I've yet to kick with you too. I was sick sunday when there was the tam-tam.

I wasn't at NDA because I'm too poor to afford the ten dollar membership right now...plus I can shred for free ANYWHERE I WANT!! Even this winter I'ma play at my college more than anywhere else, and I'll drag Lowrider Laroche here too. But I'll definitely make my appearances at NDA.
Guess what ya'll???
I'm gonna shred today, I can't wait to hit some blurry reverse whirls, bedwetters, spinning whirls, blurry drifters and pdx torques.
Also I'm going to hit my first spinning eggbeater, i'm calling it.

I am the next best thing.

Last tam tam of the year :( Fucking weather blows, i hate the autumn-winter cycle of the year.

It was warm enough to shred, but not warm enough to stay warmed up very well. I hit some ok stuff, a fairly long string on demand by some guy with a camcorder, and a couple new things, like swirling pickup/legover, and very very close to 1 swirling gyro mirage. Ill master that set someday! Combo wise i did hit vortex > drifter > vortex > drifter > ps whirl > spinning whirl > ps whirl > spinning drop.

I didnt play with any pro level players at all except for Eli near the end, who was pretty tired so was just really cooling down. Lots of fun though, finally got to kick with Mathieu, its nice to see a new face in the usual crowd.

I've also made the vow of being one of the best shredders in the world. Im sick of being mediocre and really want to bust hein, so im gonna school my ASS off this winter and hopefully be playing really well next year. I want alot more flipside tricks perfected, instead of just learned, like torques/swirls/blenders/dod stuff. None of this stuff worsens my right groin injury at all, so its definetly something ill be able to get.

My style is bad too, i really need to work on making it more fluid and not so harsh all the time too. Staying more on my toes is whats important, especially on whirls where I seem to just slam my foot down so hard all the time for some reason..

Thats it for now.

James: Ahem, we have another super post lined up for our numerous fans, me and Lowrider Laroche had a 3 hr session today and it went like an eclair on a hot day. So give us the goods NIck, I hear you hit some crazy moves...?

Nick: Dont be a dick, James. I hit swirling whirl. Thats it. Everything else blew. Sucked harder then my vacuum cleaner.

James: blew like a runny nose? You sure were raking a lot for a lack of leaves...in any case you should be dissin' yoself acause everyone agrees you are the shit. Hmm what did I do? nothing of import. Flip mullet but that move is lame and easy. Hit some funky 15 contact strings which is GOOD for me. I get angry when people bitch about ONLY hitting 15 contact runs, I should smack them. Hmm hey Nick I heard you also hit nuclear same blender today too...props bisnatch, and I also saw a really clean sunilwalk, care to elaborate?

Nick: No. Just some more shitty 15 contac.. *sound of smackage*

James: Funny man. And everyone should watch out for a video in the process of being thought of...maybe it'll hit the forums in like 6 months but it will be HYPERIFIC. And quirkily enough it will feature some hyper sets.

Nick: *laser sounds* Drum n Bass is good. PEACE OUT!

James: BOOOOOOOOOSHHHHHHHHHH beeeeooooooooo buuuuunhh buunnnh beeeeeuunhhhh weeeeooooooooon weeeeeeeeeuunh

Nick: ..Got Boom?

Oh yeah and I will definitely be trying my hardest to go to Chilly Philly this year, I want one of dem tuques! Only problem is winter will be half down by the time I get it.
We'll have to have a circle of Brad, Nick and myself. And if Adam Keith comes he can join too.
I want to raise my game to higher levels for the tourney so I don't get spanked by everyone I shred with....off to practice.

ahh Charles (said with french accent), comment ca va?

Moi la, j'ai bien en st tabernac. Je parle francais comme un crapot de depot.

Nick is one crazy motherfucker, this guy can link like he has to save Zelda. I've played six days in a row and only one of them sucked. I don't know which bag you're referring to but I only have the pink one left because I lost and/or gave away all my other bags. It's almost finished :(. It was a good bag.
And surprisingly enough it's been nice enough to play outside all week! I even went shirtless last night. Me and Nick had a session before heading over to foufs for some mad dancing.
Tomorrow will be one of the last tam-tams of the year I suspect.

How's your game coming along? And how much do you practice?

I was soooooooo close to atomic spinning butterfly today...arghh! And atomic gyro weaving clipper...not a very pretty move though.

Ok that's enough for now, I'll probably be back on here later to bitch after I suck back a couple of beers.

I think we're due for a Laroche quote:

Uhmmm ... Someone may want to inform Nick that he's in BAP and is as smooth as a baby's bottom.

Last time I checked they don't let 'mediocre' shredders with poor styles into BAP.

