Lynton's been really busy with uni for a while - so has been playing a little but not very much - he's almost finished and about to be working full time I think but is looking to start playing properly again.

At the moment I'd say it's fairly even between Lynton, Dan and myself. It's hard to judge though because we have such different styles and enjoy playing in different ways. Lynton basically either hits hard combos or genuine runs with not very many hard moves (at least not hard for him - obviously shooting symp mirage is a hard move - but he often starts a run with it fairly easily). Dan hits really long runs with hard links and hard moves but lots of bails as well. He is very consistant - definitly the most consistant player in Australia but he never really hits super hard moves. I guess I'm like halfway between. I always like to hit big moves and try to go genuine a lot although I think I'm lacking in variety and consistancy.

I guess if I were to make a stab at the top three I'd say Dan 1, Lynton 2, Me 3rd. I hope that's accurate and not me being modest. I think it's certainly going to be an awesome battle at this summers Aussie Champs. I think I'm probably the favourite for the sick 3, Dan would be the favourite for routines and for shred 30 - but it's so hard to discount Lynton - who performs better under pressure. Dan and I both choke most of time I think (or at least I do).

Anyway just a little update - we stayed up like all last night - a few people were leaving really early in the moring. Hagsey was catching a plane at 6 am - he was getting a lift with one of Garath's housemates (Paul) who works at the airport. When Paul came in Hagsey wasn't packed at all - he still managed to get to the airport at 5:40 am but managed to miss the plane and is back here. Apparantly he got up when his alarm went off - had a piss and went back to sleep...

Having watched some of the footage today - I think certain events will not be shown to the general public.

LMAO good old hagesy. What a bogan! It sounds just like him to do that

Garath can do some hardcore shit. You'll probably see some of it in Dan's next routine
Yeah, pity that Jani Walker>Nemisis back to back I hit was slurry

But, what hardcore shit was I hitting? I was quite impressed with the front shirt to the back shirt move, let alone, dan's under-the-hat stall. I think the only cool thing I hit (and not very well) was that pendulum rake pass off thing, and that should be credited to some English guy I met at Splendor in the Grass.

Anyway, everyone, stay tuned. I'll post some footage of the event asap.
Comment in the BCS blog if you feel the need to.

Ok! I'll do some catching up!!

On the last day of the BCS I woke up two hours late, packed very quickly, went down and caught the bus in the wrong direction. Luckily the bus driver was a nice guy and drove me back a few stops so that I still had a valid ticket. I ended up arriving at the airport about 30 minutes late (I arrived at the time my plane was meant to be taking off 80) but luckily it was delayed by 90 minutes and I didn't miss it! I slept on the plane - arrived in Newcastle, got to my Aunt's house and slept more!

Thursday I went and kicked with Jas and Ian. It was the first time I'd met Jas and I was very impressed with his consistancy and both sidedness. I can barely remember what I hit. We got a lot of props and stuff from locals. Oh and we bumped into Phat Matt Baker - which was very cool!

That night Ian and I went out to a weird art festival thing - which was pretty boring but had awesome beer. We walked home and got lost - ending up walking around in circles for an hour or two. The next day we kicked again with Matt, Jas, Ian and myself. I also got interviewed by some ten year old girls for some radio show. I think I'll be able to give you the link so you can download it tomorrow! Ian and I had horrible shin splints from walking so much.

On Saturday Jas, Matt and I kicked and had some fun. I chilled around with Matt and his brother and brother's girlfriend. I was pretty exausted by this time.

Today I had a kick with some relatives. I was playing ok and hit one nice run with sumo>phoenix>blurry whirl>pdx torque in it. I'm really happy with my game at the moment (although not my style) - it feels like I can hit good runs when I want to. My aunt is moving out so I helped her to move and she was giving a lot of furniture to some refugees from Sudan. They were really cool and it was a lot of fun moving the stuff - they could barely speak english and it was pretty difficult at times. Oh also today I was explain how the add system was a bit fucked to a cousin and I said "for example this is a 5 point move" and dropped pdx da da curve and then said "and this is only worth 4 points" and hit whirr first attempt. This is especially notable because I've been trying to hit whirr a lot during the last few days and haven't been able to. Later I schooled my drifters lots and had a quick swim.

Tomorrow I should have more time to go on the net.

oo shit - I can't believe I forgot to mention this. I'm not sure if it's cool for me to mention this or not but that's never stopped me before ;)

There is a strong campaign to get footbag as a demonstration sport at the next commonwealth games (in Melbourne). I think the games are next year but it's possible they are the year after. Anyway it would be fucking huge - the commonwealth games are the second biggest sporting event in the world (behind the olympics) and are televised in more than 100 nations. If we could achieve it - I would see it as a massive step forward for footbag and a much bigger event for the sport than the world championships. Hopefully we'll manage it and we'll get some support from other commonwealth nations (and anyone else). When we need help I'll let you know!

yeah I heard that too.

Which is good - here starts the 2006 World Championships - Melbourne campaign to coincide with the commonwealth games - I think we can offer a pretty good stadium and coverage - as well as free water all through the event and accomodation at the games village.

