Deer Hunting

i'm sure henry and steve heard, eight hunters were shot at in northern wisconsin. 5 of them killed. The man who did it is a mung (a person from loass sp?) The man was caught on private property sitting in one of their tree stands. They told him to get out or the authorities would be notified. The man left. He came back some time later and was dressed in complete camoflague and brutally murdered five people including a father and son, and a female. He killed them using a high powered automatic rifle. The man was caught in the woods a couple hours later because he was running to hide and got lost and local hunters recognized him from the police description released. The man is going to make his first court appearance tomorrow morning.

The man was Hmong, from Minneapolis. The Hmong (used to) live in Laos (some still do). Political persecution forces most of them to move to the states. They're the ones that helped us in vietnam, and even today people in Laos and Vietnam persecute them.

It doesn't matter if the guy was Hmong, Australian, or Martian, he was a sick fuck for killing 6 people and deserves to be locked away for the rest of his life.

I guess no one will really know what happened, but if it's true he left, and came back in camo to kill them, he deserves what he gets. There is a small chance (IMO) he was pushed into a rage from things said by the group, but no matter what they said, he doesn't have a right to take 6 lives.

I hope this incident doesn't create a flare-up of anti-Hmong sentiment. I know a few Hmong and would hate to have anything happen. My dad's farming business revolves around Hmong customers buying his chickens, he even learned a bit of the language so he could advertise and speak with his customers.

BTW, My Dad raises a special kind of black chicken that the Hmong especially like.

i realize this is a tangent-starter, but i dont think the guy should be locked up for the rest of his life...im completely in favor of the death penalty. why should tax-paying citizens pay for him to live out the rest of his life?

Ok, so he killed 6, people. He's a 6 X Murderer. But do you (or anyone else) have the right to take a life (his life) when you're condeming the man for doing the same?

I only said that because in Wisconsin and Minnesota, there is no death penalty.

They should stick him in the filthiest, most violent state prison they can find. He'll wish he were dead after 20 years of that.

but how much would 20 years of food cost america? its like we are paying this guys room and board FOR killing 6 people. people who have commited no crime and are just poor are living in worse conditions than life-long jail-birds. and i do agree with the eye-for-an-eye concept...he kills people, he gets killed. if it was possible i would have him killed 6 times...

Well, you spend billions of dollars each year on war... Perhaps the US should try making a few more friends than enemys. (Just a thought).

ok, we are definitely not discussing the war/foreign relations in this topic...at least the death penalty/life in prison is SLIGHTLY related...

It costs only slightly more to keep him in jail for life than to kill him. You forget that people usually wait on death row for about 5-15 years, and even then it isn't like they just take them out back and shoot them. The execution costs a lot of money too.

In the U.S. I am pretty sure that it actually costs more to kill someone then to put them in prison for life. This is because there are endless apeals and such for death sentance... Also, each of the individual courts costs more I think, because it is taken more seriously... or so my law teacher says...

The cost of the death penalty is an interesting topic and a quick google reveals that it costs less to keep the average offender in jail for life than to execute him. This is offset if you only look at the cost of life imprisonment for those commiting death pealty crimes; in which case the death penalty is the cheaper option.
