I think this is just crazy enough to work, and I think many people here would welcome it:

I'd love for this place to become part of Canada. Although I'm not too crazy about the name "Jesusland", but hey it's not my country. To hell with them.

it's suprising in a way, because it requires a large percentage of the population to forsake their best interests.

We had the idea of having the west coast join canada . . . since they won't take us as refugees . . . I'm pretty sure they would like the economy, ports, and warm weather we could add to their nation.

i dont think that could ever work because thier would have to be two differ goverments and each one has differ views on how to run things. it would create chaos.

Only the north and the west coast states voted for kerry. With those votes, he was able to stay within 15 or so electoral votes of President Bush. So by bush having about 35 or so states, he barely eeked out his lead. This was due to his being a "born again" christian. He was a coke head (I think at least... I don't remember), he was a drunk. He was little more than trash.

Either that or Bush had all the war hawks at his sides...

Yeah this is an interesting one that I looked into a while ago, although I forget the specific numbers, but basically if asked if he has taken illegal drugs in the last 5 years he says no, 10 years he says no, 15 years no, but if you ask 40 years? Then it's no comment.

Personally I don't care what drugs leaders have taken in their past. I would just be willing to vote for somebody if they were a fomer crack addict or if they had never even taken an asprin in the life. I don't vote on peoples personal history.

George Bush was a former draft dodger and has taken drugs in the past. So what? It would have been much better to ignore those things and spend that time attacking his woeful policies. If the draft came to Australia I wouldn't go to war either and I respect people who don't fight more than I respect those that do. I have taken illegal drugs and I'm not ashamed of it. I don't think it has changed my ability (or lack there of) to lead a sporting team or a nation.

It matters because he's a hypocrite. At least I have some respect for anti-drug politicians who have never got involved in drugs, they have principles (even if I do think they are fundamentally wrong-headed). However if you are going to do drugs and then pursue strongly anti-drug laws and incarcerate people for long periods of time for things that you have done in the past, then I have no respect. Personal credibility means quite a lot, I mean look at how much shit Kerry got for some supposedly being a 'flip-flopper'.

Same goes for dodging the draft, even more so. If you have personally served in a war, personally seen what happens when your friends get shot and bombed, and what happens to yourself when you have to kill people, then I think you're able to make a better judgement about whether or not others should have to do that. I would sure as hell sleep better knowing that some leaders had some personal connection (the epitome of this being actual service) to a war, so they won't be so headstrong about going to war because at least they have some perspective about what their actions are actually doing to the people they serve (or rule depending on your perspective).
