Ohhh boy do I ever have alot to post!!

I don't even really know where to start.

I guess I may as well just start on Saturday the 9th. I woke up sometime well before noon and got right to finding all my shred stuff (which is also the only clothes I ever wear anyways) and got organized for the ERIK CHAN BIRTHDAY JAM!

I ran downstairs (*i kept thinking 'holy shit holy shit holy shit fooootbaaaaaaggggggg!!!'*) and my dad fired me up some eggs and bacon :!: I love my parents! All fueled up I grabbed my backpack strapped on my ninja fire blades (lavers) and grabbed the car keys and I was off. I got a PM from Andrew from Toronto the night before and he said to come around 12:30 though I was pretty certain that the Brantford crew was coming around 11-ish. It turns out they came at 10:30 or so. They are so keen, I love it!

I got to drive my mommy's new Subaru Forester. It is a gem to drive, I think I want to own a Subaru one day! Anyways, I pulled up to Front Street which is the main front side of Union Station, Toronto's central train station. Out front was a breathtaking sight. There were about half a bakers dozen shredders PLAYING FOOTBAG! Wheee!! This was gonna happen for real I kept thinking!

I pulled in at 12-ish and I saw a bunch of familiar faces that I was really happy to see again. And I am also starting to see why footbag grows on you so much, I feel like footbaggers really get to know eachother way better than people on any other kind of forums. We have such mature chatting on here and to add to it we post videos of ourselves physically growing together. It's unbelievable how much better so many people have gotten during the time I have been a part of this community, one of my favorite parts of this game is seeing my friends getting better and loving it as much as I do.

Ah shit, sorry I went off on a tangent.

I saw all the Ontario All Stars Johnny Superman and Jarrett Hutton and Atom(Smasher) and Adam Dexter and Jon Haber and Paul Toews.

WHOAAA!!! My mind blew up but I kept my composure (just take my word for it) and instantly ripped my pants off to prepare to bust. I had my short shorts and lavers on already, naturally, so I didn't have much 'changing' to do perse so I was ready to go. I perused the selection of bags that people brought. (Bag highlights for me were: Paul Toews' SuperChoice Lonn, Andrews bag (perhaps also a lonn?), my new emerging superstar footbag MAX CHOICINGTON (my new felix straight from nova scotia), and secret shredders bag but that's later)

So we started shredding. It was so fun to see other lavers whipping all over the place, footbag words were floating in the air to my delight aswell.

I don't remember hitting too much stuff there, that was really just warm up time. (Though I remarked then that I though Jarrett had gotten alot better.) They were all warm since they had been playing for a little while.

We were hanging out waiting for Erik (effing) Chan to arrive. I remember calling out "EERRRIIIIKKK CHAAAANNNNN!!!!" at one point but there was no reply.

At around 1 I called Camille, she informed me she wouldn't be coming till later and meeting up with us and that Andrew and Erik said they would meet us at Union at 12:30. So we played the waiting game and then we played hungry hungry hippos.

A short ways into the waiting game someone stopped to point out "Hey look, it's Andrew, Eli and Caro!"

(a collective) 8O

What.... ? .... ? 8O

Ok, so this was for real. Andrew showed up with Ellis Piltz and Caro Bourgoin. I'm serious.

They came down as a surprise for Erik's birthday.

I'm serious.

So we mobilized and headed out for University of Toronto campus to find a good spot to shred. I still had my car illegally parked at the side of the road so it was real convenient for hopping in and heading out. I hollered out that I was driving there and so anyone could join. I hopped in (no guests yet), fired up the Surbaru (so smooth) then in hops .... uhhh.. hole in brain ... uhh.. PAUL TOEWS (I think, wait.. no.. I don't know.. jon?) and his knowing the streets was good because I had no idea where I was going. And to my surprise Eli and Caro hopped in too.

'Delightful!' I cheerfully thought to myself. I pulled out and got the first direction given and off we went. That vehicle really moves smoothly, it feels so light at all times. Light yet attatched to the road.

We pulled in to the U of T campus and as we were pulling in through the main cobblestone pathway we came across Erik (effing) Chan! :D

I pulled right up onto the sidewalk and hopped out and shook his and Marita's and her friends' hands excitedly. They were real! They were here!
He seemed like a movie star to me man. He is such a truely nice guy and it's great to see him so happy with Marita (who is a splendidly nice girl).

I hopped back in the car and we circled around trying to find a spot. There was a wedding on so most the usually empty spots were full. We found a nice illegal one and left the car there. We went back to where Erik was and I tore off my pants again.

Shortly after our arrival the walking posse showed up at which point I pointed out the obvious huge advantage our horseless carriage provided us.

