you should all be hearing from paolo shortly. we have arranged a place for all of you to stay friday night that is right next to the rote fabrik (GZ Wollishofen for all who've been to the FJ before). we will also organize (relatively) cheap beer for all of you who do not bring their own supply from home.
concerning food you will have to take care of that yourself. there is a grill available at the place however and we'll arrange for some coal to be there. but i suggest you all bring some stuff along from home, cos meat is about the most expensive thing in switzerland. and we don't want you guys running out of money and being unable to pay your registration fee on saturday:)
i'll be posting the pre registration results next monday, we're up to about 110 right now.

Last Minute Infos for the FootJam05 in Zürich!
Hello everybody! This is the last you will hear from us until Saturday, when the big action starts.
I would like to remind all of you of a few points that are important to us and the smooth running of the tournament, so please read this carefully and pass it on to everybody who hasn’t registered online. Thanks!
1. Online registration is closed (110 pre registered players!). Late registration is possible on site, but open players that have not pre registered have to pay CHF 10,- extra for their 1 year ifpa membership.
2. All freestyle players have to confirm their registration on site BEFORE 11 a.m. on Saturday! Since we’re expecting about 150 registrations total, we ask you to be at the site to register well before 10 a.m. so we don’t get any time problems.
3. All net players have time until 4 p.m. on Saturday to register or confirm their registration.
4. There will be no discussions at the registration desk! Registration fee is CHF 30,- for all pre registered players and all intermediate players and CHF 40,- for all open players that have not pre registered. Registration includes a 1 year ifpa membership.
5. Only pre registered players have been seeded for the tournament. All late registrants will be added to the bottom of the seeding list (without exception).
6. We are on a very, very tight schedule this year! So please, once on site inform yourself about the timeline and which events happen when and where and be punctual and on time for your registered events. We are not able to wait for anybody this year. If you don’t show up on stage or court when your name is called, you will be scratched immediately.
7. Like last year we will have a lot of kids and parents on site. Also we are expecting a lot of media presence. So please, if you smoke (cigarettes or anything else) and or drink alcohol try not to do it in public.
8. As there will be a multitude of cameras on site this year, we have to be very restrictive as to who is allowed on stage or back stage with a camera. Please repect our decisions without discussion.
9. Backstage area on Saturday is closed this year to anyone who is not in the semifinals or finals!!!
10. Flipsider is producing the documentary of this years FootJam. Please collaborate with them if they need your assisatance and follow their directions.
11. FOOTJAM IS CELEBRATING ITS 5th ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR. WE HOPE TO MAKE IT SOMETHING EXTRA SPECIAL FOR YOU AND THE AUDIENCE. At some points we might need your help and cooperation.
OK, that was a lot of serious stuff. But if we get all these things straight and everything works as planned, the FootJam05 wil be everything you expect, and more:)
From the organizers point of view, everything is ready or nearly so and we’re all excited to see you. We hope you’ll have as much fun as the last years and that the FootJam05 will again be an unforgettable experience for you and especially for the audience.
On behalf of the whole FootJam Crew!

FootJam05 Video Shoot
Hey footjam goers,
Sorry for not writing to more of you directly. I'm really pressed for time. I'm writing to let you know that I'm shooting a real documentary from this year's footjam, and I will be collecting a ton of interviews and footage over the weekend. Please be ready for me to pull you aside and ask you questions. I won't be interviewing everyone, not even close. I will probably select about 10-15 and really go deep into what footbag is to you. You don't have to do or say anything to please me; I'm not trying to convince an audience that footbag is cool. It's my goal to show what footbag is from the perspective of a few players- love it or hate it, train hard or slack off, whatever, it's your story I want to tell!
If anyone especially wants to be in the video, you are welcome to come talk to me, earlier the better, or email me by late Tuesday night. You don't have to be a top level player to be interesting! Everyone in footbag IS footbag, and I want a diverse ensemble. Also, if you will be in Zurich Thursday or Friday during the day, please let me or Jan know asap, so I can get an early start on the shoot. Thanks!
See you in Zurich!!!

man, footjam is like the documentary competition! u.nanim at 04, flipsider at 05, who'll do one on 06? i personally can't think of a competition that is better run, or has a greater sense of community than footjam, so it makes perfect sense!
there are a few names that aren't on that list that surprised me...
Max Kerkoff(sp?)
Paul Cronjeager
Ales Zelinka
Jan Weber
i hope those guys show up, even if they don't compete!!!
one name in particular stands out: Eric Wulff! cool, i wasn't sure if he and carol would be coming together or not. awesome!
edit: just noticed Jacob Wagner isn't listed! looks like the door will be open for the golf!

