Poster desing request

Hi everybody,

at my current internship in a printing plant (I have to do that for my study as practical training) I have to oppertunity to print large :) So I ask you guys if someone would like to desing a poster for the Munich Footbag crew. The only prerequisite I have is that the writing www.munich-footbag.de is on that poster. And yes it should be footbag related ;)
Now for the technical requirements:
The size should be 100 cm * 70 cm (you can make it edgewise or abeam)
Set the color mode to CMYK (nobody needs RGB in the printing business :))
Save it either as .tif or as an photoshop file
If you need space where you can upload the picture just send me an e-mail: [email protected]

I appreciate any proposals! And I'm really looking forward to see your drafts.

I am in a graphics class. i just made a small poster about 80 cm by 60 cm.

It has the red and blue background with the white guy doing a clipper. You know, like the footbag logo. And it says Footbag.org, Check it out!


but yea those printing classes are easy as pie and fun as hell! nice choice!

RGB printing is the only way to go if you want high quality printing.

All of our large format printers are CMYK . . . probably for a very good reason.

Yeah, I suspect that reason is cost and convinence (sic?). There's not a CMYK printer in the world that can even come close to the quality my RGB printer makes.

Nobody uses RGB in professional print applications.

It doesn't really matter that the color spectrum of the subtractive CMYK color space is smaller than that of the additive RGB . . . because RGB can not be converted accurately to what comes out on paper at a professional printing service. CMYK presevers colors more accurately for print. For display on video monitors, RGB is the prefered spectrum.

It has to do with the physics of mixing pigments compared with mixing light wavelengths.

The quality of our images for publication is evaluated by how close the print matches the monitor. Anything printed at equivalent dpi will look equally sharp, it's about preserving the integrity of the data.

My printer doesn't use pigments it uses light. My company sells RGB printers to professionals everyday. I print photographs on photo paper then I process them through a photochemical process (RA-4).

Then RGB is best for you because you are using addititive color space instead of subtractive, the same as a tv or monitor, and have a much larger spectrum of colors available.

I'm reasonably certain you would not print a poster that way . . . seems geared more toward professional photographers that want the highest quality prints, and not someone wanting to make a $7 poster.