Damn James I envy you being able to shred 6 days in a row
I've got so much ankle troubles I did not shred since thursday night, and wont be able to go to tam-tam tomorrow

Hopefully I can recover completely soon so I can push my game and play consecutive days again, I can't remember the last time I played 2 days consecutively now..

man that totally blows. Are your ankle problems serious or will they get better eventually?
I've had some pretty awful muscle pulls that put me out for weeks at a time. I know what it's like to force yourself not to play or simply not be able to. I'm still kinda of iffy on the last injury...I can't do hopping or nuclear on my goodside cuz of it, but they'll come back soon.
It's better to be safe then sorry.
I'm actually trying to make a record for amount of days played in a row...i wanna see how long I can go. I'm trying to build endurance and consistancy (which is seriously lacking...i'm way better than what you saw on thursday).
In any case I hope you heal up quick so you can shred with us again.

Oh, I thought you had bought a Fred or Pierro bag didn't you???

How is my play coming along? Well, I hope it's getting better... I've been practising A LOT since the worlds...I would say that I play at least 6 times a week... with two of my friends who are pretty addicted too...
Last Friday night, we did a videojam (kind of little competition we do every mounth in Paris) with Andrew Grant, and i did 103 at shred which is obviously my record... I can hit now, ripwalk>ripwalk, sidewalks, ferries, legbeatter, ducks dives, i'm starting to spin, whirls both sides... and longer sessions... a little of guiltness sometimes... good vibes...

An other news, I'm stitching now... I've already made 6 bags... All nice to play with... even the first one!! and each time, it's getting better!!
Bonjour!! :D

No I couldn't afford the Fred bag, and though I liked the way it smelled I didn't like the size.
It's really good that you're practising a lot because you have excellent style, I can't wait to see some future footage from from you. Maybe you should just go ahead and switch to guiltless. Your runs may be shorter at first but once you get used to it you can settle back into a comfortable zone.

What up popples. Long time no blab. So I went 8 days in a row shredding and 15 minutes into the 9th had to pull out cuz my hip started to hurt. That was a pain in the ass (well hip actually). I just took yesterday off completely to make sure it get's enough rest so Nick and I can play today.
Has anyone ever run into problems finding places to play? Fuck it was freezing out and we found some excellent places inside Place-Des-Arts but of course the security guard comes wombling over to tell us we're a menace to society. This guy was fucking ugly, and he talked ugly and everything about him was just plain goblin. So he comes over and says in a horrible english accent that we can't play here. I say why? He then says why right back to me so I says NO, I'M asking YOU why, and he finally get's it, then he says if he let's us play here today next week there will be a soccer team practicing there. So after a little more banter and looking out for soccer players he wombled back to his security office to sit in his security chair to continue doing his work of keeping PDA safe. Thank god something was done about us.
We find another place but after an hour and a half another fucking shithead comes and tells us we can't play there either.
ARGHHHH
I want to see the piehole mayor of montreal and get a permit to shred wherever the hell I want.

I played footbag with james today. It was fun.

EDIT: Ok, I'll elaborate..

It was nice and sunny and warm and cozzy. I showed up late, at the same time of some random noob James met. Anyway, we warmed up for a while at the college campus, then hit the shred.

James played OK, but Ive seen him play better. Still, he had played for 8 FUCKING DAYS STRAIGHT, with the last day being before yesterday, and he was injured to the hip, and knee. He had some sweet as spinning/ducking combos, that included a blender, spinning ducking this, gyro weaving that, etc. Pretty good stuff all day!

I was playing pretty god, I thought. I hit this whirl run that went something like (6-8 random guiltless moves) > whirl > pdx whirl > whirl > pdx whirl > blurry whirl > blurry whirl > spinning whirl > gyro whirl > ps whirl > whirlwindrop. Needless to say i was pretty happy.

The best was after James had left though, and I got to skooling tricks and combos. Janiwalk > blurry whirl > blurry drifter, and what else.. Just long, 20-30 contact strings genuine, with 5s and sometimes 6s thrown in, it felt pretty good, I love kicking outside, it plays so much better!!

Anyway, tommorow we are hanging out, pre-partying at my place, then going to party someplace, and perhaps post-party back at my place after. Ahhhhh the joys of living downtown :)

Also, Watch out for my next song, "Undoesn't"!! Appearing in the arts and leisures section near you.

write a very friendly letter to the people in charge of the spot where you want to play - I'm sure you will get permission - 99% of the time the security guard has been told that they can't let anybody do anything recreational in that spot - the people giving the orders are usually more than happy to let you play there if they know what you're doing. When they say it's ok print out the letter or whatever and take it along to kicks - also remember the person's name so you can mention them when you say you have permission.

Good luck!
