Fairy Sets

Post by Seath »

I love fairy sets! They are so stylish!

So I try to practice them. I can't do any more than, oh say.. three before I really feel it in my knees, like I mean really feel it. No other set does this but fairy and it forces me to stop practicing it.

So this means either I'm doing it wrong, my knees suck for fairy, or God just hates me.

I notice alot of people don't really do fairy... Is this a common problem?

I think that my knee hurts because basically when i fairy i try to do the exact same thing as a pixie but out instead of in, and i dont think my legs can handle moving in that position that quick. It's really frusterating because I really want to have fairy drilled but I cant in fear of destroying my knees :( Please help!!

I just started fairy sets this week (inspired by mosher :) ) but when I do hit them they dont hurt my knee though, my problem is just making them set straight up and doing them nice and clean, I usually hit the bag with my leg on the dex :(

but fairy sets are cool as all all the under used sets out there

I don't know what to say, fairies are the most low energy set for me, as well as the easiest to learn.

The way i do it requires no wierd movement of the knee or anything. I just turn my leg in a bit and bring it up with the bag. This is if you are trying to have the bag pass around your knee, like i do.

Watch J Crook to see a well done, low impact, low stress way to do this set.

It's just an around the world that you quit on half way through.

Seath,

I have this problem too. I have found a solution tho:

To fairy set, while keeping your toes up, bring the knee of your setting leg straight up until it is at the level of your waist. At this point, the bag will be off of your shoe by at least 6 inches and the crook of your knee will be 6 inches higher than the bag. After you've created that separation, turn your knee in to your body as if you're doing an atomic set (which I assume you can hit?). I think this motion will NOT hurt your knee if you separate the 2 parts of the fairy set. Remember to practice the leg motions very slowly until you feel comfortable with it, because trying it too fast will result in a sloppy motion and a greater likelihood of knee problems. Good luck.

I kick it with trunk chef elf and liz luck key my.

I have a pretty strong Fairy set. I don't know how I do it really. Its just a fluid motion for me. I bring my setting legs knee up to waist level and throw my heel outwards and my knee inwards. It just works for me that way.

My fairy set sucks because I have to set and then dex; I can't do them in one fluid motion, but I'm trying to learn though! My pixie sets on the other hand...

I have two different fairies.

I have the super low-impact dump-style fairy that I copied from Spadrick (he just lifts and twists, heel goes up, knee goes in) and the atomic style fairy.

I think that both work though if you find a happy middle ground between those two styles you can really get a good high fairy.

I think the thing that made the huges difference was remembering to twist my leg inwards and point my toe down. that creates a nice big window for the bag to shoot through.

Also, fairies are WAY underused and I think they are stylish as shit.

I do fairies like Spadrick. The way I learned them was by setting slightly then kicking my heel out. As I got more comfortable with the motion, I was able to make it more fluid like a pixie and get pretty good height with it.
