I wish I had more background at what went down at the pentagon, but damn... this points out some pretty creepy things.

Just what happened?

I saw a site shortly after 911 with a lot of this information on it.

It's pretty interesting, makes you question a lot.

Another thing that was on the *other* site that I saw, something about resodding the lawn outside the pentagon the following day, even though it didn't appear to need it. I can't recall exactly though...I wish I knew the site.

Creppy. Maybe I shouldn't have watched it at 12 30 at night...

The thing that really gets me is that there was no wake turbalnce. If a 747 flew that close over the high way it would rip off the signs toss cars around and shit.

But if it was a missle what the fuck happened to that flight? Thats the creepy thing.

Whoa, thinking about this is freaking me out! I need to go read someones blog to calm down.....

Personally I think it's a load of bullshit.

Firstly there is no reason for the US government to cover up the events if it was a missile or something else. Why would they do it? The suggestion is that they planned the attacks for some reason - to go to war in Iraq for oil perhaps. Personally I find this too far fetched. I hate the current administration but I don't think they'd attack the pentagon or anywhere else. You saw the huge impact the attacks had on the economy and the impact the war has had on the economy, on the people and on oil. Considering how many people have correctly predicted the outcome of the war on Iraq (ecomonic and social chaos) - I can't imagine that a government could plan an attack against their own country with such devience and yet not be able to predict the outcome of the attack.

Secondly we come to the laws of physics. The crashed planes shown in the video are all planes that were trying to land and were going much slower.

As they mention - the 757 was travelling at 400 - 500 miles per hour. The impact of such a collision would be huge. Just look at the damage caused when two cars collide - with a total vector based speed of 120 miles. The damage caused is not linear - it's exponential!! Planes are built to be as light weight as possible - that's why they can fly - because they weight so little. Sorry to scare people who may be flying in the future - but they are very flimsey!! A plane flying into a solid obeject at the speed mentioned would be absolutely annialated. You would expect a very small amount of remains to be left. Certianly the wings - would be completely destroyed. A good knowledge of physics will also tell you that if the object the plane is flying into is very solid - made to withstand bomb attacks etc. to some degree - it will be damaged a lot less than the plane. For example when a car has a head on collision with a truck - the truck is a lot less damaged than the car. As mentioned a plane is made to be as light weight as possible - a Pentagon is not!! - The relative momentum would be such that for the Pentagon it would be like colliding with another Pentagon at about 2 miles per hour.

The damage caused to the Pentagon is pretty strange - but nobody has ever researched what kind of damage a 757 plane flying into the Pentagon at 500 miles per hour would cause. Due to the chaos theory - it would be almost impossible to predict the results and the most minute changes in angle, speed or place of impact could create a huge change in the appearance of the collision zone.

Finally in regards to the pilot - It is more than concievable that the CIA and FBI didn't identify all the terrorists that were in the planes. As Osama Bin Ladin has recently said - the attacks were motivated by the US support for Israel. Many many people also disagree with what Israel is doing in Palestine and the US support. I am one of those people and while I'm also a pacifist - it is very easy to imagine a person of Non Arab decent feeling strongly enough for the cause and having morals such that he or she would launch an attack on the US. Would the FBI picked it up if some of the pilots weren't Arabs? Considering that a friend of mine (who is a Sheik and Indian) travelled recently to the US and was "randomly" selected to undergo a full security check twice - I think the US is directly looking for Arab terrorists and not people of different back grounds.

Basically I think its a load of crap and I find I hope that people would question such heavy natured accusations a little more. There is very little - if any - referencing - we are simply to believe what we are being told? That's shit!

yeah thanks,

I just wanted to mention that I don't really know the details of this particular case - While everything I've said is true - it could easily be that the person who made that site could take apart everything I've said. His site is putting out the information - it's not rebutting the rebuttles to the information.

Ultimatley I think you should question what I wrote as much as I questioned that site - Question everything!!

Even if a 757 was travelling at 500 miles an hour, there would still be debris scatttered. And what about bodies? Have they found any of the passangers of the plane that hit the Pentagon?

You make a good point Jeremy - planes were built to be lightweight to reduce the amount of work needed to fly. But this is a fucking 757! Even if it's built lightweight, it still weighs roughly 250k kg which is massive. With that weight and speed, it's momentum would surely be enough to make a big crater in the ground, nonetheless a building.

Possibly - but I think you need to understand the phyics of collisions.

Firstly things are relative - what this means is that there is no difference between a plane flying into the pentagon at 500miles and the pentagon flying into a plane at 500 miles - the collision is the same.

Now imagine for a second that a normal plane - weighing it's full 250 tonnes is sitting on the runway when suddenly out of nowhere a Pentagon flies into it at 500 miles per hour. What's going to happen to the plane?

