How tight should my stiches be

Post by Kanicky »

Hey, I just started making footbags about 3 months ago casually, I've made 12 or so I think and I am working on my third 32 panel. I was just wondering how tight my stiches should be. Right now i'm using button thread and have noticed some definate broken seems on my earlier bags. I'm wondering if this is because they are too tight and the strain is breaking them apart or if they are too loose and that might be the problem.

At any rate, how tight should I be striving for, obviously enough so I can't see the seems from the outside of the bag, but after that how much more?

hey man, you might want to switch from button thread to something more sturdy, like upholstering thread or dental floss. you want at least a bit of gather (where the seams bunch up), but alot of it has to do with personal preference. some like more, some like less. look through the "new footbags" thread and have a peek at how some other brand new bags appear and get an idea of how you want yours to look. happy stitching.
