There is a tiny bit of loss from mine - so if you have a choice - the avi is slightly better quality.

One note ....

The length of this first competition isn't going to be set, rather, I will watch the votes closely and when they are no longer coming in at a decent rate, I will close it. This will be the basis for all future competition lengths which will have a set time frame for the polls. I will give at least 10 HOURS notice before I am going to close the poll, just so people don't get caught off guard. I'm expecting the polls to be open at least 5-6 days.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know.

This is a learning process and as time goes on we will all learn how to best run these competitions.

As always, if there are any concerns or questions, feel free to ask them.

"Open" division :)

I'm at school and I'm not able to watch these right now, but the combos all look huge. Good job everyone.

Why are there so many more votes for the open division than there are for the intermediate division?

Please make sure you vote for BOTH comps guys! The intermediate combos may not be as huge as the stuff the open guys are busting, but there's still some cool combos.

Go vote!

Hey Adam, you can try using quicktime to open the avi videos. I used to do that all the time. All these videos are in wmv format though except for one intermediate one, so you shouldn't have much of a problem.

I deleted 3 posts out of this thread, because (for those of you not paying attention) posting who you voted for is against the rules until voting is over. It is the fair way to ensure that your opinions don't sway the votes of others.

Great job everyone! You all did great!

I really liked how Jeremy (I always have to copy and paste your name. For some reason I never can spell the name Jeremy right. It's like a sickness.) painted or whatever he did to the bag to make it blue. It really helped in seeing if all the dexs were clean and such.

Edited because I mis spelled Jeremy.
I think I going to take over Canada. You should help.

ok, but wouldn`t it be better to somehow disable people to view the results untill the very end and then show them to the comunity - that would be just fair and more fun! (you inevitably get to see the results, if you`re not logged in - happened to me - it could have been so much more interesting the other way...)

anyway, i love the whole idea!

tears of joy.

I can`t begin to tell you how excited I was to open this subforum today and see that this incredible idea had become a reality. Thank you Cole, thank you Brad. When I saw the initial post and that 2 vids were avi, I cringed, but when I saw that Jeremy kindly re-encoded them, I flipped out with joy! :D Thank you so much!

Watching the videos was like unwrapping presents on Christmas. What can I say, you are all winners. I`m so happy to see the level in Open is so good, I`m realyl looking forward to competing against y`all when/if I can get a video shot. Too good!

I`m gonna make a point to re-watch all the videos at least twice more before voting, though I think I already know which one I will vote for.

Brad, I don`t know if my next comment should be edited out or not, if you think so, feel free. But yeah: I also think its great that almost all the combos were free of `the.` I only saw one move which looked thin, and another move which was probably `the.` But considering how many moves were submitted, thats pretty great.

Again, thank you to everybody. I definitely needed some cheering up lately, so this was really a great pick-me-up.

Bravo gentlemen. :)

Your comment is fine ... It won't be edited.

As for the re-encoding .. If the videos are sent to me in adequate time, this may be something I do everytime. Or if Jeremy is kind enough to do it for all the avis every competition, I wouldn't complain either :)

See, it's a catch 22, because some people can't watch WMVS, and some people can't watch AVIs. Some people can't make certain kinds of video files either .. There really is no easy way to solve this problem that I can see at the moment ... But ... I'm still thinking :)

I'm happy to do it - it's just a matter of importing the videos into windows movie maker and then saving them again at an appropriate size.

I think it would make sense if somebody with a faster internet connection than my dial up did it though - just because it takes me about 30 seconds to convert the file and 30 minutes to upload it.

Perhaps if someone nominated themselves for each division? I've already done open - so I'm happy to keep doing it. If nobody nominates I'll do the remaining vids tomorrow (aus time)!