Actually I don't know about any of that stuff we can offer but it would be awesome to pull off!

I played a little today - just drilled drifters and torques. Just to clear something up - when I say drill drifters and torques - I'm talking about those as components - I worked on these moves.
toe drifter, clip drifter, pdx drifter, blurry drifter, ducking drifter, vortex, spinning drifter, pixie drifter, tapping drifter, atomic drifter, pdx tapping drifter and nuclear drifter. I did similar stuff with torques although not so many moves and worked on Irish Cream at the end (which I haven't hit).

All both sides - and also some combos - ranging from drifter>ss clipper repeat to blurry drifter>pdx torque (both sides but not repeated as a 4 move combo)

I just mentioned this because often I think people misunderstand what I mean when I say I drilled drifters (or whatever) - I always drill components - never single moves.

I had a nice beach shred today. Mainly just drilled drifters, torques and spinning. I hit a few nice moves and combos but nothing amazing.

A guy who'll hopefully start playing a bit asked me what my guiltless record was and I hit a 40ish contact run on demand - it feels so good to finally be that consistant with my moves - admitadly there was only one 5 in the run I think - blurry whirl - but some good shuffle and variety!! I guess it was dropless too.

I think only Australian's will understand this but the other day I hit a rooted double pickup! :D - we need a sleezy smiley

Had a good kick with Ian yesterday!

A few nice things I hit were

ripwalk>blur>dimwalk>sumo>phoenix>blurry whirl>pdx torque.

matador>sumo>phoenix>blurry whirl>pdx mirage (argh)

as well as a few long runs - it was pretty hot and tough work but lots of fun.

I also hit three 6 add sailing moves which are on camera and the vids should be up soon!

It seems my sailing sets are pretty famous - here is an email from the Greens co-ordinator for the upcoming australian election on saturday!
Hi Jeremy,

Great to hear from you.

Would love you to work at East Ulverstone again. Have booked you in for the day with a couple of others.

Have a try sailing day coming up on 17th Oct at the Leven Yacht Club you may be interested in.

Give me a call when you arrive back on the coast.

Catch you soon

Well I'm back to kicking every day. I had a good kick yesterday - didn't hit anything amazing apart from:

dominatrix>dominatrix

I played touch football for the first time in about 4 months and refed two games (for the first time since about march last year).

The game I played was good - we were playing a pretty shit team but only had 5 players to begin with (we were one short - so it was 5 on 6) - I went pretty hard and scored the first two touch downs of the game. Because it's such a long time since I've had to run - I got some major cramps in the second half but scored 2 more and set one up. It was very hard work because our team is very young and didn't really know what to do so much - so I felt like I had to do a lot of the work. We ended up winning 7-3 and are fourth on the ladder (three wins and a loss I think) Next week we are playing a slightly better team and will be short again so it will be more hardwork.

The main reason I'm playing is because there is a very big high school competition and I'm hoping to recruit some players to footbag. I didn't have time to play at all yesterday until after all the games had finished (I had to ref a game after ours) - but I'd done demos for a few of the schools and I heard a group of girls saying "You should see how good he is at hacky sack" or something like that - I'm pretty sure they were talking about me but it would be cool if they weren't (since I'd have someone to play with) - I had a short kick after though and played with a little boy - maybe 8 years old - who managed to hit a toe kick from an op side toe stall (placed) - but he was very keen and I told him I'd see him next week and we could kick again!

Unfortuantly the association is short of refs and I did a good enough job that they want me to keep doing it. - I get paid in vouchers I can spend at the bar/shop - so I can get 4 beers a night I think :D but I'd prefer to spend the time playing footbag and getting people interested.

Wow...dominatrix > dominatrix is massive! Do you have video of that? I have a really hard time just hitting one dominatrix.

Thanks Chris!

sorry I don't have a video - but I got really close in brisbane and that was on video. I also hit dominatrix bsos a few times in brisbane although I've got no idea if they were on video or not.

I had a shit kick today - my legs were still sore from wednesday night but they slowly got better over the kick. I won't bore you with stories of all the stupid drills I did and moves I almost hit but I did hit one new move:

Sailing ss dyno - which I'm going to name Alien - this move was on request from HackyRichard and I'll let him do the honours :P

My legs have been sore for a week straight from all the shred, and I've never felt better. I don't mind if you list your boring drills and all of the moves you hit.

BTW Alien is one sick and stylie trick.

edit: so as not to sound like a schmuk, I think you hit a cool trick. Props to you.

Thanks for letting me know Jeremy.

On numerous occasions I recall asking what sailing moves have been hit - and I always get very few replies. Then whenever I hit a sailing move nobody has mentioned I post it and immediatly people respond and say "sorry Jeremy someone has already hit that" :x

Anyway I read that and despite having just had a shower - went outside and just hit sailing op dyno. Has this been hit? If not I'm calling it Alien!! And if that names been taken I'm calling it "Fuck You All you MotherFuckers" and quitting footbag forever.

I might be joking about the last sentence.

