent footage of the event.

The best thing about all this is that we were interviewed by a bunch of major papers and things in auckland and aparently we appeared on national TV several times tonight, I only caught one of the programs we were on (called hyundai sport) and it had me in the opening clip! It was a well edited clear explanation of what footbag is and can be :) I hope it insprires some and gives UpandGo the confidence to repeat this event next year!

PROPS TO ALL THE NZ FOOTBAGGERS!

Any chance of follow-up business in the form of sponsorships / commercial deals etc. with the business that was hosting all this?

Curious, where will Phil be in Cali exactly. He's invited to SD for sure.

Very cool. Props on taking over the comps. How is Shane playing these days? He had a phase of posting a ton on this site and then kinda disappeared. And for clarification, was Hans bRought out of retirement, or bought out of retirement? Either is cool I guess, but the latter seems cooler.

Where/when will Liam come to Cali? I feel like very few people have seen this guy shred, and he really does go hard.

Hi guys, an answer to a few of your questions....

Oh man, this was such a fun compitition.

To start with I don't think hanz has any plans on returning back into hack or footbag. He has 2 kids now and seems to be working quite hard.

Me and Liam have desided to save the trip until I am 21 so we don't have any limitations... bars/drinking etc. This will be around mid November this year. The trip is for 5 days but we are thinking of extending that for around two weeks and just paying for extra accomidation. Both of us are really keen to spend time hanging/kicking with people who are in the area while we are, obviously very early days so don't have anything set in stone yet, we could end up travelling elsewhere in the US.

Cheers, Money

Hey guys. Long time absolutely no post. Took a year off pretty much, School, footbag. Just swum for the whole year and worked. Got me to pretty much everywhere in New Zealand and managed to sponsor me to Australia. But now its full on. I do plan to get full on back into footbag. Keep my swimming on now even better got uni! And 3 jobs! Sweet. Also about the whole whether theres going to be any follow up on this Up & Go thingy, I am working on it. I just need Tobias to get off his fat lazy ass and practice, I don't ride alone.

Glad to hear it went really well guys, and good to hear it ended up being just like a nationals.

Seems like it all went really well. It'd be good to get something similar here in Australia.

Well, mid-november just happens to be my birthday. So, if you decide that is the time you'll be in Cali, you should think about rolling up through Santa Cruz (near San Fransisco) for some good times with the Santa Cruz Footbag Club (Emily, Fletcher, myself, Dustin Rhodes, and many others).
