Ankle Crankability
I need to get my ankle crank alot.. crankyer.
My clip is decent, ok, moderate, but I know i need it more reliable as I am too toey right now.
This thread is for people to post different stretches or other methods of helping your clippers get that extra crank. I want like Jim Penske crank.
P.S. New forum idea! Stretches and footbag related health chat! word.

I can tell you what NOT to do.
Do NOT stand on the sides of your ankles to streach them... or jump up and down on the sides of them. This weakens your ankles, this is why ive rolled my ankles 5 times in the last year playing footbag
!
I think its best just to stand round for a few minutes a day trying to bend your foot into and inside stall asmuch as possible.

If you want to go hardcore then you can always crosstrain you clippers
Just get one of those serious(like 5 pound) ankle weights and stand in clipper and lower it to the ground then bring it to its highest point, all in your most full out tweak.
I actually did this for a week or two every day after my solo schooling cuz my flip clipper was not tweaky enough and it worked!
Same idea as the traffic cone drill for speedy dexes.
I wonder how many people cross train?

Yeah... Chris has rightShredPirate wrote:muscles can stretch up to like 20% or something like that i think. but ligaments can only stretch like 5%. and i would think that ankle flex is 80% ligament based at least.

I've always heard those ankle weights are bad for the knees, though. A friend of mine had sprained his ankle pretty bad once and his therapist showed him some exercises for the ankle using a large rubber band for resistance. If you're interested but can't find any with web searches, I'll try and get them for you, Seath.

I have found that playing footbag has greatly increased my ankle flexibility - when I started I had no crank - now I think my ankles are fairly flat.
You just need to drill clippers lots and work on pulling your toes up. I think it's about muscles - not flexabilty - if you build up the right muscles in your feet you will have flat ankles.
Or maybe I was flexible but weak in my feet and so I now have full use of my flexiblitly or something like that.

You also spelled his first name wrong, as well as `which.` That was classic.
Dunno why that cracked me up so badly. Hope I didn`t come off like a dick, that wasn`t the intention. Anyway, Jon Schneider. He`ll tell you that he`s not that flexible, and that it`s all about good balance. I would agree, since his ankles don`t have the MacKenzie/Penske/Vasek crank to them.

yeh it would be good to see some pics/videos of peoples ankle crank and also clipper stance including hips and everything. Because i think my clipper stance can be pretty horrid sometimes esp on one side, it looks weird
and my ankles have shit-all crank so i need lots of help!
id like to know what the right hip position/clipper stance is so i can try and emulate it
anyway keen to post their stance in a vid or something please?