We all started warming up and doing our thing. Here was this big ass posse of shredders. In fact, the biggest posse that has ever assembled to shred in Ontario EVER! I really feel that that is a huge accomplishment because it was thrown together on such a whim and it drew together alot of shredders that represent various areas of Canada's growing scene.

Johnny and I had another stupid challenge that was roughly parallel to the flower jumping in sensibility. Starting on one large cement block you had to walk on the tops of meter high bike rack poles. These were straight up poles with semi-rounded caps on them. They were about 5 feet apart and I think there were around 8 so it was quite a journey to the other large cement block at the other end. We tried several times making it to the 4th or so each time. Johnny had one close try where he made it to 6 and fell trying to get to 7 and almost smashed himself on the sharp corner of the block. I wound up making the full walk and hopped off the last block proudly. (For the record I also cleared the flower bed and sealed it once  )

Shred began! Circles formed and people warmed up. This was all so exciting.

Also, right now I just realized how FlexThis can post such long posts, there are just so many frigging details to cover. I havn't even gotten to the shred!

Ok, so it was somewhat windy outside so some people were bitching :P . I said to use a small heavy bag and tough it out but they wanted to be whiny babies.
Before moving inside I ventured across the street to where Eli and Caro and Erik and Johnny were circling. I felt bad because I made it the fifth dude and that's harsh. I just reeaally wanted to get to play with those people. They were shredding with a Mike Wilson bag. It was super plush and squishy like a Carol. The wind was kinda being annoying and it would interrupt shred now and then. I felt unsure what to do when it was tossed to me and I dropped the toe stall (I don't get passed to that often) and then pick it up. I felt dumb passing it to Johnny because I knew he would just pass back, but I had all these people that had been playing for years and years and years (I remarked to Eli as we were walking along a street later that night that he had been playing 12 times as long as me) and I was afraid of doing stuff wrong I mean... they've been in infinity billion more circles than I ever have and I figured everyone knew the 'correct' way to do things. I self-served without passing to Johnny or anything once or twice after dropping the toes and then stopped and asked if that was kosher, they said it was cool. I need to play with more people more. I need a bigger club. I commented that it would be amazing to have weekly club meetings with that many people. Sigh, one day. It was so cool to actually be in a circle with those people.. seriously.. I can't even describe what it was like to be so close to these superhero's of mine.

----

When we were drving over to the jam I remember I kept looking in the rearview mirror because I saw that sitting in my backseat were two people that I had had as background on my computer and who I had frame-by-framed before and there they were sitting in my car.

----

We moved a few hundred feet away to a relatively inactive building and went up to the second floor. It was well lit and it had thin carpet over cement floors, perfect! We all dumped our stuff off and a few of us were sorta wondering if we would get kicked out. (no pun intended)

It was a real cool place with big dramatic stair cases and a big open multi story room next to us. A third or so of the walls were glass. Also on a few occasions the bag got kicked down to the lobby and a passerby or the shredder that kicked it had to go down and get it.

Again circles formed and shred ensued. What commenced was probably one of the coolest experiences I have ever been a part of. It was uninterrupted pure fun for hours and hours!

I got in a one liner that I thought was really funny (I love myself). Andrew had been playing really well I thought (He has improved alot since world's) and that was despite having longer than usual shorts on. Earlier in the day I encouraged him to roll the waist of his shorts up a roll or two to get the angles of the legs better for dexes and to create a bigger window. Then later on I said to him (somewhat unintentionally)

Me: "Hey Andrew, want to know why you're playing so well today?"

Him: "Why?"

Me: "Because you Rolled Up The Rim To Win!" :D

You really really have to be Canadian to get that one!

Johnny would do crazy stuff like.. 9 atomsmashers>rubberman>9 atomsmashers
Erik is the most fluid and controlled player I have ever seen. It was incredible when he would do long all ducking/diving strings. I had seen him play so much in his movies it was amazing to watch it in person.
Hah, and same goes for Caro and Eli!!
Man can they bust!

I had fun circling with everyone. Billy from Toronto and Camille wound up showing up eventually to join in the shred. I had met Billy this summer when I ran into him and Paul T at a wakeboard contest completely randomly. That day we shredded away while wakeboarder bra's watched in amazement as Paul made it go behind his head before the super jester stall (they missed the pixie part of the pheonix :P )

Jon Haber is proving to be a very good influence on my game. He has been playing a bit longer than me and so he is hitting tricks that I plan on hitting or I am trying right now. So he is a few steps ahead of me down the learning curve so it's great to play with him. He has been putting light pressure on me to try out guiltlessness and that pressure is working well.

Also, Johnny and Jarrett from Brantford are really good to straight up session with. They both are good sources of trick tips and advice and both can spot the errors in the tricks I am trying which really helps to hammer out a kink in a trick. And they are great fun guys to boot!

