Logitech can...something-something...

Post by Muffinman »

This is pretty lengthy, but it is really dumb and I'm pissed off:

Thank you for contacting Logitech Customer Support. You should receive a response to your inquiry within one business day.

The fact that I have waited 4 business days since I submitted my enquiry, regarding the absense of my mail-in rebate, I must come to the conclusion that you treat all of your customers in the same disregarding fashion. Lower than the most inconsiderate customer service I have, in my life, witnessed (coincidentally and unrelatedly through Future Shop) is the customer service (or lack thereof) I appear to be recieving in regards to the purchase of your product. Please contact me regarding the two $15 rebates I was guaranteed at the purchase date and within the postmarked date of my mail-in rebates.
Sincerely,
Erik Chan

To whom it may concern:
I purchased two Logitech Quickcam Messenger webcams at Futureshop, here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, back in August. I purchased this specific model knowing that I would recieve $15 back through mail-in rebate for each camera. I mailed my rebate forms and proof of purchases with barcodes to the address given on the Futureshop.ca website about a month ago.

This is the URL for the mail-in rebate offer that I was given by Futureshop (who sold me your product) -- it states that the mail-in rebate offer is valid from, "July 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004" and that the rebate forms must be postmarked by "January 31, 2005". Not only did I purchase my Logitech Quickcam Messenger webcams in August, 2004 but I mailed my rebate forms and proof of purchases in September, 2004 -- completely within the given dates.

On Octoboer 7, 2004 I recieved a message in the mail stating the following:

Dear Erik Chan:

You Are receiving this notification because you have not complied with the terms of the offer due to the following reasons:
Submission not postmarked within allotted days of purchase date

We hope you will participate in future promotional offers.

Considering the information I have provided above in contrast to the information sent to me in the mail can you give me a good reason as to why I would choose, ever, to participate in one of your future promotional offers?

I followed every step provided to claim my $15 mail-in rebates (two of them) and did so within the limits you set and still I did not receive my rebates.

Please contact me as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time,

Erik Chan

wow, that's pretty crappy.
I've had rebates take 2-3 months to come back to me, but I've never had one returned like that. :P

I often send my rebates in months after the date of purchase... And sometimes I never send them (and hence, never get the rebate)... I'm a sucker for rebates, then often times they get lost. :(

Is there a technical support line? Cause actually talking to them is alot easier to get things handled then via e-mail.

All you have to do is be firm about what happened, and demand what you want. Something very similar happened to my friend last week. Verizon cancelled his phone service because he did not pay his bill in 3 months. When we moved to SIT, his parents never fowarded him the phone bill and they didnt pay it. It turns out he was charged $663.90 for the phone bill, 300 alone for September when he used 1000 ( A THOUSAND?!) minutes. It also turns out that he doesn't have IN, where verizon customers get free mobile to mobile. So he was charged a huge amount for it since he got his plan before then and they never updated it to include in. And he called to complain, and guess what, he's the most passive kid and he will take anything the customer service guy said to him. I wanted to take the phone and scream at the guy for him, it just made me so frustrated that just because he wasn't willing to argue with him he would have to pay 660 bucks. All of my experiences with Verizon have taught me that if you're firm you can get what you want. Hope that helps.

Well I found another source to send pestering emails to. No reply yet, but we'll see. I like to avoid verbal confrontation when at all possible. I had to call Canada Post a while back because I sent a package (freshly baked food stuffs) express (2 business days) and It hadn't arrived after a week. I checked the tracking number on the internet and found that it was sitting in some small town a few hours from it's destination since the second day. Canada Post sent me a cheque a few weeks later because of my complaint. I guess if it comes down to it I will call (or get somebody to call for me @______@)

That also reminds me of a situation involving my friend.

Basically, he moved in to a new home and asked Telus to allow his computer to connect to the internet. They said they would after a few days. He phoned them, being as kind and understanding as he could be and they said they would do it in the next few days.

Those days came and went.

He phoned again, still being as kind as he could, and they apologized and said that they would do it immediately.

A few days came and went.

Finally, he phoned them up for the last time. He claimed that he was a a stock manager (or associated with the stock market) and for every day he was not able to manage his company via the internet he was losing huge amounts of money. He sounded pissed off, swearing his head off and bringing up how badly their service was.

They connected him within an hour of his phone call