I'm also pissed off because my flip dynos are so weak and it took so fucking long to hit the move - while the other side was like first or second attempt.

hmm - I may have been a bit hasty there - sorry!! I was pretty annoyed though.

Anyway is what I did today - just for Johnny :D

illusion>op toe stall repeat - I did this for along time - my illusions suck and I wanted to get the down way more solid. The problem is mainly that when I land them I'm leaning slightly to one side and it makes setting out of them often annoying.

I think tried a few of the challanges - I didn't get that close to any of them except pixie neutron smasher - which I footed twice - I think I should hit that soon. I drilled normal neutron smasher for a while - I still haven't hit it flipside but I came pretty close today. It's getting semi consistant on my strong side - I'm sure I could hit it at least once if I had 5 attempts. I think I then went back to hitting my first challange - blizzard>pixie whirl>stepping whirl rep and got really annoyed with my pixie sets and did this drill for a very long time - like 20 minutes:

pixie set hand catch - op side pixie set hand catch - repeat.

I then drilled my whirls - I was mainly hitting pdx whirl>op clip>pdx whirl>op clip etc - just drilling my flipside pdx whirls - sometimes if the set out was bad I'd do a few toe stalls or an osis or something - but I was just trying to get the action feeling right - not linking at all. I then worked on ducking whirls and hit tomahawk bsos but it was a very cheap run - something like butterfly>tomahawk>osis>butterfly>butterfly>pdx mirage>butterfly>tomahawk>osis>butterfly>butterfly>butterfly>tomahawk attempt drop.

I also hit pixie ducking whirl - I think I hit that for the first time on monday but I'm not too sure - it's pretty recent anyway. I tried to hit pixie ducking whirl>tomahawk but I couldn't. I also footed maelstorm for like the 50th time.

I drilled spinning for a while after that and then tried the challange - spinning clipper>spinning osis repeat. My spins are shit except for at the start of runs or out of easy shuffle ending on a butterfly so I couldn't hit it at all. I then drilled spinning out of osis for a while - the drill I was doing was clipp>osis>spinning clip hand catch - repeat - I spent along time doing it on my strong side - then changed to my flip and found for some reason I was heaps better on that side. I wish I new why.

I then hit ok runs - but with nothing big in them - they were all around 20 contacts.

I then tried to hit pixie tap>pixie atomsmasher repeat - but the best I could get was just managing to scrape the third move off the ground - and most of my attempts sucked.

I then remembered my conversation with Richard last night and hit sailing ss dyno and then spent the last 10 minutes trying to hit sailing dlo (footed but not that close) and sailing ss blender (hit but unsealed - so I don't count it)

I then came in - posted in this blog had a shower, came back, read Jeremy Mirkens comment - got angry - went outside and spent 15 minutes trying to hit and eventually hitting sailing op blender - came inside - vented my rage and did the dishes.

Sorry if you found that whole report boring.

edit: normally I am lot more disciplined but I was playing pretty shit today and it was hard to stay focused on one thing when I was hitting it well.

I usually play every day - I think in the last 3 months I would have had less then two weeks break total

I never let anything get to me - I can't even bend my knees :P

today I finally got around to doing some modding on my brand new lavers (thanks to acefootbags!) - all I did was cut the walls off. I still need to take all the stuff out of the insides. I might also do the brocka cut. I was motivated by the fact that the holes in my old lavers are now so big I can't fix them and I destroy a pair of socks every day.

This was the first serious session in shoes other than my old lavers I have had in over 20 months! After getting very frustrated because I kept dropping stupid stuff I decided to just play tiltless and write down all my run lengths. - I did 50 tiltless runs - with 3s and 4s and one run (one of the shortest went like this - clip>sumo>phoenix>blurry motion>attempted ps whirl - I'm not sure what I was thinking but I was happy with the three fearless). Overall I found it very frustrating - I kept dropping stupid stuff and the lavers felt stiff and heavy. Here are the scores (in order that I hit them and the average) - I especially hope that certain people who are trying to go guiltless right now have a look at this and maybe realise that they need to work on going tiltless for a little longer - as I said there were threes and fours in pretty much every run - you don't have to be restricted by adds - especially when you're learning!

21, 57, 11, 12, 26, 17, 11, 12, 27, 18, 74, 8, 32, 11, 4, 9, 58, 22, 11, 4, 4, 54, 71, 3, 50, 5, 5, 37, 7, 43, 30, 2, 9, 32, 6, 27, 26, 7, 5, 8, 26, 10, 32, 85, 32, 36, 11, 15, 30, 14 - total = 1168 contacts average = 23 contacts per run.

I didn't drop at the end of every run. I also think I need to drill my flipside pickup since I think that move was the most dropped move and felt the most awkward. I also discovered that my flip butterfly and flip clipper are on opposite sides - although I don't know if I dropped either (just one felt better than the other. I'm sure I could improve on that once I get used to the shoes - I think I'll do this every day because trying harder moves is too frustrating at the moment. Also I really want to break 100 tiltless and to get the average above 30. I should finally point out that it's entirely possible I made a mistake in adding up the figures since I did it all in my head - if it's important to you for the numbers to be right - you can add them up yourself and let me know! :D