I hit a few new things I think. stepping whirl both sides and atomsmasher>paradon both sides. I probably hit lots of other stuff that I am happy about but I will just leave those in the confidence banks and I won't vent. (I hear this is working well for David Clavens)

Lots of crazy stuff went down of course. I can't remember any specific tricks, everyone is so much better than the last time I saw them. Johnny puts on the Johnny show as usual and blows minds everytime he gets the bag.

Jarrett and Eli had a pretty long sock session which was sweet. they were trying big dexing stuff. (I showed Eli some of my frantic attempts.. which I can't believe in retrospect.. how thrilling of a sport is this?! :D )

As the day got later we wrapped up the shred semi-reluctantly, there were people who just couldn't put the bag down and give it up. That's integrity! :D

We packed up our gear and stretched and all that and headed out. Once we reached Young Street we sadly parted ways with the charming Brantford Boys. I really really honestly like every damn one of them so much. They are genuinely nice guys that are so much fun to hang out with. They are funny and a good solid crowd. I eagerly await each chance to shred with them!

We hugged goodbye and headed to get some dinner.

Before going into the restaurant a few of us went into a head shop that Jon was excited to visit. Jon was purchasing some rolling papers and the dude working the desk was undeservidly rude to Jon. He was just being a jerk with his tone and stuff. Oh well, I am sorry for harshing cheech's mellow.

Andrew, Jon, Myself, Caro, Eli, Erik and Marita wound up at a Thai restaurant. I got one of the two English named dishes (Andrew got the other) Chicken with Penut Sauce. (I felt like an idiot when I had to look back in to remember the name of it when it was in English)
I remember that Marita didn't finish hers and I was still hungry and I wanted it soooo bad but I didn't know if she wasn't done and I didn't know if Erik was going to have any and so I didn't ask for it and it went to waste :( )

The food was delish and the chat was sparkling. They all got milkshakes and I was jealous but I resisted the urge to get it. My meal kicked ass anyways and my iced tea from a can couldn't be beat by any silly mango milkshake.

When dinner was done and the bill was paid we left the restaurant and Jon and I parted ways with the posse and headed to my car.

We got there and found it incredibly ticket free despite a day in an illegal spot. We procrastinated leaving for a little longer and kicked the bag around a bit and passed to the left a little too.

We hopped back in the Subaru to take Jon to the bus station because the night was finally over.

OR WAS IT!!!!!!???

Yes, the frigging story goes on!!

We got there at 10:30 and found out that his bus home wasn't until 11:30 which meant that we had time to bring our dream of shredding in the big open bright area in the front of the Eaton Centre to fruition!!

The spot was great for shred so we hurried over. In this spot playing for 45 minutes we would have been witnessed by several thousand people.
We had several comments about how we were the best Hacky Sackers they had EVER seen!

One dude named Dave came up and joined us for a while. He was blown away by our ninja skills. I told him to check out footbag.org. I should really go see if he did.

Anyways, after shredding right up until 11:20 we took Jon to the bus terminal and he headed out.

I drove home with a huge smile on my face listening to some delightful classical music sailing along the highway all the way to my bed in Oakville.

I can say with confidence that this will always be one of my most favoritest days ever. It was all just so incredible and surreal.

Thank you to everyone that played any part in this weekend, it was all so fun.

Oh Tom Mosher!!! :D That was such an awesome post!!! It made me really happy to remeber all of that, and to hear it from your perspective!! You are awesome, and I just wanted to say two things:

1. All of the things that you felt like maybe you were doing stuff wrong, don't worry about them!! You are so much fun and excited, no one coould possibly have a problem with anything you could do!!!! You kept Erik and I smiling all night because of how much you laugh!!! It's is just GREAT!

and the second thing,

2. You TOTALLY could have had my food!!!!!!!! That made me laugh, but I also felt really bad, because I would have loved to give it to you!!! Erik hates spicy food (that's why he didn't eat...silly passive boy) and I hate having things go to waste! So next time we chill, just ask for whatever you want, okay? :D

Well, that said...it was one of the nicest weekends I have ever had too. Thank you for offering Erik a place to stay (because if you hadn't, he woouldn't have come down), for coming out to Toronto (we were all thrilled to meet you.......well, I speak for all two of us, Erik and I), and for helping to make a really nice time!!

Dude I TOTALLY remember Paul's Lonn bag. He bought it the second day of CSS, and it broke in like the next morning. I remember kneading that bag passively that night as we all sat around talking, and I kicked with it the next day!
We have kicked with the same bag, Tom!

Or, I'm wrong and it's not the same bag.

