Brian Moeller has a blog!

Post by MaelstromEx » 16 Aug 2005 15:48

Well Zach convinced me to do a footblog so what better day to do it then the awesome 18th birthday. Anyway, after a late start (12pm) Zach and i went public hacking out at the mall to hopefully turn some heads. Which we did but it was hot as a crock pot so we went to the cooly shaded park instead. Zach hit....spinning refraction? i think thats right but if you're reading this check his blog to make sure. I hit whirl both sides *finally* and Paste both sides along with a footed double in to out around the world.

Sore shin, sore knee, but screw that it was one heck of a productive day.

By the Way my name is Brian and if you'd like to welcome me to this wingdinger of a footblog community feel free to post in here, i promise i wont flame at you. :D

Note: Sorry about that, i misread a move list horribly and hit paste, not omelette, i sincerely apologize....someday though

Happy birthday! Now you can finally vote for the most powerful man in the world, buy assault rifles, buy tobacco, and drive a car. I`d buy you a beer, but that`d be illegal.

Props on omellette, thats a real hard trick. Do you do shin exercises? There are some good stretches on flipsider.com and the health section on this site, which can totally eliminate shin splints. Probably worth your time.

Good luck in footbag and the blog.

Ahhh another run at a session in the park today and it started slow, since there were alot of people around and it felt akward playing music. I dont know how often anyone else goes without hacking to music but i find it hard to get into any rhythm. After that it went into a purely building up the basics session, improving my whirls, and flipside high pixies. Highlight is probably that i was able to hit butterfly into whirl and whirl out into pdx illusion so that move worked its way into combo's pretty dern fast. I had once person stop and tell me the tricks looked cool and walked off, then two other people watched from a distance until i kneed myself in the face on an attempted flipside high pixie. It felt like i just got out of the dentists chair, my face was so numb i was drooling heh. And i almost hit phoenix again but i failed numerous times.

Last night was a blast (sorry to go out of order) playing chess against Zach, Jeremy and Ken, although i suck at chess, maybe i could beat Jeremy :) but i dont know, another day perhaps.

I'm gonna expect you to hit butterfly > whirl and whirl > paradox illusion on your flipside tomorrow. ^_^ DO NOT FAIL ME, ADMIRAL.

Well today Zach and I made another run at the park, and in the start we were both pretty bad, however then i hit pixie refraction and he hit some cool stuff too *read it in his blog* and i also hit another phoenix. After awhile of kicking a car pulled up, i dont know how zach was reacting but i was giddy cause no one EVER stops to watch us. It was even better though, a local reporter for the newspaper came by cause he thought it looked cool. In return we told him everything we know about footbag. He seemed excited and got a cameraman. Probably the best thing that could've happened in our quest to promote footbag in our community so heres some props to Dan Young (Cameraman) and more importantly Matt Conn (Reporter). We also got him his first add (a toe stall). We also gave mention to modified.ca, footbag.org and hackrifice.com. i hit both sides whirls in a single run and a phoenix footed for the cameraman, while zach hit a torque among other things for the camera. After i was able to hit ducking pdx mirage both sides, and zach hit zulu osis both sides. A VERY PRODUCTIVE day if i do say so.

Oh yeah, and last night i ordered my first abshire mini so i'm pumped about that....til i post again tomorrow

Well today was a slow day, waking up at noon playing some halo 2, then i read the article in the paper, it was pretty good and i enjoyed the pictures, if you wanna read the article about us look for Zach's (Sandwraith's) blog and he's posting i believe. Then on to my session...i set out to achieve a few goals.

-Try Pigbeater (with some work on pdx dbl leg over i can get that odd legover motion down for my strong side and with higher flipside pixies with some work on the eggbeater (i.e. hitting it) it'll come eventually, but i tried it)

-Hit Toe Whirl both sides (Fact of the matter is i kept trying and i got the form down closer and closer but i couldn't hit it either side...yet)

-Go back to basics with Flipside (I hit diving clipper flipside, and almost hit pdx double leg over flipside a few times, no clue why i cant hit it. And i also hit Smudge flipside)

Wasnt a terrible session considering i felt a little sick to my stomach, perhaps a 5 or 6 out of 10.

not to hijack your blog but in my defense what i really care about is strings, tricks have the wow factor for sure, but its the strings that count if you ask me. as for my things like my sailing mirage and my flip legbeater (i hit flip tapdown for the first time tonight) certain things develop faster for me than others, and it all really has to do with what i work on, if i forget to drill something, it doesnt get better, hell ive hit things that i cant believe i hit, but it doesnt matter that much to me because i only try hard stuff when my strings arent working.

and the reason i asked him to post some strings is because it isnt like he is posting that he hit mirage or legover for the first time, he's hitting some pretty hard stuff, so id be interested to see what his trick choice is for stringing.