Physics will tell you that f=ma - that is force equals mass times acceleration - and what this means is that the force of required to move an object is proportional to the mass of the object. How much force do you think it would take to move a Pentagon so that it is travelling at 500 miles per hour? A huge amount!! - The Pentagon is a massive structure and weighs thousands of times more than a plane. Now in a collision the energy is transfered from one moving object to another. But in a closed system energy is conserved (ie it doesn't just dissapear).

In the collision in question we have two objects - one is stationary. The other is moving at a very fast rate (500 miles per hour) - staying still takes no energy - but moving at 500 miles per hour takes a lot! We can even work out this energy as follows - kE=1/2MV^2 or Kinetic energy equals mass times velocity squared divided by 2. In physics you tend to use the bass unit (actually we use kg - no g)and we'll convert the miles to meters per second as well. Therefor our equation is (250,000*804650^2)/2=kE=80,932,702,812,500,000 - or lets round it off - 80 peta joules (80*10^15 joules) - that's how much energy the plane had when it hit the pentagon. (The same amount of energy you would get from eating 179,850,450,694 bowls of cereal approx). Now this is a lot but lets put in comparison to the Pentagon. Now I can't find any information relating to how much the Pentagon weighs and my Mum is currently using the kitchen scales so I couldn't check but it is safe to assume it weighs more than 1 billion ton - so at least 4 million times more than the plane. So the amount of energy needed to move an object that size 1 m can be calculted in a long and drawn out manner. If you really want me to write out a few pages of equations I will - but just believe me when I say that the energy the plane had was many times less than what would be needed to move the pentagon 1 metre.

So we went from having 80 peta joules of energy in the plane to having nothing. After the collision nothing was moving and there was no energy. Where did all that energy go?

In a high energy collision such as this the energy would be turned into 3 different kinds of energy. It was all kinetic originally - a large amount would be turned into sound. That's why you hear the impact. A large portion would be turned into light (that's why you see a bright light - aka a flame) and the majority of it would be turned into heat.

Rub your hands together for me really fast right now. You'll feel warmth. You are turning a small amount of kinetic energy into a small amount of heat energy. The plane flying into the pentagon didn't involve a small amount of energy - it involved a large amount of energy - so there was a large amount of heat. A large amount of heat does not mean that things catch on fire or that there is a large fire ball. Fire is a chemical reaction requiring the right chemicals to work. Stone and aluminium are not usually considered the right materials. So much of the plane would have been subjected to enourmas heat and been destroyed. The heat would have immediatly dispersed - because that's what heat does according to the second law of thermodynamics.

Basically this collision is like punching a brick wall - try it now. Ouch - you see it damages your hand - because it has a low mass and thus the relavent force is much greater - but it doesn't hurt the brick wall.

I hope that all makes sense and you don't want me to calculate how much energy it takes to move the Pentagon 1 metre. It's possible I've made some mistakes since I gave up learning physics more than 18 months ago and find it all pretty boring these days.

You remind me of a young me, but with more energy and a pacifist attitude.

When I first saw the animation and read the gossip in this thread, I stopped and thought to myself, "someone should probably explain the law of physics a bit, and maybe even explain that a plane is nothing more than a large tin can."

Very good Jeremy. My point would have been similar without all the boring equations (boring to some, I found them fascinating   ).

Basically the plane hit with such force that the plane's own fuel exploded, vaporizing the plane and its contents. Without fuel the plane would have still been crushed like a tin can and vaporized. The shear pressure alone is enough to melt aluminum or at least alter it in such a way as to be unrecognizable upon impact.

The pentagon is a marvel in and of itself, so it is no wonder that the impact looked more like a bullet entry hole than an exploded exit wound. But let's think about that for a second shall we.

When a bullet such as a .357 caliber hits a target it pierces the entry and explodes out on exit. What causes this? Well first of all the bullet is solid lead. The gun powder is only used to propel the bullet forward thus creating enough force for the bullet to enter the target. As it passes through the target it's momentum is slowed and material in front of it is gathered like a snow shovel in heavy snow. This material is then forced out the exit resembling an explosion, but really is just the effects of deceleration on the bullet. If the bullet had continous propulsion, it may exit and leave the same hole as it enterted with. Remember though, we are talking about a solid piece of lead traveling well over 500 mph.

The plane in question is not a solid piece of lead, but a hollow piece of aluminum. A straw basically. As it enters the target at 500 mph it is initially crushed back on itself becoming smaller in size as it penetrates the surface. It is also ripped apart due to it's own lack of resistance to change. It is flimsy, so it more than likely shredded on entry. This would be why the impact hole is larger than the exit. There is not enough of the plane in a solid enough form to force material through the building enough to cause a large exit.