Aw man! I feel terrible, I wish he'd have said something then he could have had some dinner too!
Erik is so quiet and nice and polite and he has the greatest smile.

I remember going up to him and saying "Hey Erik" at some point in the jam just to have him smile and say "Hey Tom". It was so exciting meeting "canadian girl" and "chan" in real life! I had so much fun just getting to interract with you guys.

For the record Erik and Marita at one point showed up with a sweet load of chips and pop and they fed the troops. We were all very happy about this.

That was AWESOME, Tom! Thanks so much! I had to seperate my reading into part A and part B, part A being before school and part B being now. I laughed so much at "ninja fire blades (lavers)". I thoroughly enjoyed your entire post, though. I'm really glad you captured everything so well! It makes me feel ashamed to have written anything in my footblog. Marita actually didn't even like her dish -- she got like a soupy mush and wanted something that looked like Andrew's dish. It's too bad it was wasted. I got food later at a bar we went to, it was good. I wasn't hungry before anyway.

I also had a really fun time reading your most recent post (^^^^^This one!) I have found a new favourite footblog!! I also liked a lot when you pulled straight onto the sidewalk. HAHAHA. Marita and I had a great laugh over that when you pulled up. Oh yeah, you pulled up and you yelled "ERIK CHAN" and then shook my hand and got back in the car and closed the door. Then you got out again and shook Marita's hand and Marita's sister's hand and said nice to meet you and jumped back in the car and drove away. You said something pretty funny then, too, but I forget. We laughed about that.

Also, this morning, after I had read part A Marita called me and I told her to read your footblog because it was so entertaining!! Thanks Tom Mosher!!!!!

wow, that's so awesome that other people noticed Erik's smile!!! Really though, back in the day, (cheesy story coming up :D ), the first time I met him, my friend introduced me to him, and he smiled at me and said, "Hi, how are you?" and that was basically all he said because he was so shy. And I still walked away with my friend swooning (hehe) and the first thing I said was " He has the most amazing smile!!!" So yeah, I agree Tom. It's such a happy smile, lights up the face. I thought that was cool that you thought so too. Okay, maybe that story was too sappy for The Mosher's Footblog....hehe....oh well.... :)

Anyways, off to psychology lecture with 1600 other people.....yay.... :?

My last few sessions:

Post by mosher »

Jon Haber - University of Guelph Footbag Association
Tom Mosher - Her Royal Majesty the Queen's University Footbag Fleet
Date: Monday, October 10th.

On Sunday night at like.. 1.. or 3 AM Jon came online I and asked him if he wanted to get together to jam in Guelph the next morning. He said yeah so I said wicked and that I would call him in the morning, real morning that is.

So I wrote a note and left it on the counter for my parents to see (I was home for Canadian thanksgiving remember) instructing them to wake me up in order to be out the door at 9:30 AM. HAH! My parents usually have to try rousing me 3-4 times before I become aware of their attempts! I bet it's real frustrating for them. Anyways, that wasn't the case on that morning. I hopped out of bed cheerfully BEFORE they came to wake me up and I tossed my stuff on and headed downstairs.

My Dad was up and he was fixing up some protein breakfast shakes so I had him make it a double and I had that for breakfast and it was splendid.

I was out the door at 9:30 AM as planned and I got in the car and headed to Guelph. The drive was pretty short, shorter than last time? I'm not sure.. but it certainly felt shorter.

I found his place real easy because I already knew all the wrong ways to go from the last time I was there.

I called him up on my cell phone at about 10:15 AM and said I was there. I started walking towards the door to his place as I was telling him I was there and saying hi and crap and then as I stepped in to his cement block building the signal went to poop and so I just trotted up to his room.

I went in and we got all prepped for a day of shred.
Jon was running around (lavers, check! lonn? check!) getting his stuff while I played with his house's kitty. It's a real cutie. It's still growing and it's all rumbustuous. (erm. that's a word I said by accident once but I think it's rather fitting here)

We headed out along the Cow Path (that's the name of the pathway that winds through a leash-free dog area and then down along some student housing then finally to a road) which took us to a road that, once properly crossed, would gain us access to the university. I have to say that the walk to campus is kinda nice actually. It's not very long, comparable to what I walk to school.. if I don't take the bus that is, and it's a nice chance to chat. Some of that chatting time was spent walking with his cute friend who was cute and his friend and nice to chat to. Jon said alot of his friends meet her and then want to bone her. Can you blame them? She's interesting to talk to, smart (whoa!) aannnd to boot she's pretty. So yeah, she walked with us right to their big gym building thing. She was lifeguarding, we were shredding all badass and stuff.

We got the choicest set-up: a frigging dance studio with MIRRORS!! and STRETCH BARS!! yess! both of my dreams come true!