Not to hijack my blog back to avoid heated tension but today i went out to the park and if you read zachs blog it sums it up...
WORST
SESSION
EVER

Just couldnt hit much...although i hit a string with ducking pdx mirage and whirl in it.

Note: The reason i dont post strings is cause i usually hack mid day and by the time i post in here i dont remember my strings move for move but rest assured i am working on strings above all else. thanks for reading my blog and all advice is appreciated :)

Thanks for posting zach its appreciated even if its a cry to check out your blog..heh

Today i was determined to take the day off after that horrible shred yesterday, but after awhile i got bored...i tooled around i read the vasek vs. Lon, and i watched a video with all clipper sets. Then i couldnt help myself i had to kick i was so amped up to try and nail a kickass string.

So my session started slow but strong and i eventually started hitting some 4-5 move strings. Really improved my diving to ducking on both sides woo woo. And as of today i'm gonna post by Run of the Day also known as ROTD so here goes, due to posting on my blog requesting it :D

ROTD: Pixie Same Clip > Ducking Butterfly > Far Legover > Butterfly > Whirl > Osis > Ducking Pdx Mirage (footed then dropped)

I also hit diving butterfly on my strong side once but i'll practice that another time. Comments appreciated!

Well out to the park zach and i went...since zach doesn't get challenged he took up pauls challenge too. Enfuriating for zach cause he wasn't stringing on the cement and enfuriating for me because i could anywhere near the mark of twenty without going over it's like i was on the price is right. I hit 3 15 contact, 2 16 contact, 1 17 contact, and 1 18 contact tiltless run. So we took a break and tried some stuff like 1 add>2add>3add>4 add and crazy stuff like that. Finally near the end i hit it the ROTD

ROTD: 21 contact tiltless run

I also had another strong run that included whirl, ducking butterfly, and ducking mirage but i dont remember the in between. Great Challenge Paul, alot of fun and really improved my endurance. Overall this was a decent session getting a solid 7 out of 10.

Also after i started to learn how to stitch.....buttons that is....but then learned how to sew fabric and since i couldn't find a template i am making a 4 panel template.

Sorry i hadn't posted in awhile but i kinda forgot about the blog for a bit. Yesterday i had a pretty bad session with Zach, who had an awesome session at the zoo (an odd place to kick but hey). Then he headed off to college and it was muy triste. I also strained my groin (not by wanking off) and i thought it had healed up but it felt strained again yesterday so today i took a full day off. Played a full game of civilization II from beginning to end. I never imagined the emporer of japan poisoning the water of rome until the city became a barren wasteland in his final hours as the ruler of japan but thats how it played out. Still alot of fun and i cant wait to go to college and to kick tomorrow. Too bad i don't leave for college until Sunday.

...and you probably will strain it again tonight at your computer after your parents go to bed. :P

Keep kicking cause if you don't you'll SUCK at the Xmas Jam and everyone will LAUGH AT YOU. o_0

(p.s. the inn we're staying at has wireless internet. this is so cool ^_^)

I totally went out to the park today and tried to pick up where i left off three days ago. I started off well and i felt like my kicking was the best it had been in awhile, however i had my new abshire mini which wasn't quite broken in so strings were damn near impossible. I did kicks for the first half hour and i think it helped break it in alot and eventually i tried strings and then pressed on to moves cause i couldn't nail anything. I did learn a few new moves however.

Parkwalk (Strong side)
Dbl ATW in to out (Strong side)
Diving osis (both sides)

I also had some SEVERE problems with my flipside osis and i needed some work on it. So i but in a strong half hour on the osis and it greatly helped it, leading me to my Run of the Day.

ROTD: Osisx6
Note: I know, not amazing but not half bad considering its a new record for me, it's a new bag, and my flipside osis was going down the tank

A long hiatus without posting but i finally did it, I HAVE INTERNET! I moved in on Sunday and after all that shit was done i didn't even bother with my computer. Later that night it didnt connect to the network, but this dorm has turned out to be a real pad. I found a sweet spot to kick right between WitteB and Ogg hall. I kicked today but ran out of water and had to buy some more so a very short session and with such a long break i provided no real awesome moves, just did some basics to get back into it. Its not stressful at all (cause we have no classes) and it already feels like home. However i'm in the substance free dorm and alcohol is a large pressure here, it'd be like if every homeless guy on the street offered you a cigarette, more of an annoyance than a pressure. But college life is good and hopefully i can get back into a kicking routine. Thats all for now from Madison Wisconsin.
