Derrick footblogden

Post by Ogden 09/04 »

Hey shredders, my name is Derrick, im 16 and I have been playing footbag since the 12th of september.

I walking downtown and from afar I saw a guy dancing in a parking lot, so me and my friend were curious to know what he was doing. The closer we got, the more we noticed something moving besides his body. When I saw him close up, he introduced himself, and did 5 consecutive infinities, and totally blew my mind. From then on I was hooked, even ask the guy that was shredding, Tom Mosher.

A week later he lent me a pair of mesh lavers, and a footbag!. I was pumped. I totally stuck to it, and the next week, i ordered some lavers, and just started shredding everyday since.

As of now i have hit both sides clipper, mirage, illusion, pdx mirage, stepping set, butterfly, infinity, leg over, pixie(strong one), and osis (strong one).

YES!

Go Derrick!

WATCH OUT FOR THIS KID!!!

I am serious, he is going to kick my ass at footbag soon.

He's not even at two months and he can already bust tiltless.

BOTH SIDES!

yesterday i found a good way to get you loostened up to a good long session. I just tried to beat my record of 34 toe stalls, and I hit 299, looked up and told tom that i was at 300, but i lost it at 300. Does anybody know what the toe stall record is?

I think, the toe stalls record is not like 300 or 400 toe stalls, but one day or two days of theme!! :D

GLASS was totally one of the best experiences of my life. I had so much fun, there was excitemnt on every corner!

As soon as i got in the building where everyone was shredding, the cops busted the place, so i had to wait till tommorow to play, since it was already 10:30 ish. I met as bunch of people, i knew a couple faces, like Matt Cross and Johnny Suderman. I was kind of shy as soon as i got there, cuz of all the people that i did not know. But everone was so friendly and chillin, people were just coming from everywhere introducing themselves, it was great, so once I got my pants of and started to stretch we had to leave, because of the cops. We had to leave because we were disturbing the people under us because of the stompin and music, but who studies at around 10:30 on a friday night?

I left with camille and andrew and other people to go to the Peel pub to hang out and drink. We ended up talking for a while some people were shredding in a garage at the hostel, i think. Well the more people that came the better. There was a game of pool that happened, and right beside were people with rolled up pants playing footbag, in a little corner. one of the employees saw us play, and i guess just decide to let us use their upstairs to play footbag, so i was pretty happy since i just got there and i could not shredd at the other place, so that just raised my spirit.

There must have been 11 or 12 people in 1 big circle, and people were just havin a good time shredding, and some people had a few to drink, which just made the nuight better. I think Suderman was the only that was shredding that did not drink. He was hitting some nice shit that night, people were very impressed. Well , ill come back and write more, but noe i have to got ot class. If you were not a GLASS, then you should ome next year!

well to be honest, i went to go meet tom at our shred place at 3, but unfortunately he did not show up, so after shredding for an ohurs i bought a gram, and walked over to Toms place ,to go see him, to go see what was up, but i guess i misunderstood him, so it was not his fault.

We watched clips until 6 30, because we wanted to wait until the store underneath was closed, so that they did not hear the hoppin around.
We said that we were gonna have a little drill session, but it did not end up that way. We just shredded for about 30 mins, until my dad picked me up to go to hockey.

Since i alreday had two shred session i was dead tired before ther hockey game, so i played defence. We lost 2-1, end of story(I scored) .

When i got back, my friend andrew that is trying to get a pair of lavers off of Matt Cross, called me, to hang out, so i went to his home, and we played footbag for about 40 mins, and then I went to bed, and fell asleep right away, and it was morning.

When i was in grade eight i was trying to make a spitball launcher, so i had one end off, and i used a GLASS thermometer(3/4 cm wide) to try to push the other end of the pen out, but unfortunately, the pressure that I put on it forced the glass to break and in went into my hand, and cut a few vains, so it feels numb at a certain spot.ANYWAY...there is still a piece of Glass that stayed in my wrists, and the doctor told me that it was going to come out it self !!

My point is that, i think it is starting to come out now!!
There is a lump on wrist, and its clearly reder than the rest of my skin, and it hurts when it gets touched, so i cant play sports anymore, exept for footbag, since i dont need to use hand grip.

I am going to the doctor on saturday, and I really hope its nothing serious

i hit tap down two days ago, its my first.

I had a pretty good session tonight with Jared, Tom, Vida and another Jared.I though i was hitting pretty good strings tonight. I did tap down>clipper ss butterfly> ripwalk, that felt good.

Vida started playing once Jared and Jared left, she started practicing he toe stalls. She always does them on the same foot over and over without planting, which i think is harder than to switch to the other toe. I was trying to tell her to toss it, plant, hop with both feet, and catch with your other foot, when your body is on its way down.Once you get a flow you can go forever.

So far, my footbag is goin well, on the 12th of march ill have played for half a year!

In the last month or so ive improved my game, and hit some pretty cool tricks.....ive hit alot of whirls now, they are getting quite consistent, ive hit about 5 ripsteins up to date. Im learning symp, and i can hit symp mirages bothsides, and i hit my first symp whirl today. Ive learned how to hit torque bothsides.

As far as double downs go, on a good day, I can hit paradons on bothsides on demand, and ive hit a barfly on each side. my ducking game in catching up to my diving.

My steppin is coming along, its not that good yet, and im really working on "stepping ss". Me and Tom shreded today, it was in a sweet place, right across the street from Tom's loft! Its in a office building where there are 5 flors of just offices, and Peter Milliken (Speaker of the House of Commons and MP for Kingston and the Islands to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives). 's office is right beside and down about 6 steps to where we were shredding.

During the shred i hit a few long strings, 1 including a combo of fairy noplant clipper>whirl>osis, and I hit my first symp whirl, as i mentioned earlier, and I also hit my first paradox whirl.

Me and Tom were each taking turns doing a string, and the first time you drop it you have to try to hit Witchdoctor, 1 try on each side, we played for maybe 10 mins, but we couldnt get, but while Tom was stretching I hit it right in front of him, its felt so go to hit that trick, but in sure Toms gonna string them way before me. Tom was doing such good shuffle , it was crazy, props Tom.
