awesome session today... Brian Cona came for the first time... two PM, this dready kid shows up at my house in clunk-o skate shoes. we step out to warm up while Tom and Steve show up. I discover a *HOLE IN MY BRAND NEW CAROL BAG*.... WHAT THE FUCK. I've heard rumors about Carols going bad lately... anyway. I kick around a little bit, Brian gets the bag. he does a bunch of infinities with no plants and osis and clipper and some around the worlds and some really awesome uptime mirages that look more like hippy quantum sets and symposium reverse whirl first try!! it was pretty nuts, I said "nice symp reverse whirl" and he just kinda looked confused and said "I don't really know move names and adds and stuff." Tom and Steve arrived, and we went down the street to play at a more open place. the hole in my carol got a lot bigger. we saw a car accident, this woman in an SUV rear ended this guy in a small sedan and fucked up his whole back end. I hit a few more good jani walkers, and my flip furious set was starting to seem possible. Brian hit his first ripwalk by the end of the session, and was starting to grasp his pixie and quantum sets (!). totally insane. he's going to be so good once he gets some lavers, and he's totally into doing so. and he's got a weird fat little jack russell terrier named Globber. That dog was insane.

good times. we went to MacGregor's afterwards and had a few pitchers. He'll be back. he's going to be a good freestyler.

good session today with Steve and Chris. Chris and I started outside, and moved in after Steve got there.

I hit

- swirling drifter, but after that, my swirling set died for the rest of the session.

- tapping eggbeater for the first time.

- swirling mirage bsos

- stepping ducking far pickup ending on inside > walkover

- clip set SS butterfly swirl BSOS for the first time and infin swirl B2B in the same string.

- flip ripstein for the second time.

- sumo for the first time

- symp flurry

- rubberman > ripwalk > ripwalk > blurry whirl > blurry whirl

barraging sets weren't too good today. I think they're starting to hurt my knees, does anyone have any tips on keeping them safe? I think I'll start a post in the Trick Tips section or whatever it's called.

next session, I hope to work on my barraging set on both sides, spins on both sides, swirling sets both sides (SO FRUSTRATING!!! AAAAHHHHGHGHG), and keeping my string length up. I need better endurance...

playing a lot is paying off, both in me and the newer players around here. If things keep up like this, Rochester is really going to establish itself as a focal point for freestyle in New England. how exciting... I hope our tournament in the spring ends up going down.

Actually, other RFA members, if we're gonna do this thing, we should start planning it now. We need to

-secure a venue

-secure crash space and possibly a host hotel. Does RIT offer discounts at its hotel for student events?

-secure some kind of sponsorship. I've already been offered a few cases of drinks from a Vitamin Water representative for a Rochester Footbag event. Vitamin Water is basically Gatorade with much less sugar and no dyes or preservatives or whatever. Super tasty. Anyways, things like that. Sponsorship with product is awesome. Maybe I can get my friends who run the screening shop to offer us something at a reduced rate for event shirts.

-IFPA SANCTIONING!! if we do this, then anything we get for sponsorship can be a tax write-off for our sponsors, making us much more attractive to them. I'm an IFPA member, so I guess once we have the dates and a venue locked in, I can work on this.

what else? let's start thinking about this so it actually happens.

We really should work on the club forms/getting an event going ASAP. As for a hoodie, i'm down with anything thats comfortable and says footbag on it somewhere 8) and you cant go wrong with $20/each

We should all sit down and discuss/prepare the paperwork for the club sometime this week (i'm free after 4 mon-thurs)

sponsors at our event would be sweet! i f-ing love vitamin water.. get as much as you can!

as for todays shred: only thing i'll say is that i'm in a footbag funk. things i've learned recently just don't work, and im dropping on the simplest moves. massive school sessions on the basics are in order.

