I might be wrong, but it doesn't seem like David is here or has a blog so you can tell him what to do or yell at him randomly. But again, that might just be my take on it.

Edit: Sorry to take the top of the page with a junk post, David.

Thanks for the lookout. I know Sam is just trying to be positive and inspiring in his own way.

Blog,

It’s been a while. This thing hit 60,000 views the other day I think, pretty crazy stat I think, at least for a footbag blog on a site with only a couple hundred frequenters.

Well, since my last post I have been doing the usual which consists of mostly school work, a but more stitching to pay for my New Orleans trip (I’m going to the American Marketing Assocation’s yearly conference with school). I’ve been doing a bit of magic, a bit of footbag, and just hanging out. I am pretty much with this one girl here. Don’t know if I’ve mentioned that in here before. She is great.

I am not very happy overall though. I don’t like my classes and I wish I was making more positive impact on the world. I feel like I live in a little snow globe here at college, like I’m out of touch with the rest of the world. I only hear little bits about things from my parents and such. Maybe I should read the paper more.

My uncle almost passed the other day. My parents went to visit him (6 hours from home) and stopped here to visit me tonight (3 hours in). We went out to dinner. They think I’m depressed which is weird. Sometimes I wonder if I am, but those are only in those 2 a.m moments when things really get to me.

Footbag is weird these days. I played like total ass the past two weeks, but had a good session the other day (which is what that video in the vid section stems from). Its funny, that video is like the best session I’ve had in a long time but it didn’t really make much of a splash on this forum. I think it might be because people expect big stuff from me so when I hit it there isn’t really any reason to comment. I don’t know, I was just really happy with like double spin whirl>ripwalk, the first jackpot caught on tape, alpine fog bsos, etc. Maybe I should have higher standards for myself or something. Or maybe people on this forum don’t know what’s hard because they can’t hit half the tricks. Just kidding!

I tried to stay up for 24 hours in a row Friday night. I got to 22 and fell asleep. I’ll try again soon.

I have nothing else to say.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

about the comment you made about the your classes and not making an impact on the world.

The first two years of college are pretty much just to get stuff done. you may get some good opportunities here and there, like you were talking about new Orleans. Once you finish the first two years of school, its when you get to start the really interesting stuff and really tune your major to your liking. I just got to that point in my education. Im in Landscape Architecture, and my first junior year semester was so much different then previous years. so hang in there and do some research for later semesters. Also, living off campus in a house is so much nicer than being crammed into dorms...and cheaper as well.

Average 19/20 year olds do not mope around and think thet their life sucks. Most late teens are happy with what they do and feel like their lives are fulfilling. If your parents feel you are depressed, and if you cannot positively affirm that you are NOT depressed, you might want to take advantage of some of the mental health/campus health resources at your university to find out more about why you feel the way you do.

My best friend in college started to feel some weird thoughts, seemed to be getting depressed, and then completely lost it. he thought people were out to kill him, leaving him signs around the campus, spreading false messages, etc. Turns out he developed paranoid schitzophrenia and has been suffering terrible psychosis (auditory and visual), which he is managing with medication, since that time.

Serious yo, go talk to somebody.

DC ain't shizo! It's hard being the best, thats all.

When I think of all the despressive thoughts I have, a majority of them stem from footbag, actually. For instance, things that get me are like: the fact that I'm the only player in Iowa, let alone Iowa City. The fact everyone thinks its weird. The fact I can't talk about it with my friends. The fact nobody really gives a shit. The fact I'm never good enough. The fact nobody can tell a legover from a atomsmasher. These are things that definately didn't depress me before I started.

Do you know Zappa?
To me, you are like the Zappa of Footbag. Straight-edge, technically virtuous and all-around impossible to lable. Alright, Zappa was Zappa.

Here is Zappa changing the world beyond his one already mastered skill:

So Chris Miller cleverly disguised his feelings beneath his "brag>self pity>footbag repeat" thing. He later told me how he felt about my post. I learned from what he had to say.

Basically, I may have an issue with craving attention, and maybe I do need a lot of pats on the back. Perhaps this is why I always say things about comments and people posting. It could be that I am seeking recognition through footbag because I am not getting it in other avenues of my life. Maybe.

In any case, by me making posts that include bitching about comments it belittles the comments I do get, and for that I am sorry. I should remember the days where I used to get 5 comments on a video (back when I was sand and making videos with a webcam). I should realize mine are perhaps some of the most watched on this site now.

Anyway, there you go. If you read this and you post on my vids/blog and felt slighted, sorry, it was not my intention.

hey man, I know what you mean about craving attention. It's like, we do stuff that is so crazy its really good to be aknowledged. It's not like we are getting millions or even thousands of dollars to do this. If all we want is for people to tell us their responses I think that is so little to want. I think the stuff you just said in your post indicates that you are aware of and dealing with your issues though. So I think you don't have too much to worry about. I feel like you have already improved in this area anyway.

So anyway man I used to be into magic when I was in grade school. Our principle was actually invited to join the magic castle in hollywood. My favorite trick is teh classic where you say they have something in their hair and then pull out whatever. I've pulled some crazy shit out of peoples hair before.

I dont really think its you that should be apologizing. Youve been getting some really stupid posts in your blog as of late. :x :x

Anyway, just wanted to say, try and keep your spirits up. Everyone knows you're one of the best, and I actually find it kind of hard to comment on your videos. I kinda feel dumb just saying over and over "wow, that was amazing, havent seen that before" so I dont really comment on your videos, but i still love seeing them, and am really impressed by every one of them.

Yea, so thanks for all the videos, and sharing your life on your blog, and forget about all the dumb posts you get.

I watch all your videos and really enjoy them and pretty much never comment. I'm not sure how I would comment seeing as I can't hit 80% of the moves you hit, so all could really say with confidence is, "yea, real good clippas there Davey!"

Keep making videos and posting in your blog. People are watching whether they comment or not.

Dave, the stuff you bust out is so beyond me that i don't wanna waste the space just to post something stupid. If that makes sense.
