Video move list permission??

Post by Shredster »

I would just like to ask this question...

Should people ask permission before transcribing a video in the video move list thread?

see i figure that the permission should be attained at the filming stage not the distribution stage.

Either getting permission or just knowing you have permission :D

A better question, I think.

Should I ask permission before I watch a video?

While I think that everybody will give you permission and that you don't need to - I think it certainly wouldn't hurt and the people who made the videos would feel good about it - but I don't think anybody would resent you if you don't ask permission - but I guess it only takes 10 seconds to send a pm and another 10 to read it - um I don't know if I actually have an opinion here - do it if you want to but don't worry if you forget!

Yeah, the only thing i'm worried about is the peopel that don't check their pm's...then i'll never know if i can do them or not :( But yeah, i think i'll ask permission from now on.

I don't see why. You are writing down moves and combos that are
free to see for everyone. It's not that you're telling a secret, right?

Agreed .. I can't believe this is even a topic of debate.

If the shredder or filmmaker is okay with their video being seen by the public, I'm pretty sure that implies they are okay with people understanding what combos are in a video, since we will be able to see them anyway.

I could see a difference if it wasn't an online video and you were transcribing a video that is for sale ... That could be a problem if the videomaker wanted certain runs to be secret, or surprise people when they saw them, but even that is a bit of a stretch.
