Lower-Leg stretching

Post by Seath »

I used to have shin splints. Luckily I don't have that problem any more. I believe I just strengthened my legs while playing. The only real problem I have now is after a real good drill session I almost always have a soreness in my right shin (not splints). It usually sticks around, in fact I seem to always be able to feel it to some extreme because it doesn't seem to go away between shred sessions, but I shred pretty much every day.

I think it's a tendon that's sore from lack of stretching, but I don't really know many lower-leg stretches. I have one that my ex-girlfriend taught me, she used it for warming up before dancing, basically you lie on your back straighten your legs at point them in the air, then scrunch your toes and point them inward then slowly move them out till they are pointing away from each other, then stretch your toes out and go back to the toes pointing together position, after doing this for a wile switch to pointing your scrunched toes straight out, and pull back, then stretch the toes out and point back out.

On second thought I don't know if this is a stretch or an exercising technique, regardless, what kinda stretches/exercises do you guys use for your lower legs, i.e. ankles up to knees.

Yeah the soles of my feet, my ankles, and sometimes my shines use to hurt after I got done with a session. The reason to this is because I wasn't "compressin'" enough (like absorb the shock of landing.) This could be a poteintal problem if your shins are sore. I fixed this problem by bending my knee more when I land and by also getting better insoles for my lavers.

If you need more support you can even switch over to a sturdier shoe like Nastase, G-Units, Climacools, NB CT520's (I wanna get a pair of these  ), etc.

It's not my shins though, its a tendon, that really big one i think, the one that runs from your toe all the way up your leg and keeps going some direction, it hurts around the shin area and sometimes in the hip area.
