dustin's footbag stuff
alright so I have not started one of these for a long while, mainly because I didn't think I'd have a use for it or be able to keep it up. Then the other day I was reading through some of them, and I thought, "I really would like being able to track my progressions." So here I am making this blog, as you have probably guessed comments are always welcomed...
I guess I'll start with my session last weekend. It was really awsome, me and two of my friends who can footbag went to a free concert at Berkely. One of my favorite bands, Against Me!, was playing and so were the Blood Brothers, and True North. It was outside, so what did we do when we got there, but pulled out a footbag. The three of us were just hanging out, not going for too much stuff, but we decided it'd be fun to practice our spinning, so there we were spinning like crazy, probably looking insane to other people. We eventualy got 2 other people to join us, one left after like 15 minutes but we taught the other one too around the world, so that was cool. My friend came very very close to hitting double around the world. To sum it up, it was a free concert, we footbagged, and the music was awsome...
my best string this week: ATW>ATW>Pixie>ATW>Legover>ATW>Pixie>Pixie>ATW>ATW
some one please tell me if my jobs is wrong or something...
new tricks:
ss butterfly
clipper set ossis
mirage
almost hit clipper set butterfly
dimwalk

Alright so anyways I havn't had much time to practice lately, but I did manage to hit some new combos. When I was playing in monteray I was just messing around in a parking lot and managed to hit
osis>osis>osis
then when I got home I managed to hit
butterfly>osis
I was pretty stoked because these are the first 3>3 combos I've hit...

Lets see I've been shredding for since june so 4 to 5 months.Hey D man, this is daryl from munich !
Compliments on your first guiltless combo,
for how long you've been shredding
Thanks for the correction shaggster, I had no clue what to call it.no thats not a move, its a far legover
Anyways I video taped myself for the first time yesterday and I felt pretty good about the session so thats fun. The only problem is that now that I don't wear my lavers as normal shoes, I just can't shred with them on. I seem to do much better with my Puma California's, but I know Lavers are better. Worked SS buterfly into some combos...
New combo: ATW (weak side) > legover > pixie> ss butterfly > toe > pixie > legover

If you live that close to the city you're close to a lot of really great shredders. Have you gotten in contact with people to set up sessions? Or are you not feelin that right now?crazydwarf wrote:OK, it was really cool, we went down to san fansisco today and I hit Butterfly > SS butterfly.

I live like an hour away from the city, and I can't drive so I can't really go up there whenever I want... I wish I could, either that or head over to Santa Cruz and hang there... just wondering though what footbagers live in SF, I know there are some, but I can't seem to think of any...

Well I'm certainly no expert. But from the few months I've been here: I know that Sunil, Torch, Tu, and Tuan all live in the same house in San Francisco and Carol lives around there too. (I'm sure there are a ton of people I don't know about living in SF yet) So there's usually a good shred going on in one of a few places, but you have to make contact with someone and make sure to give everyone enough time to come out. I've had good times with them. I'm a millions levels below them but they've never made me feel like it. Or, I don't know which direction you live in, but if you can't make it to the city Steve Goldberg and his crew kick weekly on Tuesday afternoons 3-5 at Stanford University.crazydwarf wrote:just wondering though what footbagers live in SF, I know there are some, but I can't seem to think of any...
I know it's hard to get transportation and all but it's so nice to be able to take advantage of where we live (California is super) and get inspiration by being in a circle with a bunch of people busting big.

Well today it was awsome I hit some longer strings were I didn't favor one side or the other. I was manly working on my toe game, but I did come close to hitting ducking butterfly. In fact I got the stall, but I missed the hand catch... does this count or not... oh well. My longer strings were
ATW>ATW>ATW>ATW>pixie>ATW (flipside)>ATW(flipside)>leg over (flipside)>ATW
and
ATW>ATW>pixie>ATW (flipside)>ATW (flipside)>pixie (flipside)>ATW>ATW
ATW>ATW>ATW>ATW>pixie>ATW (flipside)>ATW(flipside)>leg over (flipside)>ATW
and
ATW>ATW>pixie>ATW (flipside)>ATW (flipside)>pixie (flipside)>ATW>ATW

Thanksgiving was pretty good to me. I hit my longest ever tiltless combo twice today. It was 18, and I hit ATW, and Pixie BSOS a couple times... unfortunatly I didn't have much variety, I only hit: ATW,pixie, pickup, and mirage. I couldn't really do clipper tricks since I was barefoot... oh well it was a good day any ways.

Ok, it was pretty cool, I was playing a little at lunch, mostly just kicking, but throwing in some tricks too. I hit Butterfly>SS Butterfly cleaner then I ever had before, so that worked out well. Also, a little while ago I hit ducking butterfly and that was really fun. I'm a little frustrated though because I don't wear lavers to school, so when I try to footbag in them they always feel really wierd. I end up overdoing dex's and such. That means I usualy have to wear my puma california's which have no toe at all, so my strings arn't that long... Oh well I'll get new lavers sometime

Alright I had the wierdest dream ever, I was out on a summer retreat thing and my volleyball coach was there, but he was my teacher. So anyways I walked into class and there was a mr. sandman on his desk. I was like score, someone else plays footbag. I asked him who he confiscated it from and he said it was from a friend of his sunil jani (he doesn't know him in real life). So then Sunil Jani came in and he was like this big celebraty dude... it was so wierd... anyways I'm really not sure if I should do volleyball this year or not, because it is a little to serious for me. Plus I'm not like super good or anything. It'd leave very little time for footbag and all... I don't know what to do...

yeh i love butterfly>ssbutterfly when I can hit it, it feels so awsome. So today at lunch I hit butterfly > mirage which was pretty cool, because I always have trouple playing out of my butterflys and I have been looking for a way to incorparate them into my strings. Now I usualy just do butterfly> far legover, but I think this might be easier. I hit it wearing pants and puma californias, because I was at school, so I should be able to hit it pretty easily in my footbagging shorts and my lavers.

alright, not that much to report, manly that I hit butterfly > mirage a bunch more times in pants at school. I really wanted to have a good long shred sessions but it was wet and rainy outside... I even hit butterfly > mirage in a string though and so that was really fun.

Today was a pretty cool day, I feel like I can flow a lot more now. Instead of trick stop, trick stop I can just go from trick to trick pretty well I hit some really small strings then passed, because I was playing in a hack circle. But I got off mirage>ATW>Butterfly>Mirage a couple times and pixie>pickup>butterfly>mirage a couple times. I was playing in pants and bad shoes yet again so it felt pretty good. I really need to start playing in my lavers more though, they help so much.
