Brandon Vasos- Feet on Fire.

Post by dblthnk84 »

Freshman year at highschool I saw some kids kicking out front of the building and thought it looked fun. I found a Discovery Zone footbag at home that I had won years before and started kicking it. A week or two later I joined those kids and found out that I had already surpassed everyone in the school when it came to consecutives. I learned the few delays and 'tricks' that they could do and some that they thought up. That got boring by the end of freshman year, so I went with other intrests while still kicking on and off that summer. The next year I was kicking with the kids at school every day and really enjoyed it, but was getting bored with just kicks and the occasionial toliet stall, so I decided to look 'Hacky Sack' up on the internet. I found footbag.com 8O
After about a week of that I had learned all of their tricks, this was before their new trick sight that has 20 godzillion 'tricks' on it. So I decided to look for more tricks from other sites. This time I got lucky and found flipsider.com and with it footbag.org . After about a year of that I could hit most of the single dex tricks, and severial three adds. I then got invited by Mark to a shred in Sterling Heights and met GF Smoothie and severial others from around Michigan and realized how much more there was to this sport. There is a large difference between seeing a video of a trick on the internet and seeing a 50+ contact run. I was in awe and I think that is when I actually got hooked on the sport.
Just having graduated highschool I have attended my first worlds and life is good. For those interested I had a great time, got to kick with severial pros and the only complaints I have were that some jerk of an electrician or whatever left the intermediates in the dark (and my only footbag at the time was a faded red and black Mr. which I could not see at all) and that I wish they would have had all the winners from the competitions honored at the awards. Still, it was a great experiance and I can't wait until I get to my next tournament/shred.

As for imediate effects that worlds will have on my play I have decided to work on run length, dragons and knee rolls (yes I had the privalege to kick with Outsider), ducks (I think they look awesome), and less on hitting newer and bigger tricks.

New records as of today for me:
Toe Delay 88
Pixie 32
Fairy 2
Leg Over 36
Pickup 2
PLO 21
Duck 2
Dragon 1 (Both sides)

New Tricks I hit at worlds:
Quantum Mirage
Symposium Quantum Pickup
Flipside Pixie DaDa (my third tripple dex)
Clipper Set DLO (Both Sides)
Rip Walk (Almost Both Sides)
and I almost landed a ducking DLO, nailed it with my heel and sent it flying.

And as for others posting in my footblog, have fun- but please don't get carried away with useless posts.

Maybe, I didn't do much talking and I can't remember names. I had a black cap (old geezer style, not baseball) and I was unshaven. Most of the stuff I was hitting in circles were pixie shuffle runs.

Today I had fun and boosted severial records.

Corpse Grinder - 194
Pixie - 43
Leg Over - 42
PLO - 24

As for Dragons I'm finding that its easier for me to do like an osis, by doing a half spin into them, but my sets from them are not consistant enough for me to link to anything yet though...

I also had severial 10+ guiltless shuffle runs, which always make me feel good

Wow. I've had three good sessions in three days. I think that could have something to do with the fact that I don't move on to the fun stuff untill I've broken severial of the personal records that I'm working on.

For today:
Pixie - 56
Fairy - 4
Legover - 47
Pickup - 5
PLO - 25 (on my first and only try today)
Osis Dragon - 2 (severial times, and I'm going to have to find out its name.)

And I hit two new tricks.
gyro DLO out of Dragon
And a downtime Quantum Mirage! 8O

All in all my session was more than adequate.

Today sucked. My only new record is 3 ducks.

I also hit dragon to walkover. That was bl33pin hard on the ankles in that position.

I had ducking miriaging mirage? bounce off the side of my shoe, but I don't think I'll land it anytime soon.
Jobs would be set > duck > op in > op in > bounce off op foot.

I'm angry that I tried new tricks almost the entire time instead of working on my runs.

Been working on my run length. averaging about 30 tiltless, but only 6-8 guiltless. My trick varriety in guiltless runs has definately gone up. Today's highlights were the following:

smear > miraging pincher > dragon osis > hand catch
25 PLO's
dragon osis > walkover > toe > PLO > Smear > ss Miraging Pincher > leg over > butterflyer > pdx mirage (planted) > bailed dragon osis ( I love this variety :P )

I hit pixie zulu corpsegrinder and almost had atomic dlo.

Just for kicks the triples I've hit are:
Pixie DLO (bs)
Pixie DaDa (bs)
Pixie Butterfly Swirl

and my fives are (not counting triples):
Pheonix
Pheonix Flyer
Pixie buterfly Pincher (bs)
Pixie Osis Pincher (bs)
pixie ducking xbd pincher (bs)
Pixie Butterfly Osis Dragon
Dimwalk heel (bs)
Dimwalk sole

I cut out the last 2 eyelets on my lavers today, didn't really hit much yet. I've been adding alpha DLO to my runs. Not really anything to report, I think I'm going to go for pixie ducking dlo again. Maybe I can get it now.

New triple: sailing ss mirage
I'm hoping to add a legover to that by the end of the year. A quad sounds nice. :) Atomic DLO rolled off my foot again.

26 Plos
9 Smear (4 flip)

13 guiltless run, and severial 10-11 contact runs, severial with 4 add tricks (symp Quantum LO, butterfly pincher, fairy/atomic dragosis). I've kicked for an hour plus the last 5 days in a row, and its starting to show off. I'm happy. Woohoo. I'm going for a walk now.

Pixie DLO mid run.
at least 10 10+ contact guiltless runs.

new tricks:
Sailing ss pickup
Sailing neckstall

Good session, my runs are getting longer. Pixie Shuffle seems easy. My first tripple midrun. Twice. I need to work on my dragons alot more, but that can wait untill tommorow. My legs need rest.

Argh! My stupid knees. I hit sailing mirage and pixie zulu butterfly, but my runs were lacking. Yesterday I hit sailing legover, I think I'm getting the hang of the sailing set. Need to work on it some flipside though.

thx. Its was your topic that encouraged me to start messing around w/ this. :D I don't know how long until I duck a sailing set. I could probably do it by the end of the week if I tried. A little longer if I wanted to hit anything simple out of it (ie. butterflyer, flying clipper, butterfly). That might be a little optimistic, but I don't have trouble ducking atomic or pixie...

still haven't ducked my sailing set, even though I have hit my neck a couple times, and caught it on top again. I think I'll be able to get it soon, but I'm always optimistic on that.

I've kicked the last five days, so thats good. See if I can keep it up and whatnot. I had a sixteen contact run yesterday which made me happy. I think I had 9 or 10 uniques in it. :D

33 PLOs, almost had the 34th.
Getting happier with my string length, most of my runs were 5-7 contacts, and it wasn't unusall for me to get over 10. Still kicking with variety.
I think I'm doing the sailing set wrong, or am not ready for it because its been hurting my knees. I think I'm going to drop it for a while.

I had one string that didn't seem to want to end. It was over 20 contacts guiltless and made me feal like this: :D  :D
Its nice to see that my strings are starting to lengthen. I think that when I can hit 20 on average then I'll start working on more variety. I had 8 uniques in that run, but I also had around 8-10 plo's spread through out it.

great session today! Many 10+ strings, including 2 that were over 20 guiltless. No BOP's. :D Of course I'd be more supprised if I hit 5 contacts all BOP instead of 20 without. Hahahaha. That was a funny.

Dude just so you know, you share the same name as a very famous college hockey player up here. His number was retired and everything. But I didn't like him since he came from UAF (Uni. of Alaska Fairbanks) and I support UAA (Uni. of Alaska Anchorage)(Don't ask why Alaska comes before the city name) You might not care but I thought that was cool.
