The higher the score the more of a terrorist you are!!

Peter - 7/10
Johnny - 7/10
Henry - 8/10
Kaushik - 7/10
Melissa - 2/10
Stephen Blair - 8/10
Chris - 6/10
Dustin - 8/10
Jim - 7/10
Erik - 5 or 6/10
Sergy 6/10

Here are my explenations of each point :P

1. Basically if you call your chips "French Fries" you score a point. This is because as I recall there was apparantly some connection between what you call your deep fried potato and supporting the French who were opposed to the US in the "war on terror" against Iraq where there weren't actually any terrorists!

2. Cat Stevens is a famous musician from the 70s. I think I only have one piece of music of his on my computer - a track called "peace train" - Cat Stevens is also a muslim and a hardcore pacifist. He has been a strong support of peace in most conflicts and is opposed to all violence. Recently he was denied entry to the US because he was on their "terrorist" name list. - Owning Cat Stevens music gives you a terrorist point!

3. I'm sure you're all aware that Bush said regarding the war on Terror - "you're either with us or you're with the terrorist" or whatever it was to that meaning. Not supporting Bush is another point towards Terrorism

4. This is a reference to the many nationalist struggles against imperialism that have gone on and are going on through out the world. Initially I was thinking of South Africa - where some factions of the ANC and other organisations used terrorism for their cause. Another good example is the tactics used by the people of Vietnam in their war against the US.

5. This is in relation to the current situation in Colombia - where the US is giving full support to the corrupt Pastrano government in their war against the left wing rebels "FARC" - The economy of colombia is such that most peasants and farmers can only make a living growing coca for the drug trade. FARC - who control much of the country side - realise this and so have introduced a tax on all farmers who grow coca which they pass onto people growing other products in an effort to encourage them. The US deems this to be supporting or profiting from the drug trade. The US also passes a blind eye on the right wing militas that are supporting the government that are completely funded on drug money and are responsible for the exportation and sale of the majority of Colombias illict drugs. So if you don't support the cocaine industry and would rather see people grow something else you have the same opinions as the "terrorist" group - "FARC"

6. Also relates to the Colombian crisis. In order to help the Colombian government fight the "terrorists" the US has sold a large amount of herbicides and defoliants (similar to agent orange - possible left over from the US war in Vietnam) to the Colombian government. These are sprayed on farms in FARC controlled areas if they are suspected of growing coca. This means that the land is completely unusable - probably for generations to come. Colombia has the highest amount of internally displaced refugees in the world - and this is one of the major factors. The chemicals also get into the water supply and kill hundreds of people before anybody realises. - The US puts this down as helping the war on terror - if you are opposed to this - add another point!

7. Many "terrorists" around the world have fought or are fighting against this concept. The Vietnamese Liberation war against the French is a good example. This is basically the same as question 4 I guess. Even today in Sudan the left wing "terrorists" are fighting against the oppresion of the Islamic imperialists - although both sides have been using some fucked up tactics!

8. Obviously terrorists are prepared to die for their cause.

9. Not being from Afghanistan makes you more likely to be a terrorist. None of the s11 terrorists were from Afghanistan. Infact there are no major terrorist groups that have been lead or have strong Afghanistan membership. Fighting a terrorist war is expensive and Afghanistan is one of the poorest country in the world. It is full of landmines and unexploded cluster bombs, much of the land has been bombed so much you can't grow anything on it. The country has been suffering from long droughts. If you are not from afghanistan - add a "terrorist" point.... Ok it was a long day in the field and I had these silly girls complaining in my ear all the time ;)

10. This is both a reference to the fact that many people think that terrorism is an islamic concept or that most terrorists are Muslims. But also because the revolutionary group of Cuba led by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara - that overthrough the US backed dictator Batista - who were apparantly "terrorists" called themselves "La Barbudos" or "The Bearded Ones"

I"m 80% terrorist, tell me something I DON'T know. :P

I strike terror into the hearts of non-footbaggers and school administrators. (that's why they suspended me, they were afraid.)

Oh, and the reason Cat Steven's plane was diverted is because he legally changed his name to "Yusuf Islam" this is quite a common muslim name, and most likely there are folks with terrorist connections who also have this name. You can blame the big computer system that looks for these types of patterns. Still, it's amusing that they suspected Cat Stevens of being a terrorist. :P

The point was that it's stupid to define people as "terrorists" - terrorism is a way of fighting for your cause - it doesn't change the validity or lack of validity of the cause and if people make an effort to understand why the "terrorists" are resorting to those kinds of methods perhaps it would be possible to resolve the conflict without more people dieing.

The demonising of terrorism is probably making things a lot worse in my opinion. Look at the way Russia justifies its actions in Chechnya - or the way Israel justifies it's actions in "Palestine" - or indeed the US war in Iraq. All those conflicts are creating many more people prepared to go to whatever lengths - including terrorism - to fight for their cause. All of them have very valid causes in my opinion.

Yes, that is true but that problem is that what they do, jihad is most likely the common label, affects OTHER people whose views may not be as similar as the previous group's. Just because their views are significantly or even a small amount different from the previous', does not necessarily mean that they have a "green light" to go and attack that group. Neither does the latter have a certain or legitimate reason to take other human lives. Though in scientific theory, we are animals and in the animal kingdom, at times, it is necessary to take each other's lives, we are civilized. And it is quite ironic that even a civilized creature would be taking that lives of each other. In addition, it is not even for survival it is just for what they believe in. It would far more acceptable had that one group just promoted its religion and beliefs.
:?
Look, Jeremy mentioned that it is acceptable for the people to fight for their rights. Terrorism is such a tool. However, even we, Americans, Canadians, Finnish people, Autralians, footbaggers (i may have excluded other cultures. Sorry) also have their firm belief in certain things but we do not go in a holy war. In fact, from my point of view (and you can all post a reply to this), we only attack when we are attacked first. I.E, 9-11. We attacked Afghanistan because we believed that Osams was hiding there. This was, from my point of view, legitimate as he was the one who has attacked us in the first place. Had he not decided to attack us, both our beliefs may still have clashed yet we may not have gone to a war. If we just keep our beliefs yet do not go to extremes to promote it, the world may be a far more stable place.
:|
There is also something else that I should mention. It is the fact that since Osams attacked us, it is okay for us to attack back. That is merely human nature. If we are slapped in the face by a random person, chances are, we would bitch-slap them twice. This is just that on a world scale. We have been slapped in the national face. we have decided to slap back. Also, if one extremist decides to nuke you just because of that fact that we have accidentally done seomthing to them half a century ago, how owuld you feel? WOuld you attack back? Your belief would most likely be that that attacker is a SOB. And that is your belief. The attacker's beliefs are that he has to avenge that missing trillion drums of oil from his country. Both your beliefs are legitimate. However, if it was you who decided to attack first, it would not have made sense. It should actually have been that one extremist as he was the one who was missing the oil. As he attacked you, a reason opened up for you to attack him: He has attacked you.

Honestly, I don't know what the crap I was typing. Sorry if It was just random drivel. I've been reading too much George Carlin...
