Okay, so my crappy atempt at german. Keep in mind I'm learning it at school and actually just got back from class.

Mein deutsch ist nicht sehr gut.
Ich habe neffe heiBt Gabe. Er ist 11 tag alt. Er ist nicht groB. Er ist Schon.

Ich heiBt Melissa. Ich 15 Jahr alt. Ich habe keine Auto. Ich Hore gern Muisk. Ich habe Hausegaben.

Thats all for now! Tell me if anything very very worng!

i dont know if i should try to correct things seeing as i probably made mistakes too, and im not a native speaker, but i think your sentence about your nephew should be, 'Ich habe einen Neffe, er heiβt Gabe.' Or something similar. the nephew needs an article (einen because haben is a transitive verb).

the e is added to Jahr because you are talking in plural (ie. 15 years) The 'ich' form of the verb heiβen is heiβe.
Verbs shouldnt have capital letters either (see--> hören)

I really hope this advice is correct, someone else please correct ME if im wrong hahah.

edit: Ian, well done. German grammar must be really difficult for foreigners.

Hey Bjoern, when you write 'hoere' as you did above, is that just as a substitute for the umlaut that would normally go above the 'o'? or is it another way of writing in German that i dont know about?

Thanks, it is pretty hard to learn this stuff! I understand alot of the rules and things, but remembering it when speaking is just so so hard! I can read it alot better than i can speak it i think. Vocabulary is also a real killer for me.

Hey if i got that string of moves right, someone else can have a go, i dont think im quite good enough to make one up just yet!

Ian, yeah, oe in german is basically "ö" (the umlaut-o). So if your keyboard can't reproduce the umlaut, go for oe.

Nice idea this thread ---- the final exam is to listen to me and try to understand what I will tell you ( My accent maybe sounds a little bit strange to foreigners ( to natives too))

Ill probably try to talk to some people on ICQ/MSN some time soon but i need to practice a few weeks to be of any use to anyone. I should be coming to Europe next year for a few months so i need to brush up heaps before getting to Germany. I doubt ill be able to hold very good conversations; i hope i can make my meaning though.

Endlich hast ein grosses Mysterium für mich gelöst !!
Seit dem ich angefangen habe, hier auf modified zu posten,
hab mich immer gefragt, warum ein Finne eine ( sehr lustige)
signatur in deutscher Sprache hat .

Unser Team kommt zu den Worlds nach finnland, dann können
wir uns austauschen, soviel wir wollen.
Ich selber bin sehr an der finnischen Sprache interessiert, da sie
sehr schön klingt und so ziemlich einzigartig ist.
Wusstest du, dass tolkien unter anderem Finnisch als
inspiration für seine elfensprachen benutzt hat ?

Um 11 Uhr lerne ich Deutsch. Um 13 Uhr esse ich. Um 14 Uhr spiele ich Footbag! Um 16 Uhr ruhe ich aus. Um 18 Uhr esse ich Abendessen. Um 18.30 totschlagen ich Fliegen. Um 19 Uhr esse ich Nachtisch.