I tried to not focus on the foreground and just play as the person in the mirror. So I just tried to switch my brain to controlling the dude inside the mirror room. It was really hard to do anything.

So this was my first time really shredding in my new CLIMACOOLS. I must say that I am a BIG fan and fullout supporter now!

Here is a picture of the way the inside surface used to look (note: i reaallize that this is the outside surface of the shoe, but I had already modded the insde when these shots were taken, but this is what the inside did look like before I swear)

*I took out the pictures, they were too big*

And then I dremelled off the air scooping fins and shoe gooed a bridge for the inside surface.

Check out how they came out!

*Same dilly*

Sorry for being too lazy to make those small. This way you get to see the minute details of my handy work

Now I must say that these shoes are a delight to play in! I am springy and crisp and I love it! They are a supportive shoe that is a real shoe and not a few pieces of cloth and rubber laced to my foot. There is NO disadvantage to playing in these shoes. You do not sacrifice anything relative to a laver and infact you GAIN alot for all the energy the super springy design returns!

The mesh that is left on my inside surface is SEETHROUGH thin!
Also the shoe can be worn barefoot with no fear of sticky foot because of the super smart Clima Cool design. It has airscoops everywhere that are designed to suck up air while you run. That is the part I took off with my rotary grinding tool (my trusty Dremel), what is left is less than a millimeter thick strip of rubber which does not impede anything and It is actually very grippy.

I made the bridge by layering about 20 coats of shoe goo over the period of a few hours. I was very diligent in doing that though. As in, I was right into the next coat as soon as the previous one was dry enough to handle it. With each subsequent layer I had to really mould it and be careful not to ruin the whole thing as it was still rather ductile.

I used a piece of plastic to smooth out each small glob I would squeeze out onto the arch. It built up reallly slowly but surely and now I have a full clipper rail that is VERY solid (nooo fears of this coming out!) and that does not alter the feel of the shoe in any way. I feared that putting this in would stiffen up a bend spot and that would require a slit or something in the arch but as it turns out the flex point of the shoe is directly under the toes and thus the arch is actually a stiff component of the shoe! Gah! I think I found my calling! I am going to be a shoe designer!!!!

Guys I think I am serious.

I think I just had a moment.. like a. a thing. I am going to design footbag shoes for really real. I am in my fourth year of my Mechanical Engineering degree and I can ACTUALLY do that and have that as my business in real life.

OK back to my shoes.

Right, so they have big open air intakes at all sides of the shoe! if you take out the insole you can see right through the whole thing in many places! I was webcamming with Joe Kulacz tonight and I had the camera showing me but through my shoe.

Uhh... anyways, they play great and they complement my style very well!
They encourage you to stay on your toes, I am almost never touching my heels when I play in them.

My clipper game and my toe game are really improving. I have a very precise place I like to catch the clipper and it is so nice in there. Also, it seems that the shoe is as forgiving as a laver if you don't quite line up the clipper perfectly.

The toe area is nice and flat with a foot in it. I was dubious when I looked at shots online but it really makes a nice pocket around your toes as you arch them up naturally. This may sound strange but the fact that they are slightly thicker than my cloth (modded leather) lavers is an advantage. They are still quite thin and they make it easy to feel the bag, but they aren't so thin as to have my toes arching up ruin the flatness of the toe area. Perhaps it is a better fit with my foot, but the whole shoe feels very.. attached and I feel confident in them.

Oh yeah! My blog!

I was using my climas for the first time and I found that hot damn I liked them!

We both played really well I thought and I had a super duper blast. It is always real motivating playing with Jon. I love the way he spins, it is so graceful and like a dancer. I found the location to be ideal for shred. Jon has this card where he can swipe it in the powerade machine and it spews out powerades for us. That was a real treat.

I can't remember what was hit, I am sure new stuff got hit.

I know I hit alot of blurry whirls both sides and I was working on stepping out of them. To get that concept working I have been drilling whirl>ripwalk rpt as much as I can. Tomorrow I am going to try to do pdx whirl>ripwalk>ripwalk rpt

Anyways, it was fun as always. My fingers are tired from typing alot. I went and did it again.

i am now very interested in trying out some climacools. the biggest atraction for me are the air scooping things, since i'm a bear foot player, and my lavers smell worse than the ass of a corps that spent 3 weeks in the red and another 3 weeks on the bank in the sun.
thanks tom for posting the photos and giving such a detailed description of the shoe. i'm very jealous...
i'm going to call every shoe stor in town tomorrow and see if i can't track some down...

