Thanks for that. I'm the exact same way with my mental game and get really discouraged by other people's progress. Hearing that has put things in perspective. Also, about stepping, I find that what helps is a combination of a couple things: a very straight back, a deep delay (while having a straight back), a fast dex, and a close-to-pogo dex, like in atomic. There are a lot of similar concepts in atomic and stepping. I'm close to where you are with stepping and have the same problems, and that's what's helped me.

Peace,

3:41, restate hypothesis:

In order to master more advanced concepts in footbag, one must first master the basics.

Evidence:
All of the best & most controlled players have their basics dialed.

Goals:
100 consecutive clippers each side

3:43, press return.

I have made a sacred oath to myself that I will play 30 days in a row. I know for a fact that I make the most progress when I play a bunch of consecutive days. This challenge that I have made for myself will make sure that I don't continue slacking off like I have been for the past 2 months or so. I have been playing, but not enough consecutive days. So far, I'm up to 4 consecutive days, and I'm feeling great. I hit 50 consecutive flipside clippers, and a really nice matador today. Oh yea, and I'm shredding with Dan Kloklow in South Beach Miami this weekend!! Thanks to Jorden Moir for making that post about how important it is to keep focused when you are a solo shredder. The only reason why I hit that matador was because of that post. This trick isn't that hard for me, but I hadn't hit it hat side simply because I didn't give enough attempts at it. Today, we spell redemption; A-L-E-X.

I'm having trouble doing the following: staying focused, being motivated, being injury free. I think I'm going to take some time off, maybe a week or two, maybe even a month or so. I don't want to lose my love for the game, so I'm just gonna let myself relax until I become inspired again. Not sure if I'm gonna go to that tournament this weekend. And if I go, I'm not sure if I'm going to play. I hope I can get motivated again but as of right now I don't have the drive to shred.

well it's been a while, and I must say it's been wonderful. Taking this time off was such a good idea! I haven't been playing in over a month, but today I did! It was so amazing. My knee didn't hurt! I wasn't playing guiltless but I didn't care because just playing without pain was absolutely incredible. I even hit some cool combos and single tricks. Dam it feels good to play. The real test with my knee will be later today when my body has cooled down. If it doesn't bother me, then I think I will be able to play regularly again as long as I don't do too many pixie sets. Oh man, I was sweating and hitting tricks, and having a ball. And on top of that, I'm booking my tickets for worlds any day now! Yee hawww

today I just tested my knee out by putting pressure on it. Alas, it hurts  Its not bad, but its the same old distinct stabbing pain in that middle tendon right below the knee cap. I wonder if it hurts because it wasn't used to shredding, if the injury never healed, if its just stiffness, all of the above, none of the above.... Ugh, I can't stand how its not getting better, its just this nagging pain in my knee that doesn;t want to go away. I take such good care of it. Before i kicked yesterday I warmed up with some kicks, toe stalls, squats, stretching, and then light shred. I played pretty lightly for the whole session and wore my knee brace (just like the one honza wears), then cooled down with a walk, wrapped my knee in ice held there with an ace bandage, and elevated it for like 20 minutes. But how does my body reward me? It doesnt freakin heal. I have so many questions about my knee.... is it the lavers? is it due to footbag? is it going to heal? if so, how long? ugh, I just hate it because I don't want to play on it a cause a problem that will prevent me from ever playing again. I think I'm going to get an MRI of my knee to see whats up. I bet you they dont even find anything wrong with it, thats what happened when I went for the first time when it started to bother me a year ago (but I didn't take an MRI then). crap

HA! played today without a knee brace with ZERO pain. I cant stress how much of a breakthrough this is... I was doing pixie sets, whirls, double downs, the works! I even hit a symp whirl 2nd try on my bad knee without pain. I can't put it into words why exactly I'm playing without pain, but I know the reason. What I did was, I changed the tempo of my play. It may not make sense to someone reading this, but I used to pump my legs into the ground every time I landed. this is COMPLETELY unecessary, and I believe its the reason why my knee was hurting. If I have no pain tomorrow, then I will be so happy that I think I will eat all of the bread in my house before Passover breaks out 8)

so I watched some old videos that I made a few years ago. Those were good times. I have been kicking a lot lately. Finals are over, all I have to do is hand in this 15-20 page paper tomorrow and I'll be home free. I'm really looking forward to worlds. I'm going to try and skool like woah so that I can have a good time in the circles, and not worry about sucking. I miss making videos, but my laptop doesnt have a firewire port... maybe I will fix that over the summer. Is there anyone out there that used to like my videos? Its funny, I went to Sam Potter's house last year before US open. He had a vid I made of Bevier, and told me that he really liked it. It was the first time I ever saw like, the fruits of my labor on somebody elses computer. Holla. I lost all of my old videos because my computer at home crashed. Anyway, I don't know why I posted in my old blog, except that I've been in the freestyle mentality lately.
