Just to clear something up. Kevin and I had a long discussion about this by the way. "The Game" is capitalism. Ashley Simpson is doing what she can do gain capital (wealth). I think you probably know my thoughts on capitalism already.

The goal of capitalism is for individuals to gain as much wealth (capital) as they can.

The goal of socialism is to progress society.

I know which one sounds better to me...

OK. I actually saw the event! The one night in years I actually watched SNL...

Here's exactly what happened:

The band started playing song A:
Ashlee started dancin' around to the beat of song A:
The voice track (lipsync track) started up, with a different song!! Song B.
Ashlee immediately lowered her mic from her mouth, but the voice track kept going!
The band was then smart enough to switch songs, and almost seamlessly started to play song B to match the voice track!!
The voice track then faded out completely...
Ashlee looked extremely confused, and started dancing around the stage (maybe we didn't notice???) Then maybe she got scared, and ran off of the stage (smiling, not sobbing, maybe laughing a bit)
The band rocked out alone for about 10-20 seconds, then they cut to commercials.

At the end of the show, Ashlee had the nerve to say her BAND started playing the wrong song!! It was the lip sync tech that played the wrong song, not the band. The band just very professionally switched songs to compensate for the error.

So in essense, she wasn't talented enough to just start singing (as if they'd give her a live microphone anyway though...), her band did an awesome job recovering, and she still blasts the band at the end of the show, in front of the nation. If I were in that band, I'd quit right there on the spot.

well now from MTV news, she is now blaming the situation from her hectic schedule and saying her voice was worn out.

you can read from MTV's website right here:

*highfive hacksterbator* im all about capitalism too...though i hate shitty music. hey, if she can get people to pay for that shit, good for her. the only real question is, why am i not doing the same thing? it could be the lack of famous family. oh well

Randy is fooled! Just like MTV.

It was simply someone posing as Ashlee, on her forum.

OMG

I kinda feel bad for her, but that was plain old rediculous.

I don't have much to say about this whole capitolism thing, and anyone who thinks she is in the right somehow, your wrong. Shes a friggin hack, shes not a singer. If you aren't performing live, don't bother. People come there to see you do something then and there, not something that was recorded earlier.

Imagine paying for tickets to a talk show, say... Oprah. You get the tickets, fly to wherever they film it, and get into the studio and then... BAM! There is just a huge television screen in front of the audience showing what was previously recorded earlier that day. Those people would be outraged and would probably never watch Oprah again. I know that this is a relative relational comparison, but the ethics are very much alike.

Im sure that in the SNL audience, more then 50% were fans of this ditz. Im sure they were still entertained by the comedy, but if they would have known that she would be lipsyncing, they wouldnt have bought the friggin tickets.

Another valid question; "Would you pay to go to a concert that advertised the band as "Lipsyncing @ this venue because the lead singer is worn out."

Would you?

No. You wouldn't.

I hope her label fires her.

wow I felt really bad for her... up until the point were she blamed her band, and that just made me kind of angry. I agree that her music is bad, but I kind of like it that people like it. I wouldn't want my music to start being popular or anything... but yeh yea socialism... go karl marx!

It's sad somehow that she gets all the blame for a pop music industry
where nearly every "star" has his voice manipulated, altered and
changed so much that you can't reproduce it live. She was just unlucky
that it hit her, but it could've been any other Christina, Britney or whatever.

I've seen a documentary about the making of some pop song, don't
remember who it was, some starlet of the Britney-kind, you know.
They let her record almost every syllable seperately, and every syllable
had to be exactly like the producers wanted. She didn't sing even one
line of lyrics in one piece...

No wonder they can't stand up to this on stage.

Anyway, it's music that will fade away faster than it appeared.

Life, as the media and the economy wants us to, is all about Fastfood.
Whether it be food, clothes, music or whatever thing they make us
believe we have to buy. Work buy consume die.

A friend of mine said "For everything that you really need in life, there
is no advertisement needed. Ads are only for things you don't need,
else they wouldn't have to advertise it.

Woah, I'm rambling. This got a little off-topic there.

so is there like 3 excuses? band, worn out voice, and acid reflux? this is really stupid and she wouldn't be anything if it wasnt for her sister.

Part of the problem is that a decade ago the record companies were a means to get bands distributed. Now those same companies are "creating" those bands. They suck, 99% of them. And then the industry blames downloading for poor sales. How about the fact that your pop community finally got it's fill of sugar-coated feces and the latest batch makes everyone vomit...
