Ankle aches >_<!
Hey guys, my ankles have been hurtin' me lately. It's not from doing clippers or anythin', it's from just playin'. Does anybody know how to strengthen your ankles? As everyone knows, Lavers don't give much support, so when I'm slammin' me legs, my ankles take a real beatin'. Can anybody help me out?

I think google would be a good place to work on this one, although this thread reminds me of a weird (but actually good exercise).
It works your ankles and knees basically you just is balancing on one foot, bend your knee a little and close your eyes - also leave your arms by your side, unless you have really bad balance. All your counterbalancing muscles get a work our trying to stabilize yourself. Sounds (and probably looks) dumb I know

I actually have a somewhat similar problem, somewhat.
When I do blenders I tend to drive my foot into the ground a bunch, if I do the trick right, I slam the outside of my ankle into the ground, if I do it wrong, which at this point is majority I drive it toe first causing pain in my akileis (sp?) tendon. It feels like when kyou bang your tendon against something, that "funny bone" feeling mixed with a little pinch.
Now, I know I am doing the move wrong if I have these problems but to do them right would require more "trial and error", its the learning process. My main question I guess is "am I not at as much risk as I think, like, am I just being my paranoid anxiety disorder driven self or could this lead to a bad injury".
I know its worse case scanario but I don't feel like a rupture.
Any players out there with similar stories or problems?

Another thought crossed my mind, when you guys do strings do you sorta "cushion" your feet when you land a trick. Maybe if I try to cushion my feet (like bend my knee to absorb the shock) maybe my ankle's won't keep gettin' slammed on. I dunno...food for thought

Yeah, switchin' insoles helps ALOT.
Or even when you progress more, grab a pair of NBCT520's, Climacools, G-Units, etc.
Good news on my end guys
- My ankle aches have finally gone away (now they're still a little sore after each session) but no more feeling like a crippled. I think it helps if you bend your knee to cushion the shock of when you're feet land, this helped me ALOT...also switchin' insoles did lots of good also.