Wow a MASSIVE thanks to Jan for putting on such an awesome awesome event. Everything was so well run and organised, went without a hitch i think. Finals show was off tha hook, great entertainment and atmosphere and crowds, it was sweet!
I was really disappointed to have to leave so early from the event, but there wasnt much i could do. I hope the players party and shred went well yesterday and today!
Thanks to everyone who was there and was cool to me; there were many people i didnt get to meet or shred with but hopefully i will get the chance sometime in the near future. I met some really cool people this weekend, hope we can get together soon!
Oh, did anyone playing on the athletics track on Sunday, find a dark blue 32 panel footbag on the grass? I left it there
when i finished playing in a circle with Lise, Nikolai and Verena. It was right next to where Hania was sitting on the grass. Did anyone see it/pick it up by any chance? I know its a bit unlikely....
Unfortunately i cant report too much on what insane shred went down because not much shred happened on Saturday due to competition, then Golf was on Sunday and i left before that night and Monday.
Routines: Vaska won with an awesome routine, same music as his most recent routines but with some new moves and such. I think in Semis he hit Janiwalker and Sunilwalker, Ripped Warrior etc during his routine. In Finals he dropped only on the very last move (Superfly after like, 3 or 4 fearless contacts
) The crowd was really psyched for his routine and went off at the end, it was sweet.
Felix had an awesome Preliminary routine, only 2 drops i think and moves like Whirr
and Ripstein, aswell as awesome spinning links and general domination. Finals was maybe not what he was hoping for but it was still very awesome and he placed 3rd this year. I thought he would be a good shot for second place but Renato Zulli took it! It was a surprise to me (and a surprise to him aswell he told me!) but he definately deserved it, he has awesome casual style and put on a really good performance with very minimal drops.
Im not quite clear on the rest of the placings but the 8 finalists were Vaska, Felix, Renato Zulli, Karim Daouk, Frank Remy, Stefan Siegert, Sam Hufschmid and i think Sergio from France?
Womens freestyle was awesome this year, the level of playing is really high and there were i think 11 competitors! Tina Aeberli took out the Finals with an awesome routine, shuffle all over and good choreography. She finished with Blurry Whirl on the beat and the crowd went crazy!
She has awesome form and some great moves. I saw her hit Symp Whirling Swirl and had to ask someone if i had seen what i thought i did! Blurry whirl>Blurry whirl...She said she has also hit Blurry Whirling Swirl
At 15 y.o she will definitely dominate from now on.
Verena came second this year with another awesome routine, she goes hard all the time with wicked shuffle and torques etc. im jealous of her ankles! I am pretty sure that Isabelle Widmer took out 3rd place.
The womens freestyle was awesome to watch, i really wish we had more girls playing in Australia. They put on great performances to the crowd on Saturday and stuff and there is heaps of energy on the stage, it was really good!
As far as shred i mostly only have gossip i heard about from others. Felix hit Whirring Swirl mid-run on Friday while Kenny was watching, pretty cool! Also something like 7 consec Whirrs
He and Vaska were backstage at Finals trying some heinous combos i heard, like Gauntlet>Gauntlet and Barroque>Gauntlet. Shit i wish i was allowed back there!
I wont let this post get too detailed and more like a blog, so thats about all i can say about the shred. The weekend was sweet as, so well organised, great weather and location and awesome people. I hope i get to catch up with everyone soon, and get people to sign my poster too!
Cheers

Cheers for the post Ian!!
From everything I've heard recently it sounds like Tina Aeberli is going to be an amazing force in footbag. Some of the combos I've heard her hitting are amazing! I've only seen one video where she hits something like blur>dimwalk>ripwalk>blurry whirl> whirl> symp whirl>whirling swirl - don't know if that's right - but it was huge.
Anyway thanks again for the report - great to here how it was going!

I have 4-5 tapes of footage - expect a Footjam movie somewhen in the
near future...
Footjam was easily the best tournament EVER. I have to sleep now.

Massive Props go to the army of organisers (I heard that there were close to 100 people in the organising team). Jan really pulled off what was the BEST ever footbag comp I have been to. Better than the big Euros / Worlds, footjam really takes it.
Massive thumbs up for having a golf comp throughout Zurich too: I finally got to see a little bit of the city!
