Nice finds. The next update of the list will really start to look like a legit list. I'm excited for it.

Me too ;)

Sorry about delays. I've resigned from work, which means I have a shit load of stuff to do, so find it hard to justify doing this during work hours, although I'm going to review some records and put them up today. Also my internet is down at home, so I can't do it there. I guess you'll just all have to be patient, but be assured I'll get on to eventually, and almost certainly it will be up to date before the end of the month :P

Ok updating now. Commentary so that I can be clear what I've done and what I haven't :P Note that multiple entries mean that there were subsequent videos of the same record.

Updated as given;

Magellan
Torque
Blurriest
Butterfly Kick
Sidewalk
Diving butterfly
Smudge
Ducking osis
Torque
Spinning Butterfly
Eggbeater
Drifter
Dyno
DLO
Butterfly

Amended and updated;

Reverse Whirl; Either I've gone mental, or that's Ken Somolinos in this video, and not Erik Chan. You would think Ken would know the difference, but apparently not. I've put this record down as being Ken anyway. If I really am mental, and it's not, please correct me :)

Not updated;

Eclipse; Embarresingly I'm unsure what the correct job's notation for this move is, so I'm leaving it off until somebody posts it. I would have said same inside delay> symp op out perhaps? Is this correct?

Stepping SS Clipper (Ken Somolinos - 12). I know this record gets beaten later on anyway, but I'm unsure whether this record should count as 11 or 12. If you watch the video I'm fairly sure there is a leg slop on the 12th stepping clippper. I would lean towards only counting 11, but given that in this case it doesn't matter, I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions on this.

Diving Butterfly (Vasek) - Unfortunately the video cuts between cameras and also has a black spot in the middle of his attempt. Although I'm sure the record is legitimate, I'm only going to put up records if they're in one single take. If you're filmed with multiple cameras, put either one up, or them all up, not a cut of multiples.

Eclipse (Ken - 18). Same issue with Job's, but also I'm only putting this up as 17 when that's confirmed, as the 18th occurs (as I assume the 19th and 20th do) outside of frame.

So records are now up to date until the beginning of page 6.

I am pretty sure that Diving Butterfly (Vasek) is a Guinness World Record.

Regardless if the video representation is clear enough or not is irrelevant as Guinness trumps your list.

It would be a shame not to include an ACTUAL verified world record that is presumably available in paper back form as well.

If this is indeed a Guinness World Record. I could be mistaken.

Thanks,

It is a guiness record, but that's irrelevent because it doesn't meet the standards of this list.

Yeah I'm sorry Damon but the whole point of this list is that it's a list of records you can go and watch for yourself. Vasek's record you can't do that. I'm not saying that I doubt the record, I'm sure he actually did it, it's just that this is a list only of records that are recorded completely on video. If I were to include Vasek's then this would be a different list to what I want.

This really is just a list of records that are captured correctly on video - anything else, no matter how trustworthy or awesome, can't be included.

Indeed at the moment I'm fairly lenient, but in the future I imagine eventually only accepting videos of a high quality where the player does not obscure the bag by facing away from the camera either, and even needing reliable witnesses to verify that it's not a faked and edited video.

The standards we set in what records to accept controls the validity and integrity of the record list.

Yeh its definitely Ken in this video, must have been a typo.

Could the Jobs for Eclipse be:

INSIDE>(NO PLANT WHILE)OP OUT[BOD]>OP CLIP[XBD][DEL]

But that raises the question, how do you show it hasnt actually left the inside surface...?

Set > Same/Op Inside (DEL) > Op Out (DEX)(XBD)

I would Jobs Eclipse something like this. Maybe add somewhere the "no plant while term" but it's for Symposium tricks I believe. Jobs notation just can't be useful for all the weird Footbag tricks...

Bunch of thoughts:

1. I posted a ton of videos of myself, mostly just to get the ball rolling on the project. I didn't spend a lot of time reviewing them, so I wouldn't be surprised if my count was off by one or two for a few of the records. With the eclipse record, I know the last few were off camera, and wouldn't count them. Like I said before, I wasn't super rigorous when counting the ones that were on camera.

2. If there is a slop in a trick, I wouldn't count it for this list. I'm at work now so I can't verify, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was one. I'd vote for a slopped trick to not count for a record.

3. RE: guiness vs. this list. If it's not all on video in one continuous take, then it doesn't meet the criteria of this list. If it makes anybody feel better, I'll try and break the diving butterfly record once my neck heals up. 28 isn't that many.

4. I'm not really sure about the job's notation for eclipse either. That said, I would argue that the trick does not have a dex in it. It definitely has at least one body in it for the jump, and a delay add as well, since it is like a jumping inside delay.

hmmmm ....

Seems a bit hokey to me not to include an actual World Record, but whatever.

Guess I will go out and film 8 hours of consecutive inside kicks to prove my point. LOL

This list is no more relevant than Lonn's if you are providing such strict criteria.

I understand your point and what you are intending. Just not very valid considering that there are governing bodies for this outside of footbag to provide all the necessities that you are trying to enforce.

That said - anyone that would actually like a record published for the World to recognize outside of footbag will have to prove it again in person.

Maybe the criteria (to be valid) should be provided in person at World's or any IFPA sanctioned event, as well as, video shot at those events in order to validate a World Record.

Otherwise - these are pointless given that the video could indeed be faked or edited. Not that I believe anyone would try this given the amount of flak they would receive from the community.

Not bagging on your list Jeremy - I think this is a wonderful idea, just a bit too strict given the informal nature of submitted video currently.
