QuickTime 'nag screen' removal

Hey, will a few of you please try this to get rid of QuickTime's annoying nag screen. I have QuickTime Pro, so I can't test it myself. You may want to uninstall QT, then reboot, before trying the following.

To get rid of the nag screen asking you to 'upgrade to quicktime pro':

Install the application, then set the date (on your computer) forward 10 or so years. Then run the application, and hit ' LATER ' on the nag screen. Now close the player, and the date will be stored in the QuickTime.QTP file located under Documents And Settings/All Users/Application Data/Quicktime. Change your date back to normal and that screen is history

seems to have worked for me ver 6.5 didnt uninstall reinstall or anything

i just hit "yes, upgrade to pro now!" and then when it started up the internet with the qt page i just hit closed the window, and tada, no more nag screen.

Hacksterbator, I doubt that will work for long. After restarting your computer, it may reset. I think I tried that before.

It seems to be working for me.

What I want to know is why Quicktime won't play any of the .avi's on my computer.

Quicktime doesn't have the associated codecs that supports .avi's. For the best .avi experience, go with DivX.
