New Topic Idea - "Challenges"

Post by Shredster »

I thought of a new topic idea:

We have footblogs for tracking our progress, stating our frustrations, etc...

I think if there was a thread topic that was something titled "Challenges", it would present a challenge to each individual to strive to hit better stuff.

For example, assuming i started a thread in this "Challenges", the other modified members could give me new stuff to hit:

"Chris, hit pigbeater > smog > dlo > ducking clipper > blah blah"...

Ok, well that gives me a challenge. It also keeps footbag less boring in my opinion because, rather than practicing stuff i "KNOW" i can hit, its nice to have a challenge to see if I could hit something like that. That would only make me better. I would play harder and practice longer.

I say making a brand new topic because I don't believe 50 or more individual "Challenges" would work well in any of the current topics. It would clutter the current topics.

If any of you think this is an interesting idea, i'd love to hear it.

I think thats a great idea! I love when people give me challenges, i think it would work well if it was like the blog, everyone has a challenges thread for themselves, and if someone wants to challenge someone they just post in their challenges thread, the thread could also be used for updates and video links for the challenges.. I think the blog style would work well.

Yeah!!
Remember Jeremy Mirken's challenge??? I LOVED that!! General challenges as well as challenges from one shredder to another.

Sounds interesting. Only problem is that you should know level of the player who you are giving a challenge. For me it would definitely help train new combos rather than new individual tricks, that I can´t hit in any string.

Also topics should be named so that everyone doesn´t have their own.(except if you are always training alone and don´t have any other players near..) Like example there could be one for Turkus players and you should name the one that challenge is for.

Good idea!

Well...psh...Forget you. Jk

I always think its more satisfying hitting something that someone else wants you to hit.

Yeah, I understand that the level of play of that particular person/group needs to be known, but over time, we'll figure that out I'm sure. As for group threads, thats fine. The blogs do the same thing. Its either independant people or a group of people.

I would really like this topic to work. I think it would add a new "zest" to the forum. I think it would be fun to be able to challenge players as well. We have a "Request for the Czechs" thread. Why not more?

Online challenges is an interesting idea.

Taggers and Graffiti artists battle here in L.A. online... A paticular krew or tagger will challenge another one online and they will bomb a certain freeway or steet and their peers will judge the outcome online...

The thing is you would have to film the footbag challenges cuz all of us online would all need to see it before declaring a winner.

Heres how it should go down: You should have like 5 minutes to bust the phattest shit you can in front of the camera. It should be one continuous shot showing all your drops (if any) with NO VIDEO EDITING. It shouldn't be based on how well the video is edited rather the shit you do.

I think chris pinkus and Jordan should battle, then set up a thread with a poll asking who won... nomatter who wins, both will get tons of respect for at least trying.

^^^I dont think it should be individual trick challenges for a battle but a given amount of time to do whatever you want. So you could do the combo yer talkin about, and even more if you want. But then moir could bust whatever he wants and whoever is the crowd decides is the winner.

You could take what your talking about and make a cool game called H-A-C-K, or S-H-R-E-D, a footbag version of H-O-R-S-E in basketball, or like S-K-A-T-E in skatin. Whatcha think? Ide like to see a 2 or 3 minute battle.

That's a sweet idea, S-H-R-E-D we sorta play a game like that sometimes but I always lose I'm just getting started but it's still a cool way to have friendly competition and practice and the same time. I thikn this would bring footbag to a new level and might even start to appeal to more people.

but is it based on better shred or better editing?

because I think the shredders on the board cover a very wide range of abilities.

I kind if dig this idea. As someone said, each person would have their own section (best if titled by your name) in which they would start out by stating their current level of play. Then people could throw in suggestions on tricks or combos for them to hit.

Of course this could always just be done within the persons footblog if they want people to do that.

dude. how many times have you IMed me saying, "what should I hit, I can't think of anything" and then I tell you and then you go and hit it and you feel all psyched and awesome and so do I because you're my friend and I'm proud of you? ;) remember whirling swirl?

I love when people challenge me, footbag-wise. it helps me push myself.

This is so weird. I was thinking about how there should be a video h-o-r-s-e thread while I was on the bus today...