Now this explains the holes, but what about the fire and explosions (plural). Well, most likely the heat from the impact and subsequent sparks thrown from the aluminum ignited the fuel which in turn exploded. Vaporous gas doesn't ignite just once and then a blaze. It may ignite several times before the initial explosion becomes a full on blaze. Now in order to keep the flame a blaze as in the World Trade center, you must add fuel to the fire. In the pentagons case the fuel might be books, or any other combustible materials in those offices. The plane itself is not good fuel for the fire. Which might explain why there was not a whole lot of smoke and fire from the crash either.

The angle of the planes decent from the sky is a mystery to me. It is possible to make a sudden decent and crash into the building 2 feet from the ground without causing devastation to the grass outside. But the freeway thing has me a little puzzled. Unless the plane was only traveling 300 mph or so rather than 500 mph as reported. Jeremy will have to do the math on that one, I'm not quite that dedicated to this problem.

Anyway, ramble ramble ramble, science has the answer to this puzzle.

I'm no scientist, (I'm on the verge of a D in 10th grade biology! :( ) so I'll avoid all of the e-mc2 stuff. On the other hand I guess I'll weigh my 2 cents in here politically being it's all I really know.

So, why would the Bush administration plan an attack against it's own country? As you pointed out, it ultimately led to the war in Iraq and thus oil, but the oil we're going to be getting from Iraq is really paled in comparision to the oil we'll be getting out of Afghanistan.

Let me explain. Underneath and around the Caspian sea area lies about 200 billion barrells of oil. This is second only to the entire middle east which holds 700 billion barrels. That is 16% of the worlds known oil reserves all in an area about the size of California. Of course the Caspian sea is land locked, so a oil pipeline would have to be created and run through Asia to get to a body of water for easy transportation.

Now kiddies, take a look at this here map https://www.pcc.gov/images/full%20world%20map.jpg

Find the Caspian sea? Good. The plan devised by UNOCAL (An American oil company) in 1997 was to run from the Caspian, through Turkmenistan, into Afghanistan and finally out to the port of Karachi. This would have been all well and good, but the Taliban refused UNOCAL's attempts, and thus denied the US access to one of the largest, most untapped oil reserves on the face of the earth.

This all changed on 9/11, when presumably terrorists trained in Afghanistan (Though ironically most being from the USA's current biggest oil trading partner, Saudi Arabia) attacked the US. This gave us and excuse to invade Afghanistan, and set up a puppet government to finish their pipeline which as of today is in the process of being built.

Now... I'm not saying that Bush and his cronies did devise the attacks or whatever, I don't believe they did. All I'm saying is that it would've been profitable for Bush's friends in the oil business to have 9/11 occur.

Jeremy brings up the point of the economy being hurt after 9/11, so why would Bush have wanted it? Well, besides the oil business (Which fyi is booming right now) another sector of our economy that is thriving is the defense industry. Lets keep in mind the two indsutries that the Bush family has their bigges ties too.

And one last thing before I end this rant, we need to keep in mind that sight of the evidence that it was very possible and plausible that FDR knew about Pearl Harbor before it happened, and used it as a means to get the US into WW2. Let us also remember Operation Northwoods when the Joint Chiefs of Staff planned terrorist attacks against America to try and lead us into a war against Cuba and their Communistic allies. It is 100% proven that the JCS had the plans written up and ready to be put into action. A good site to check out about it can be found here http://www.larouchepub.com/other/2001/2 ... thwds.html

Anyways, I hope people didn't find this as long and boring as I found the science posts

What does bush care about the american people anyway?
Saying that 9/11 was not staged on the basis that it hurt the american economy is faulty.
He sends the poor of to fight in a war thats all about money, destroys the economy by funneling all resources into already bloated and rich companies, while ignoring the middle class business owners and the real citizen of the country. Bush doesn't want America to be rich, he wants him and his friends to be rich. Mostly because you can only change so much with the presidency. With money you can do anything

PS. I hope Bush gets a wake-up call when HIS job gets outsourced to China or Mexico!

Look. here's my disclaimer: I can't figure out any physics because I had that last year.. So I don't know crap but if any of you have seen crashing planes footbages, the planes tend to crash at a certain angle to the ground. This causes a straight plane: ---- to curve at impact -----/. I really don't know... it made sense in my head... Maybe Jeremy, the part time rocket scientist part time footbag legend can expound on this?

Keep in mind, someone is downing that plane on purpose, so the physics of a normal(oxy-moron) plane crash do not apply here.

For all we know, there was a struggle in the cockpit a split second before impact and someone pulled the stick up/down/left/right or whatever to have caused the impact to occur at whatever angle.

Remember kids, this is not a plane, it is a hijacked WMD at this point.
