I love the fealing of giving my friends info to spammers and "direct marketers" who have websites where the banner ads use active X components to implant "additional bonus content" onto my friends computers.

And you will continue to get ipods if you want to send direct marketers your friends contact information so you can get an ipod. Marketers will pay the person giving away the ipods for the contact information of his applicants. Alot of those TV infomercials for money making use the same idea.

There are alot of ways to make loads of money by ripping a small amount off a large quantity of people. Like a botch soda machine.

i dunno, even if it is all as it should be (as in, the ipod arrives, in new condition, you dont get bombarded with spam, and no one steals your identity), i think i will still try to be happy with the decision i made to not go for this.
there is an old Chinese parable about a small boy who swims deep into a lake and finds an incredibly rare and priceless dragon pearl. he swims back to the surface and gives it to his father, who immediately smashes it on the ground, destroying it completely. his son looks shocked and pained, but his father goes onto explain that he knows that in order to get the pearl, the son must have had to swim deep into a lake, stealing the pearl from under the noses of sleeping underwater dragons. therefore, he wanted to teach his son to never take a risk like that again.
all that is to say, sometimes when there is possible risk involved, and even when evetual sucess is acheived, the risks taken may not have been worth the gains. im not saying that this is necessarily one of those times (i dont know anything about the level of risk involved), or that that philosophy isnt a pussy way of going through life, but there it is.

EDIT---before anyone else says it, i might as well admit that it might just be that im jealous and pissed at myself for no going for it, especially since i really want an ipod :

Ha. There really isn't a risk. When it comes down to you completing the offers by the advertisers, it's the ad company who you give your credit card number to, not the iPod website. The only thing personal the iPod website knows about you is the shipping information you give them.

Um... correct me if I'm wrong tom but arn't pyramid's like that a scam, I mean we don't have that manny footbaggers, it wouldn't be long before the pyramid collapsed. If it doesn't cost any money though and doesn't require a credit card I would be completly willing to help one of you with this though...

And this is supposed to make me feel better how exactly???

As for Cameron's free iPod... would I be correct in assuming you got it as a birthday gift or something to that effect and that you didn't actually sign up for this whole thing?
