He was wearing colorful shorts, and was using a cole rainbow footbag. I don't recall seeing any dreads.

In Australia we have a few players of non-white background, including Dyalan (South African), Jon (Asian), Robin (i think, Indonesian or similar?), Ollie (Asian), Jesse (really not sure, he'd be best to answer that, last name sorta sounds Lebanese?), Jason (Asian)
Just to clarify a few things. Ollie is very white and very pale. He needs to go outside more!

Alex Urano (started playing at the same time Ollie did) is Japanese.

Also my father was Japanese (my mother is English) - although I have been confused with pretty much every race out there. (mainly because of the ingnorance in regards to ethnicity where I live)

RICKY MORAN!! He is Mexican. His dad is Mexican and mom Anglo, (i believe) like me. When he told me his heritage, i got proud because man that homie can bust!

Juan Sanchez, Jose Cocolan, and Mike Lopez, (San Antonio All-Stars) are all Mexican too. They havnt been to worlds and rarely are on vids, but they are definitely in the top ranks if theyve kept schoolin.

Whats Yacine's background? is he part native?

Yeah, my homie Bijan is Persian. I never thought about it til now, but he's prolly the darkest skinned shredder at every jam we've traveled to.

Yacine`s father is Algerian (arab) and his mom is white. I didn`t know Ricky was half Mexican, that`s cool.

As for `doing my part,` I think I can have a bigger impact by teaching footbag and helping organize tournaments here than I can by making a website. :)

yeah, I'm half Chinese -- my dad is from Hong Kong.
This other guy in Hackrifice, Devin, is black. He's going to start playing more. We've only seen him at our tournaments, really. But he hit blurry ducking clipper over the weekend! (Almost both sides!!)

yeah, i am mexican. jose, juan, and i are guiltless and can bust 4s and 5s everywhere. we got another kid into it and he is mexican too. he is a strong tiltless player, only bailing to mirage or legover every now and then. i recall at css4, sunil telling juan and i he was glad to see more minoritys in the sport. its kinda strange, sometimes i wonder why there are so many more white people in the sport. yeah, my crew and i are usually the darkest skinned people at tourneys.
Peace,

I don't know any black footbaggers . . . I know a spot where nearly a dozen black kids aged 9-20 have hit two add tricks . . . but do they know any thing about footbag or hacky sack ? nope. They did not ask about those things. Hackysack has NEVER been mentioned, it simply doesn't exist here, never heard of it. footbag , what's that ? I stay focused on the question at hand, the tricks.

The question was " I can do that, can you teach me those tricks." The "I can do that" is the most common thing said, and the self confidence is really inspiring.

The kids already talk of battling each other in crews like windsor mentions in another thread, before they ever hit a real trick. I didn't even plant the idea.

Too bad a lot of you guys never got a chance to meet Leonard Griswall, the best African Amercian freestyler I have seen. I think he lives in Missouri now but when I first moved out to San Francisco in 97' he was busting it up living at Tim and Pete's house. He had tons of fives like Mobius, paradox legbeater and blurrywhirls and crazy guiltless style, he was on the cusp of BAP that year. He was a really nice guy, too bad he left the sport to deal with family issues. Also Rasaan who lives in Switzerland now but used to live in southern california is great and Jason from South Carolina was also a sweet Teva shredder. Are sport will benefit with more participation from people of varying ethnic backgrounds as well as more women.

Leonard is still kicking. Or he's kicking again, anyway. He was at Funtastics this year. I think he's still in Missouri, but said he was thinking of moving to PA.
