New Years Jam 2006

Post by CIC flurry » 10 Sep 2006 20:42

7th Annual New Year's Jam - December 28-30
Chicago, Illinois, USA

* Check this post often for updates

Info
The event takes place in a big convention center. They have the auto shows there every year too. The place is packed with every kind of sport out there, and you can try them; there are a lot that are interactive. Tens of thousands of people come through there.

The last few years we have been developing an awesome event. It has become a must-attend event. We've had a lot of notable people come out, and good turnouts (50+). There is always lots and lots of fun, especially at night - parties and night jams! - in the vast expanse of McCormick Place.

The jam happens in between Christmas and New Years Eve, so don't worry about missing your family on the actual holidays. Though we are planning something for New Year's Eve for those that are sticking around.

This is the second year CIC will be coordinating the event. Last year turned out great and has set up this year to be bigger and better. We'll also be coordinating food, to let you experience some fine chicago cuisine (Giordano's!). Also there will be a pancake feast in our suite for at least one of the mornings.

Festival Website: Holiday Sports Festival

Events: mostly a JAM as the name implies.
4 square is going to be very important. We're expecting some of the best squares players to come and compete for ultimate recognition. World Champs of 4 square?
Tentative Schedule:
  • -Day 1: Sick 1/3
-Night 1: Lottery Combo, Horse, orange peeling contest
-Day 2: 4 Square, Circle Comp
-Day 3: Rippin Run, Mirage Olympics (race, relay race, high jump, long jump, dizzy race, long pass, slalom)
    -Whenever: Crotchfire
Shirts: Zeke is making some,
Image

Scott is making some,
Image

and Kolo is bringing some.

Footbags: Lots of stitchers/vendors coming, so save your pennies.

Hotel: Hyatt McCormick (312-567-1234)
http://mccormickplace.hyatt.com

The hotel is huge and fancy. The convention center where all the sports will be is attached to the hotel. You don't have to drive to the jam. Just wake up and walk on over through the hotel. Rates are discounted for us - $83 (normally $200-300). Mention "Mayor Daley's Holiday Sports Festival" for the discount.

There are thousands of people that are coming for their respective sports, and the hotel may sell out; don't wait till last minute! CIC is getting a suite. Contact us if you need floor space and we'll try to accomodate you.

X MAS Jam, US open, New Years Jam. I wish there'd be a consistant name, but anyways... I've been PUMPED ever since the last event ended. So yeah, I'll definitely be putting full efforts to making it back. I've been tellin everyone I know to try to make it. Hopefully some of my hyping effort will pay off once it comes around. I can easily say the past NYJ event was the 2nd best event I've been to, the first would be 2004 Worlds in Montreal. Start savin up your plasma money kids, and learn how to jump start cars. That or save your money & figure a legal way to get there, and we shal shred & party it up like it's motha fuckin 1999 !!!
More C4 please <3

We are also running a fun event on Friday called "All Shred" that will ensure that all entrants get
to shred with all of our top professionals, including many BAP members. We will have "organized
shred circles" with 1 pro per circle and a rotation schedule, with loud music and fun for all.
That is weird. I encourage everyone to call the event New Years Jam. I'm going to try my best to make it to this event.

That basic idea is in the event listing every year, don't worry about it.

does that mean you'll celebrate new years on a plane? that'd be pretty nuts.

im not editing that because on the footbag.org event listing it says exactly who is hosting it and what the title of the jam is. ive already changed the name of this thread once.... im just going by what scott gave me. dont get mad at me for going by what was given to me.

all i know is that im going and no matter what it is technically named or who is technically hosting it... its still going to be phat as hell because super rad people will be there.

If there isn't a jam in Rochester/Fredonia, I might consider going to this event. I really want to check out the venue, and see HooD wipe the floor with HenryG. :P

Theres a strong history of repeat attendees at this event. Be there and you can find out why 8)
- I wont be surprised if the dates are wrong because I looked on Chicago's website and they have the 2007 holiday sports festival on dec 28-30.