I know what you mean, steve. I need to spend some time drilling the foundations, plus building up my stepping and overall string length again... at one point they were so good but every time I learn something new I seem to lose the ability to do something else.

does anyone know the dates for this event in the spring? Also, we should get an idea of who would come. Rochester is in a pretty good location to get freestylers from all around... we're definitely accessible to Montreal and middle Canada; and if we promote it well, I bet we could attract much of the East Coast scene. There are lots of big names that would potentially show up, and that help a lot in getting others here. If you book them, they will come.

Sounds good to me. Personally, I think an event does not have to be huge to be good. Just pick dates that work for you. I suppose you should avoid "Finals" time, for the sake of all you student types. And as for hoodies vs. sweatshirts, and sponsorships etc., I say book the venue first, annouce your plans, and worry about the extras later. Remember your own words:
If you book them, they will come.

solo session today at home. I didn't hit any of the things I had hoped I would, but I did hit flipside swirling blender, ripstein> hand catch > op ripstein > hand catch X2, and I hit flipside whirling swirl 3 attempts in a row. and what else... flipside zigzag. and some kick set ducking and diving butterflies both sides, and kick ducking mirage too. It was a good session.

as for now, I'm going to go to a party. It's someone's birthday, and they're going to have a stripper. This should be fun... I'm off to grease up some dollar bills.

Ugh. I have no idea why I'm posting. I've got a little time before my next class and mountain dew is more filling than a grilled cheese sandwich made by some big intimidating guy at our dining hall.
I didn't realize the diversity of people who happen to be reading this blog. It's weird. Just people from all over respond. I guess that makes sense and that's the purpose of it. It just means that now I have to watch what I say and try not to be myself. I'll just lie and be like, "Yeah it was an okay session today. Hit nemesis > barfly (repeat) and bedwetter bsos." instead of "omfg! I hit whirl twice today in long pants!!! LoL blah blah! Tiltless! Blah!" . . which I did last night by the way while watching people play nintendo.
Oh! Here's a cool story. I really hope people are still reading this by now because this is actually pretty funny. I play ultimate frisbee for Nazareth and I was going nuts yesterday in the game. I was guarding this one guy and he tried to fake me out but he only got my less coordinated half of my body leaving my footbag powers to go to work. I lashed out with an outside kick his hand just before he threw it and he dropped it. I was happy. I also toe stalled the frisbee a few times and clipped it up to myself when I was thrown the disc.

pat said, "yes".

slow session today... my alcohol to food intake ratio has been a little fucked up over the past day or so. Kinda weak today... only one new move, swirling bubba. wait, two, I hit zulu mirage as well. I hit a few more swirling infinities. Turns out Chris Dean has a swirling set up to his face he didn't know about.... 8O

oh yeah, the other day I hit double inside smush (where you catch it out of the air with both feet)> set up to xbd position> ps whirl.

Kick 'Til You're Sick, here comes rochester... We're gonna have a carload.

Not the prettiest double over down you've ever seen. But struck nonetheless. I don't understand how I can play footbag for hours and hours and only be slightly tired but then play ultimate frisbee for less than an hour and have sore legs the next day. Well I mean I know WHY it happened. But I can still complain about it. So I will. there.

Today's session was pretty good, had some nice long strings, and I've discovered that my pdx illusions are much better than my non-pdx illusions. Tried incorporating them as much as possible today. I hit tap on both sides for the first time which was nice. My atomic set disappeared for a while, for a couple reasons, but now its much better then it was...

Hey I was just check our site because it is that kewl and I noticed that I could tell you what greg pestillo is and likes and all that.
His stance is right sideways
His favorite bag is the Mr. Sandbag
His favorite tricks are the PS mirage, paradox illusion, and bubba.

And aric. Quick remark: I didn't realize you wanted our favorite tricks. Those that are listed next to me really aren't my favorite TRICKS. Just styles that I'll prefer in the future. My favorite tricks would have to be the Twirl, Food Processor and anything having to do with dragons. So um. . just stick in one or two of those if you wouldn't mind. It's been eating away at me something awful these past few days. Thankya.