Upon re-reading my last few posts here are a few things I wanted to add:
- I never really talked much about Erik Chan and his play before. I wasn't really sure what to expect of Erik or his game. I knew he had been playing for a long time, and I knew all the crazy 5's he busts in the movies I have of him but I also knew he was injured. He was REALLY good! Easily one of the most controlled players I have ever seen. He played alot harder than I figured he would, he was sessioning almost the whole time we were though he still seemed concered about his injuries at times. I saw some bsos fives going down and I know that everyone else was as blown away as I was.
As a person he is SO quiet and kind and pleasant to be around. I think Marita and him are a very good match. It sucks that they have to be so far apart so much of the time.

- When I bought my climacools I went to an Adidas Outlet store (my 3rd or 4th in days) and I saw sitting on a shelf that normally houses stacks upon stacks of boxes one single pair of climacools. This was indeed the last pair they would EVER have! And get this - it was in my size!
So I did a quick check and tried them on (they fit, woo hoo!) and then proudly walked to the cashier and bought them. Get this, they were WAY discounted because they were their last pair!

OK, onto last nights session:

Last night was a super busy night for me. I had three things scheduled for 7 PM and I didn't realize this until the night before.
1) A presentation I had to give about maxi-pads (shut up, I'm serious. My fourth year thesis project, the project with which engineers are supposed to 'show their stuff' is based on maxipads)
2) Write a mid-term. I had this shifted back to 6 to save me some stress, thankfully the prof was accomodating.
3) THE THIRD EVER QUEEN'S FOOTBAG CLUB MEETING!

So I was obliged to go to the presentation thing as I was presenting so I got all dressed up in my ripped jeans and a dress shirt and tie.
I thought "ok sweet, they said it was a ten minute presentation and i'll be in and out like nothing and then get to my footbag meeting at 7:15"

HAH!

So I get in the presentation room and find out that my group is going 3rd of 4 and that I had to sit and watch them all! arrrgg! So I finally got to the club meeting at ten after 8 to the delightful surprise of seeing THREE footbaggers playing!

wooo hoo! People care!

Derek (my kingston footbag buddy that will soon appear on modified) and Alex and the dude who's name I forgot. I was bummed that Scott didn't show, I know he has potential.

A problem I am having is trying to get Alex to learn toe-stalls before trying to hit tricks. I challenged him to hit 5 alternating toe stalls and he got 4 a few times. but then he would go and throw his body in the air and try some wierd crazy trick (which usually amounted to about a butterfly) and alot of the time he would FALL on the ground! :D
This happened several times!

I was shredding in my climacools again, every part of my game is getting better, it's so effing cool!

Here's what I did:
New
- symp bubba (both sides)
- symp toe whirl (both sides)

I also had *in my hand* (yeah. I dropped the 'hand stall' seal) about 4-5 times the PS Whirl on the side I havn't sealed yet. rrrr!

The climacools make me bouncy and symp stuff is thrilling because I get to fly.

In a string I had ....>bubba>fairy legover>...>(other)bubba>fairy butterfly>more string!

- torque>torque (both sides)

- I tried to hit a string of 'walk' moves and I came up with dimwalk>sidewalk>ripwalk>sidewalk (first try!)

- I tied my ripwalk record at 8. I stepped out of the 8th but I messed it up and coulnd't butterfly it. They were by far my cleanest and nicest ripwalks of my life too.

Not New but I was still happy about:
- "flip" fudge
- "flip" fairy DUCKING butterfly (I really didn't expect to hit it again) (also I hit the other side first try right after this one which was particularly exciting)
- lots more pheonii, I am going to hit it bsos really soon.

I am also slowly getting good enough to hit some of the crazy wierd tricks I think up, watch out Jorden!

I may ramble, I appologize in advance.

Where to start?

I have a story I sorta feel I need to tell. I have only told this to two people so far. It happened to me the other day and it was realer than real.

It was 3:12 PM or so, I was planning on catching the 3:15 bus that comes around the corner from my house and my friend came online with her msn name being "66 pills and a bottle of wine should do it".

She has had lots of difficulties dealing with stress from a lot of sources in her life and to add to that she has anxiety disorder and so she's accordingly on a plethora of medications.

Her and I have a real strong/fucked up friendship that has been going on for about a year now. We were pretty into each other last year but at the time she had a boyfriend. There are a lot of complexities to this friendship I guess..

I asked her if she was ok, she wasn't of course, and as it turned out she was really upset and depressed and in the process of killing herself.

Holy shit.

Like.. seriously.. holy shit. Right then I knew that I wasn't going to be catching my bus or going to my lecture or doing anything I had planned, all the sudden I had to save my friends life, great.

Now, not to sound like a complete dick but this really wasn't what I had planned on doing. This was scary, this was unbelievable (I think I finally understand the word). Why had she chosen ME to be the one to call out to as she tried to swallow all her pills??

