a link to the .org profiles should be mandatory! .org got most of us into the sport, and i think we should honour that. but the profiles aren't entirely complete, or nearly as fun as they could be. and linking to files already in our .org accounts is a good idea as well!

Neither did I. I think the bashing of his operating system of choice may have been a bit much (even though I agree fully with Allan and Andrew), but the rest of the comments were constructive.
I personally see something counter-productive in the amount of diverging projects that exist. Why do we need so many large footbag websites? Wouldn't footbag.org be enough if people rallied behind it? Obviously there are issues, and when a website that is supposed to be our main site has such problems, they need to be addressed. Obviously this won't occur with people like Ellis and Adam trying to get their own projects running. Nothing against either of them, they're both providing a tremendous service, I just question whether or not the service is being applied in the best of places.

well in response to sam's post, i don't see why more sites are a problem? it gives people more chances to find out about footbag, right? how can that honnsetly be bad? also, i don't see a problem with wanting to unify a group or country of shredders, let .org be the international link, and at the same time have other websites as national reference points! i think it's a good thing. props to .org, they are doing alot of great work, but why not have more info?

It's not that I think that too many web sites are bad, per se... It's just that it seems like our resources get spread out too thinly over various projects. What if the people who maintain modified.ca and footbag.org decided to scrap both of their forums and let footbag.org host modified? You would have one centralized forum with a greater user base, allowing people to be more connected. What if they decided to have Eli provide the informational content of the site? It would be more up to date. While these are all hypotheticals, it just seems to me that this is the way we should be going instead of creating yet another site that I believe will invariably crash and burn, or at least certain aspects of it will not do well (the forum, most likely).
My question is... Why are people trying to create a Footbag Canada web site when we should be trying to create a WORLD Footbag web site?? Why aren't we trying to get everyone involved to get something massive going on? There's so much talent, but as I said, it seems like it's spread too thinly to actually get very much accomplished.

Ok, I have made my points I think.
Well here are some more thoughts I have been having:
- I am torn about the forum idea, I do quite enjoy modified and I think it is quite healthy on it's own. there are already many regional forums, we have one for ontario alone that all your modifiers don't even know about! What I think is important is that any implementation of a Canadian forum should be.. um.. minimal and mostly *solely* Canada related as to not draw *too* much from modified
- I like the map idea alot. two or three dot colours is all you need - city with shredders, club, BAP (maybe)
- profiles would be superb. I can see us all having little pictures and a full proper bio and not just "I like footbag". It would be nice to see the profile going beyond that to cover more about YOU which is precisely what a good profile should do! It can have a direct link to your footbag.org profile, there is no need to try to detract anything from .org, it is an incredible source of knowledge for all!
and for the record, I have no idea what L337 means. You fucking dorks!
At least use lame footbag acronyms!

You likely do, and that is very close to the whole idea of footbag canada. so we as a country can have out own little profile. and as it has been said the intention is not to make another footbag.org, or a modified.ca, but to have a neighboring site that neither takes away from them, or tries to out do them.

I agree with moshers forum idea too. The Canadian forum would contain Canadian related topics, or simply be the central provincial area. A forum thread for each area, and then sub-threads for events, shred scene, discussion and more.
We could link to profiles on footbag.org, but ours would contain the same information and more... so it is kinda useless.
I wish we could all get together and make one big huge website for the world, but I have neither the time, energy and resources to make that happen. If Eli, Steve and a few others came to me and asked to join a team to make the biggest and best footbag site out there now, I would in a heartbeat.

I like the idea of better profiles. Like Tom said, I think it would be so sweet to read detailed information about friends that I have on the forum. Makes it easier to get to know people, gives soemthing for two people to build a conversation around and get to know eachother, which results in making more friends and overall better vibe at tournies and such.

Hey, I completely, 100% agree with this. A Footbag Worldwide where the best of the best is in charge of the different sections. The problem is I have tried to suggest this sort of thing before and I've been rejected and told my ideas were pointless and a waste of time. I respect footbag.org for what it has done for so many people, but it just isn't a welcoming place for me to visit. I am deeply upset and depressed to let all of you Ontarians know that Footbag Ontario will be going offline very shortly. ShredON has had a two or three month stint in the online footbag community. We had 31 members and over 1240 articles. The reason this is going down? The host that I am with is moving its servers around and I can't keep the site up. I am sorry.

Canadian Freestyle is under heavy development, and it should be online in a matter of a few weeks! I have been working my ass off trying to get this thing going and it has finally hit a point where it is workable.
Here is what I need:
- Ideas for forum topics
- One person for:
+ Moderating each provinces board
+ Moderating each other subforum
- People from Canada to participate in online brainstorming sessions
- People who have resources for advertisement and promotion
I have stated before, I can't do this by myself and I need alot of help bringing this together. People, PM me if you can devote a few hours a week to this!
