Re: US Open 2013 June 29-30th
It seems no one is interested in the work I have done on host hotel so far. Reilley was mentioning yesterday that people are still wanting more options. So here you go.
I have called one more hotel: http://www.comfortinn.com/hotel-seattle ... =gglocaloz
This hotel has the desired amenities: free hot breakfast, hot tub, wifi.
It is located on 137th and Aurora. This is very close to where I live on 130th so we can party and shred at my shred quarters or the hotel after hours if we want. You can take 1 bus ride to the event as well, which takes 30-45 minutes (I take it to work everyday). By car, it's about 15 minutes away from the event site.
Rates: For a standard King room its $95.99 for the weekdays and $105.99 for the weekend. For a 2 queen bed room it's $99.99 weekdays and $109.99 weekends (which is for 2 people). They do add on 10 dollars per person if 4 people want to room together for a total of $129.99 for the weekend. Still a fantastic rate and just don't tell them you are bunking 4 to a room and save 20 bucks.
I have to block 10 rooms to get a discount which I don't see being the case so these are just the normal rates, no "key" phrase is necessary. Just book, and book early, as I've mentioned before this is the busy season so it's first come first serve. They also mentioned if you have AAA you get a %10 discount.
Our goal is to have online registration up this week.

I'm sure I speak for many when I say I greatly appreciate all the work you put into hotels. Personally, I think the WAC option looked amazing. I would have totally gone for it if I were going to the event by myself, or if the beds in the suite were in different rooms. My fiancee just didn't want to stay in a room with 2 or more footbag dudes she never met, so the option didn't work for us. But I know how much work is involved in setting things up, and I appreciate your efforts.

Registration is up: http://www.footbag.org/events/show/1360305756
After some debate we decided to force everyone to pay when they register. You will not be able to register without paying the registration fees. While this may be a bit burdensome it will make our event planning much smoother. You will not be able to register at the event either and will have to make sure to do so before registration closes. You have plenty of time and we will send out many reminders.
Sanctioning should be all taken care of as well. I just have a few more guidelines to adhere to to make sure we are following the rules but it has been submitted and is in place.

Ahh the good old WAC. Brings back some fond memories. Of particular note were the bar IN the locker rooms (got to love the US for their convenience and customer service) and the sports bar that had a half dozen felt card tables, poker chips and the like.
Have fun!

Hotels in Seattle that time of year are NOT cheap. Wow. Sucked it up and got a room at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel (Marriott), which is a 4 minute walk from the site. Feels good to lock down lodging though.

This is looking more and more likely to happen than Worlds, sadly. Will know within the week if I will be making definite plans for this instead of Worlds.

Yay, Kotsakos!
Also, thanks for posting the schedule Justin. Definitely makes it easier for participants to plan their tourism/drinking schedules.

Nice, love the color. Is that Mt. Rainier coming out of the footbag?
As for schedule, I'm arriving on Friday at 10 am, and leaving Tuesday at 2:30 pm. I think Friday and Monday are dedicated tourism days, Sunday is dedicated footbag, and Saturday will be a mix for me.
Getting super excited!
PS- Should I bring a rain slicker? Or an umbrella? Or is that over conservative?

When it does rain it's never that bad. It's rare you ever need an umbrella. My hoodie is usually sufficient. Chances are it will be a sunny weekend.