I know I am the best friend she has and that sucks because it makes it hard for me to really be as supportive as she needs because I have a lot of other priorities in my life that I need to deal with. What she needs is a boyfriend and a little less Tom Time (pattent pending) because I feel like a baby sitter a lot of the time.

So what do I do??

How was I supposed to react? Do I call 911?? Do I rush over??

I called her house immediately and told her housemate to check in on her as 'she may not be ok' as I told them.

Her housemate genene is fucking inept.

She was just like 'urm I don't think ***** is home' and just dismissed my concern.

So I knew I had to step up because I could NOT just let this happen if it was actually for real.

I tried to talk to her online to find out what she had done or what she was doing. She told me that she had taken a lot of valiums and drank a bottle of wine.

Fuck, this was real. So I told her I was coming over and packed up my shit and left. (I found out when I got home that when I was walking up to her place that she sent me many 'DON'T FUCKING COME HERE!! I DON'T WANT YOU TO!!' etc messages)

I got to her house and walked up the stairs to their door on the upper floor of a split up house. I had made a walk similar to this before with an ex-girlfriend who had attempted to commit suicide and it is the scariest fucking position to EVER put someone in! I cannot ever handle doing that again.

I entered her house and walked to her door. I knew she had barricaded it and so I stood next to it totally freaked out. I knocked on her door and said her name wobbily. She said to go away and that I wasn't wanted.

So I stood there unsure what to do for several minutes. Eventually I sorta tried to open it to show I wanted in and she gave in after some convincing and let me in.

What a fucking sight. She was trying to die and I got in the way.

How the fuck do you handle that???

I didn't have time to think that though, it was just right there and happening.

On the floor was an empty bottle of wine and a small table with ~40 valiums spread out. I suppose that means she ate about 25 valiums and she had out all her other medications.

There was music playing, there was a note, there was my friend crying... I hugged her. I always give her really big hugs and really great back rubs.

She would cry and cry and cry and cry and I would sit there holding her having no idea how I was going to end this horror story.

She was begging me to let her finish the job and she was pissed off I had fucked up her suicide. I was fighting with her holding her back from eating any more pills at one point.

I had to stuff all her pills into my bag though I feared that she had other ways to die if she wanted.

The music was all so depressing and making the situation so much worse. I couldn't get up to change it because I had to hold down the girl that wanted to die.

This went on for quite some time and eventually I convinced her to lay down and drink some water with the intent of puking.

Puking was especially important because valiums kill you if you take too many! One normally puts her asleep, over 20 is really really bad news.

When she went to puke I scanned the room for any pills and stuff.

I eventually handed her off to her housemates and headed home.

Want to know the insane part?

Later on that night she came over to my house and worked on some homework while I shredded. Her and I have this ability to just ..move on from really intense experiences with each other.

I guess things went 'well' but it is really horrifying being in a situation like that and I wish it didn't have to happen in the first place. She is under so much pressure form school and her ex-boyfriend and having to work to pay for her education and her car and all her books. She is under tremendous stress and I find it incredible how she pulls it off so consistently.

Man, on to another topic..

Ive got alot of these 'topics' to discuss!

Today I participated in a Busker Fesitval playing footbag!

It was a charity deal run by some Queen's students with all proceeds going to War Child.. some charity.. I don't know.. I just wanted to play footbag!

I walked over at about 12:30 but I was real scared to come out and just start playing because I am rather shy about my footbag skills sometimes in public.

So for courage I went and found a hidden spot and packed a few bowls.

I walked straight up to them and started chit chatting lightly, I was nervous but I knew I had to do this because I showed up and now they were expecting it. It was really cold out so I didn’t feel confident enough to just drop my pants and start busting out of nowhere. Then a little miracle happened! This guy who I have wanted to meet for a few weeks now just arrived! He knew one of the dudes playing an instrument or an organizer or something, either way, he was there and we met! I really wanted to meet him because he looked cool and like someone I would probably get along with and to boot he is the first other guy I have ever seen at Queen’s with his septum pierced like me!

So he and I just up and started hackin’ the sack! It was great fun! He was wearing steel toed boots so that was kinda a pain for him but he managed really well and was hitting toe stalls and stuff. He is really cool and his name is Jared, he promised me that he would be at my club meeting tonight. I was so glad that he had come up and started kicking with me because it allowed me to get warmed up. At one point I told him that I am probably a lot better than he was expecting. I dropped the pants and pulled out the felix and showed him what I meant.

Various people played with me over the period of a few hours and I think we made lots of money for charity, whee! We all win!
I had THREE new people tell me they would be at the club meeting Thursday.

Ok more stuff!

