Ontario Shredders - GLASS!

Post by Posi-Cole »

This is my plea to the shredders of Ontario.

I'm travelling to Ottawa to visit friends at Carleton during my schools study week/reading week which is February 21-25th. I don't know for sure when I will be taking the trip, but it will be sometime between Friday the 18th and Sunday the 27th.

I would be totally willing to fly to Toronto or wherever GLASS is going to be so I can go to GLASS and then go back with Seath or whatever to Ottawa to visit my friends at Carleton. I would absolutely love for GLASS's date to be set sometime in that time interval so I could plan my trip around it :)

Obviously I don't hold a lot of sway, but I just thought I'd throw that out there ... I would be so stoked if I could come .. That would awesome if it fell between those times.

Another thing to consider is that perhaps this is the study/reading/spring break week for all Canadian universities?? If so, perhaps it will be easier for people to come to the tourny this week.

Anyway, that's my piece... I'm crossing my fingers :)

Aah it's just CSS6 man i dunno alot of the ontarians want to go to it so it may conflict with our tournament having it that close to CSS6.. I dunno, I'm still waiting to hear when they have a solid date.

the Hotsteppers Saskatoon jam is going to be in the canadian reading week, either first or second weekend, and the hackrifice crew is hitting that up for sure. i would want to make it out to GLASS as well, but if it's a choice between the 2 i'm gonna be hot steppin'.

We would want to maximize the number of people that could go.

I wouldn't want to have to make people choose between our event and something else so lets be sure to pick a weekend that has nothing else around it.

What a first post.. haha.

At any rate.. When do you guys think you'll have a concrete date set?

Hopefully soon-ish so I can start looking at plane tickets if it is in fact going to be in a time frame that I can attend.

I say declare your dates first and let Colorado work around you. If you call dibs on a particular weekend, it'll be their bad for delaying their decision, and it'll be their responsibility to book the CSS6 for a date that doesn't conflict with your plans.

Is that not kinda a dickhead thing to do? I don't really know what is kosher in a situation like this.

I assume that they are going to have a fairly large draw. I think we all just figured it made the most sense to let them make their choice and have us work around them. There are a few situations that I really want to avoid. I think that careful selection of the date will make both events more accessible to the masses. I want to avoid choosing a date that we want that would place us too close to CSS forcing people to choose, because in that event I think most would choose CSS.

So I think Jon is on the right track here.

Cole, maybe we should make this a poll for people to choose which weekend they could make it to. people could vote more than once if they can go to more than one weekend.

The weekends of:
Feb. 4 - 6
Feb. 11 - 13
Feb. 18 - 20
Feb. 25 - 27

What do people think?

Well it's already been stated that CSS is going to be the last weekend in February, or the first weekend in March.

So that takes Feb 25-27 out of the running, which is one of the weekends I possibly could have gone.

My vote would be for the 18th - 20th :)

I think that Feb. 11 - 13 gives people more space between events if some people wish to hit both.

Not for me though :(

Oh well, if I end up not being able to make it, at least I'll be able to shred with Seath and CCFC in Ottawa, which I can't wait for. Maybe you can make a trip up too Tom? That would be intense .. I really want to play with both of you.

Yeah, as I posted on the footbag ontario forum, I am not down with the 11-13.

I discussed this with the other F.A.T. members and we've decided that the first weekend of February is best. Sorry, Cole. It seems like it is really the only time that Andrew is able to get us a venue for, and it doesn't conflict with any other events. If we put GLASS on any other weekend in February there is a good chance that another event will happen at the same time. This way, the Saskatoon thing will be 1 or 2 weeks after GLASS, and CSS6 will be 3 or 4 weeks after.

So, February 4th, 5th, and 6th just makes the most sense. Cool?
