I'll try to keep you interested and mentioned the minor shred that happened. First I impressed a lot of people - including myself at touch today by shredding across a field and back (80m all up) - admitadly I was going tiltless - but it was cool anyway! - I must have done over 100 contacts. I didn't hit any hard moves and only 3 different 4s (repeated) which were barfly, pdx whirl and pixie butterfly - they were all only on my strong side. Oh I might have hit paradon as well. - I find all those moves low energy - which is good!
Then I hit the second biggest combo in footbag history...
Mouth catch>mouth catch (actually I hit this after all the games were over)
Onto the Touch football.
First I refed a high school game. The highlight of this was when a kid dived to score and I thought he was touched. Neither of the two players who could have touched him said anything and touch football is a sport based around player honesty - so I asked them. One shook his head and the other said "I don't know" - anyway at least he's honest - although I find it hard to understand how you can't know if you touched somebody when you're trying to or not.
Then I refed a club game. This was interesting because a close friend of mine was playing for one side and the other side was all high school kids in a "development" side. The side my friend plays in is a very working class team and I really like them - they get very little support from good coaches etc and still play and have improved a lot. Touch football is a very yuppie sport and a lot of people look down on the working class teams.
Anyway in the second half a guy on the working class team yelled at me calling me a "faggot" - so I sent him off - which probably doesn't surprise anybody on this forum. Then aparantly I missed a blatent forward pass and the whole team blew up. I stayed out of it and let the other ref deal with it
. Apparantly the working class team thinks that all the refs are out to get them because they haven't paid their fees yet. I haven't payed mine yet either! - Anyway one of their players got sent off (to the sin bin for 5 minutes) and then the siren went. In touch football you play to the next touch, score or penalty after the siren goes. The working class team gave away a really soft penalty after the siren (for a touch pass - which is interesting because technically the game is over once he's touched so it shouldn't matter if he passes it or not - but it wasn't my call) and the guy who was sent to the bin blew up again. He then got sent off for the rest of the game - which was interesting because the game was already over (apart from the after the siren penalty) - which means he misses two weeks. Personally I have a lot of sympathy for them - they don't really understand the rules and they're a bit paranoid that the refs are out to get them. I actually thought that we favoured them because I was ruthless on the development team and didn't let them get away with any mistake (because many of them are going to play at the under 16 nations later in the year and from my experience you get hammered by the refs for anything)
Then we played out game - at first we only had 4 players (you are meant to have 6) but we eventually got two more. I remembered why I stopped playing touch because I was very tense and angry. Part of that was frustration because my team doesn't really know how to play as well as I do (since I've been playing a lot longer and at higher levels) so I'm sure things will improve. A standard quote of me from the game would be yelling"Push across. Push across. Go across. Argh for fuck sake" (when the attacker runs through the hole that I'm trying to make a defender fill - resulting in me sprinting 30 meters to chase him down. I scored one try and set up 2 - we won 4 - 2. The two trys I set up were pretty soft - basically when you're touched you have to put the ball on the ground and it's picked up by another player. The player that picks up the ball can't score or get touched or it is a change of possession. Both scores I set up I picked the ball up and ran the length of the field and then turned around at passed it to someone. I could only do this because the team we were playing was oldish and slow - I'd never be able to do it against a good team and good teams never score like that. Anyway I was best afield for the second time (or I'd like to say - for every game I've played this season
) but it's not much of an achievement when your team is either playing injured or 4 years younger than you and the opposition is all over 50.Next week the team we play is even worse
I hope somebody got to the end of this. I'd really like to post a prize for reading all that.

- 80% of people injured or killed by landmines are civillians harmed after the conflict is over. Much of Iraq is still incredibly dangerous because of land mines from the Gulf War and unexploded cluster bombs. Children are often the victims of the cluster bombs because they are brightly painted so that people can see them. The children pick them and shake them - losing arms, faces and lives.
