Hello Fellow Shredders!

I'm very pleased to announce that Freedom Footbags is now
nearly poised to release a new "flyer".

I see this flyer as a potential HUGE leap in footbag
play everywhere. Currently, I’d say that the vast
majority of people that purchase footbags have
very little idea what is possible beyond something
like, say, a “Super Jester.” This flyer outlines many
of the fundamental *building blocks* that will
give new players a better understanding of the
potential of footbag.

Many of us have taken the time to show a newbie
a few basic moves. It can be very difficult to grasp many
of these concepts and remember them in a five minute
demo. Now, all you’ll have to do is hand over a flyer!

I’m planning to sell this flyer for $1.00 each
(or give them away with a purchase). The reasoning
for this is simple. If you give something to someone,
they’re a lot less likely to value it than if they’d
actually paid something for it. Once this flyer has
completed this review phase (which will be only
for a few days) and the final version is available,
I’m going to encourage everyone to make a few
copies for yourselves. Feel free to give them away,
or even charge $1.00 and keep it for the copying
costs.

There is one deal with this flyer that I’d like to make
clear up front. Coping it in the original condition
is fine. I just don’t want people changing it and
using it for their own devices.

The flyer is only one page, front and back, and attempts
to describe footbag freestyle in within this very limited
space.

The final flyer will be folded in 1/4's, and I will rotate
the basic kicks/delays section 180 deg, before printing.

I intend to make a few color copies, but for the most
part I will be distributing this in black & white, due to
the expense of color copies .

I sincerely welcome any constructive criticism anyone
may have - whether they be a newbie or a pro.

The front of the flyer is essentially done, with the exception
of tweaking the "clouds" and lines. I am still debating
on whether to keep these clouds and lines, or ditch them.
In a way, they help to clarify what text goes with what
picture. However, I'm not sure if they would clutter
up the image too much or not. If I do clouds and
lines on the front, I would also have to add them to the
back, which would require a bit of shrinking on the
already tiny text. Please vote on this and give me your
input! :)

At this point, I'm guessing I've spent some 80+ hours
on this project. It's unlikely that I will do any further
major changes (i.e. adding new moves or something),
but I'd still welcome any feedback. I wanted to have
some fresh eyes look at this before I sent it off to the
printer.

I've uploaded the files to the under the following directory:

http://www.freedomfootbags.com/images/genzu/

And you'll want to right click and "save link as" on the
following files:

(EDIT: You must view these .jpg in Illustrator, or Photoshop
due to the format they are saved in)

FFFFFF_back2.jpg
FFFFFF_front.jpg

If you cannot view the .jpg's I pre-apologize for the size
of the following .PDFs viewable in Adobe Acrobat Reader:
(Approx 30 meg each!)

http://www.freedomfootbags.com/images/g ... nt1111.pdf
http://www.freedomfootbags.com/images/g ... ck1111.pdf

Note, spelling errors have been corrected on the .PDF versions.

Also, once I have the final version done, I'm looking for
volunteers that want to help translate this into as many
languages as possible! Please let me know if you are
interested.

Thanks for looking!

Keep shredding :).

Peace.

They look great Daryl!!

When they're finished - will you be posting them publically so that people like myself can print some off to give to interested people - or will you want them to be Freedom Footbag exclusives? I'm not sure about selling them but your reasoning definitly makes sense. Personally I would give them out for free but I guess it could be a good way of fundraising for events or for needy footbag organistations (ie. IFPA)

Regarding the clouds. I think it would be best to get rid of them - but have little number keys or something along those lines - so that people can still see what the comments are refering to.

Awesome work anyway!! :D

I've already been talking to Daryl, and I corrected some spelling and stuff. The whole thing looks great though.

Just thought I'd say that so that no one else would mention spelling issues. ;)

I think that's a great idea. This is something that I want to
ENCOURAGE people to copy. If you can collect a dollar
from each person you give it to give to the IFPA - I say
go for it. If you want to keep the 1$ for yourself, that's
fine too :). The flyer helps me by brining people to
http://www.freedomfootbags.com . The whole idea of the $1.00
is just to make people value what they are receiving.

I'm just personally excited not to have to go explaining all
of this information over and over... It's all right there,
written down and illustrated.

The flyer is enough to take a complete beginner well
into intermediate styling. At that point, it will have served
it's purpose :).

THANKS! That's a great idea. There are already **95** pictures
on the back page alone... The less clutter I put on at this point,
the better.

I have one final point/clarification that I'd like get some other
opinions on, and that's the Job's for osis... It's currently:

(front) SPIN [BOD] > CLIP [XBD][DEL]

Now, on .org it says:

(front/back) SPIN [BOD] > CLIP [XBD][DEL]

It's my opinion that it's always a front spin, because your
body only turns one way when you do an osis, and
that's IN to the bag, making it a "front".

:)

Peace.

Hmmmmm...but the bag passes behind you. I'm not sure I understand.

(I actually circled the "Front" on the flyer when I sent it back to him with some corrections...I thought it was an error, but then I thought, "Wait a minute, this is Daryl.") :)

I always thought of an osis as backspinning? Where backspinning is rotating your back towards the bag... (i.e gyro clipper)

I think you can do an osis front spinning or back spinning. Since most people hit osis out of the opposite clipper (ie changing feet) - it's a back spin.

If you were hitting it all with the same foot clipper to clipper it would be a front spin.

I think the (front/back) at footbag.org refers to the fact that the spin can be in either direction and it's still an osis.

Can't wait to see the finished product! :D

It looks awesome! This is such a great idea, I can't wait to get a copy of the finalized version, I will definitely feed this to the masses. As far as the clouds, I don't think they would look as good as no clouds. If you are concerned about grouping the right words to the right pictures im sure just a straight lined box would look better.

I just wanted to bump this post up to the top - Please check out the new
layout options for the front... no downloading required this time - I figured out a better way to do it. You can see the details on my original edited post. I expect to have a more final version of the back posted later this evening :).

Keep shredding...

Random misplaced move:

Anyone ever try pixie ducking probe? It's super fun ;)

(probe is an inside stall caught blind behind the back
and pulled through... tough to set out of).

I vote ditch (the bottom one is way better) and the writing on the top version is hard to read where it overlaps the many Jim Penske's

I forgot to mention both versions are still very "draft-stage."

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning that way too ;).

Since I 'm a copycat I agree with Seath.

Major props on this! I will get some when they come up and post them around town. Like at UAA, hockey rinks, etc. All my haunts.
I think I going to take over Canada. You should help.

Check out my initial post on Page 1 for the link to an easy to view (no download) final???? version of the Front Cover.

I'm considering making the Flyer for sale in stores (where I sell the Mr. wholesale), and another version for the general public that says
(On the very top):

-- $1.00 - Suggested IFPA Donation --

Comments on the Front as a final welcome.

I will probably post the final of the back early tomorrow morning... It always takes longer than you think for these projects... ;)

Peace.

It looks really good!! :D

What size is it? Will it fit nicely on an A4 piece of paper?

Also have you checked out what it looks like in black and white? You might need to change the colours a bit so everything is still visable - especially the bag in the pictures.

Great work!!

It looks great.
It's great to hand out with freedom footbag purchases I think.
What I think mey be a good idea if you intend on selling batches of these flyers to clubs would be to add 2 blank lines with a

"Meet your local club at: __________"
at this date/time : ___________"

that way clubs will want to hand out these flyers, (to get new members showing up) and you get your flyer out too. Win/win?

anyway looks great!