Let me tell you about the Queen’s Engineering Science Formal. This is our big final formal and every fourth year engineer puts in 45 hours of (wo)man-work constructing the huge elaborate props needed for the themed formal we have each year. This is a huge deal at my school, each year students propose various themes and then they get voted on and a winner is chosen. We then build the hugest craziest set ever. What you wind up doing at the warehouse during construction can be anything from actual structural construction to paper mache and painting. You log in when you get there and a computer clocks your hours.

I went last night (at the time of writing this it is last night.. though this part is being included in a post that was started when it was “tonight”) I elected to do some painting and selected a huge 10ftx15ft mural and soon after discovered why the sky is blue, because I painted it that colour!

I wound up killing three hours and then I boarded the shuttle back to campus. But not before doing one of the dummer things I have ever done. The way they do the painting is in a paint-by-number method that is stupid easy. You take a cup and put some paint from the appropriately labelled can and then take your cup and a brush and go paint some stuff. I had in one hand my open can of iced tea and in the other hand my cup of paint. I took a sip of my iced tea, it was so smooth and warm and … paint!!! AAHH!!! I had paint in my mouth and on my lips!! Ahhh!!! Did anyone see?? Am I going to die??

I went and spat out what I could and wiped the paint off my lips and rinsed with my real iced tea. What an awful experience! Hahah

Ok I only have one more thing I wanted to mention.

There is a girl at Queen’s I have a crush on! I see her about 500% more than I see anyone else and I have no idea who she is! She is adorable, her hair curls in the tightest curls I have ever seen! They are these ¾ cm thick tubes of spiralled hair. I would be willing to bet she is in first year.

Yesterday at the BuskerFest I was warming up with a long string of infinities just staring at the bag the whole time then I stopped with a confident toe stall and looked up to find her eyes watching me, she was right there walking up to the library coincidentally. I think some force is trying really hard to give me lots of chances to ask her out. I keep seeing her everywhere and now we are on ‘flirty eye-contact and cute embarrassed smile’ terms. A few hours ago we had our first ever real solid smile to each other and it lit me up inside! I really hope she is at the Peel Pub tonight, I think I saw her there a few weeks ago on a Thursday night, if I see her I am going to ask her to go to see a movie with me on Sunday. They play movies on campus for $3 and they are showing Farenheit 911 this Sunday and my dream is that her and I will wind up going.

I have a footbag club meeting tonight at 7 PM, wish me luck!

So much wierd shit seems to happen in my life that I just sorta accept it when it occurs. Or maybe normal stuff happens and I get too excited, either way, I am having a lot of fun with this whole 'life' thing.

Here's a good example.

I was at a party friday night and a little ways in this guy was like 'hey tom, I saw you hacky sackin the other day' referring to the other day when I played at the buskerfest and that spawned an hour or so of footbag chat, my favorite!

Eventually the party broke up with everyone heading out to a bar or something. I left with Paul (my footbag chatter friend) and we went to his house.

This weekend at Queen's is the biggest party weekend of all. It is our homecoming and on satturday night (last night) there is a massvie street parrty that I will describe later on. Anyways, lots of people come from all over for this party. My friend mark from back home has been coming up for this event yearly yet we never run into eachother. I When we got to Paul's house I soon realised who he lived with - he lived with the people that mark and friends were coming up to visit! (He told me over msn a few days before coming up "we will be drawn to each other like magnets" how right he was! At this point I was already nice and drunk and my announcing that I was walking home to get more weed should have been taken as 'goodnight guys!' as the next thing I remember is waking up in my bed fully clothed.

ok, so now for the good stuff.

I went to the street party last night blah blah blah it was insane there were thousands of people there la la la. My real reason for being there was in hopes of running into the girl I mentioned above.

I wandered through the crazy crowd of people for a little while, it takes quite a while to walk from one end of the mass to the other!

On my third or fourth pass through the masses I spotted her! we were moving in streams of people going opposite directions, I quickly derailed and swooped around to try to run into her. Our paths collided and so did our lives right then. She let out a big happy "Hey!" and I followed suit. We both commented on how we always see eachother and then I went for it:

me - have you seen farenheit 9/11?
her - no
me - me neither, would you like to go see it tomorrow night?
her - yes

There, I did it, I asked a girl out for my first time ever.

Her name is Megan and we have a date tonight!

AHH!! This is WAY more than I could ever have dreamed for!
I am doing laundry for this occasion.

As soon as I met her I ran off away from the party, I didn't need it any more, I got what I wanted!

I can't describe the high I had right then. Elation is timid in comparison. I kept saying her phone number over and over in my head as that was my only link to her 'three seven, three seven eight', I'll never forget those numbers!

I'll update later tonight after the date.

:D !!!!!!!!
