works of Paco de Lucia, Al di Meola and John McLaughlin. Pure bliss.

Great that someone else has heard of David Russell! I'm so excited about his concert tomorrow evening--he has been one of my heroes since high school!

This was touched on in some other posts, but I really believe that it is getting more and more difficult to distinguish styles from each other. Even the terms classical and jazz and getting more and more vague. I had a teacher of composition tell me once that 'classical' composition is simply jazz in slow motion. Modern classical and jazz music--for example twelve-tone music and free jazz--have many points in common.

Other guitarists I enjoy are Wes Montgomery, Tuck Andress, and Michael Hedges.

tuck andress is playing here in rochester in 3 weeks! I just found out about him the other day, he's NASTY!! I find his stuff with patti to be a little pop-ish, so I hope he really cuts loose and does a lot of awesome guitar stuff when they play.

the club he's playing in is super small, mostly local bands play there. I'm gonna be able to stand 5 feet from him. It's gonna be rad.

Yes, I love Mark Knophler. Eddie Van Halen is the best living rock guitarist at the moment IMHO. This could be broken down into sub-genre's like Blues, Jazz, Prog Rock, Heavy Metal, Classical, etc...
