i think if you wash the sandbags too much, they lose sand. once u wash them the water will turn brown. that is SAND. so you prolly only wanna wash ur sandbag like a couple times in its life

Ive washed a sandbag before and it only started to lose sand after a few washes.

I just wanted to say that I've been trying the fabric softener and dryer sheets in addition to washing the bag with herbal essences shampoo and it's helping my mini abshire break in a lot. Just my 2 cents. Also, I've washed sandbags before... just don't wring them out, you won't lose too much sand. Also, don't do it very often. Otherwise it should be alright. But then again, they usually break in faster than 32 beaded bags anyways, so it's not like you'll really have to wash them, except when they're dirty.

What kind of soap did you use to wash it? Was it just shampoo? Cause that sounds like a better way of washing your bags to me.

Mild hand soap works perfectly for all pellet filled bags. Bar form is better, but liquid works just fine. Keep in mind, a bag should be clean for every session. This will help the bag live longer and perform better. Once it is crusty, the dirt will start to tear the bag from both sides. I know most of you have your own ways of bag care. Awesome, but I have had the time, money and most importantly the bags to do the testing on and have found certain things work better than others. Hope this helps,Richie

Thanks,this seems stupid to ask but. Could someone post a video of them washing a bag. Just so I can see the technigue to use just so I don't mess something up when I am washing it.

Shampoo is fine. The key thing is getting the bag clean and not damaging it in the process. The one thing I like about hand soap is that I don't have to scrub the bag to get it clean and that keeps the bag alive much longer. Hope this helps, Richie

I use bar soap than liquid soaps coz liquid can stay inside the bag and it becomes really hard to wash out, and once its dried it becomes crusty. But if it doesnt happen to u, well then that's fine. Give bar soap a try tho coz its not as thick as liquid and your only washing the surface of the bag.
that way i wash it with soap bar, is to rub the dampened soap in my hand so i get some foam and soap residue happening and then just rub the face of the bag. Very lightly rub it though, u dont necessarily have to rub it hard to get dirt out of the material. Once uve repeated this a couple of times rinse it until the surface becomes a little rubbery (not slippery).
To dry it, thouroughly do it with a towel and then when its lightly damp, dry it through your fingers (like your breaking in the bag). Everynow and then when ur fingers get a little wet, just wipe it on ur shirt. Once the bag is fully dried, the colours will come out and it will become noticably softer. And i use an mini abshire, half broken in.

I have a doberman. Hes usually pretty good when im kicking, he just watches with eager anticipation. If i drop the ball he wont go for it, although if it happens to fly in his direction he'll catch it and ill spend half an hour then trying to prize it from his mouth.
They always come back softer after that.

I worked at SC Johnson and got some (alot) of their products, and I always use the oxy clean, and shout on my 32.....i fill the sink wih hot water, dump in the oxy clean, and the lather the bag in the shout. as soon as I dump it into the water I can see the dirt begin to lift away from the bag. with some gentle rubbing dirt just seeps right out...after my sink is brown, i empty it and rinse it as i massage it (the break in rub) until dirt stops more or less. I will proceed to follow richards advice on consistant washing after a shred...my abshire is still with me soo I might as well take better care of it while i can

The way I wash my bags (I have mostly sandbags) is that I fill the sink up with hot water and put my bags in the water... after a couple of minutes, the bag should be wet and the water still warm. This is when I put the soap in and the massage begins... Usually, there's not a lot of dirt. I rinse the bag for maybe a minute under hot water. Then cold, then warm.... after i'm done, I run more water onto the bag. The water ocming from the bag should show the cleanliness of the bag....

Then, after seeing many Italian Pizza guys do this, I toss the bag in the air and give it a spin to shake off all excess water. I catch it, roll it around, thendo maybe two more toss and rolls..

this is how I borke in most of my bags. BUt ihaven't tried it with a 32. Partly because my 32's coming in the mail....

Well I was trying to soften up my sack and I had it laying on the ground and my dog came and grabbed it in her mouth and sloberd all over it before I could pry it from her grip and it was been the softest bag I have had yet.

I will be selling dog drool for $20 for a 12 Oz. Bottle
