hey, so i have been kicking with these old shoes i used to ride in..they are etnies,...not that bad of a design for kicking, but i got bored..and put acouple of those big staples in the spot for clippers cause it was alil sloped down and curved..evened out the amount of space showing on the staple to make it pretty flat and flush with the side of the sole...from there..i went and got some sort of silicone caucking that said it would stick to all surface...(i hoped it would with rubber and fabric)..so i just put it on..the staples were real good to help give it structure..soon ill paint the shoe...Image

You linked to the page that it was on. If you want to post the picture itself (which I'm assuming since you made a thread asking how) then put:

Without the spaced in between the tag and image location. Here's the result:

Wierd looking mod. It would be good for people who don't own good footbag shoes untill they can get a pair I'd imagine.

Ok, ok, I usually don't say anything, but DAMN!

<rant>
Any time someone says "check out what I did to my shoes", someone else invariably says "get some damn lavers, yo."

This upsets me.

Of course proper shred shoes are better than most other shoes, even with mods, but the post is to show off the interesting modification, not to say "hey, I bet my marginal shoes, with this crazy weird mod are better than lavers now!!"

It took me a while to get my CT-520s because I have very little money to spare. I have NEVER bought a footbag pre-made. All of mine are hand stitched by either me or my wife.

When someone posts a mod or a bag they just stitched, please don't immediately say "buy some lavers", or "get a richie" Because it's repetetive, and annoyying. :P
</rant>

On point, I did a mod just like that but with hot glue. The caulk seems to have worked pretty well.

Seriously I hate that. Like lavers are the only shoes out there and are the only shoes that will ever be used in freestyle... Personally i hated lavers, and they took a while for me to get used to. And I've always been able play in almost any pair of shoes, as long as the toe isn't completely rounded. i can hit almost all the same moves and strings in my shitty running shoes. The shoe or bag doesnt make the player, the skill/control/abilities/technique/etc. makes the player, the shoes and bag only help the player to be that much better, whether it be a huge difference or only a small one.

Instead of immediately saying "you should buy lavers!" which to me implies "sorry your shoes are shit and you dont really freestyle unless you buy lavers!" you should say "your shoes are may be cool but, do you know about lavers, climacools, or nb shoes? most ppl find these more suitable shoes for freestlye."

P.S. posting drunk is fun :)

1) sweet way to improvise, caucking isn't the first thing I would have though to use, but it looks like it's solid.

2) I call that the "laver-or-nothing" speech, way too much of it. if a person can post on the forum, then it is obvious they can read it too. so they can read all the other 100's of threads that say the same thing. that's basicly peer pressure isn't it? which isn't very nice...

Whatever gets the job done. As long as you like footbag enough to put caulking all over your etnies, you're fine by me. Looks like a cheap way to get a good stalling surface, there's always another way to do things, so keep an open mind, and that you did.

I honestly thought it was snow on top of an adobe. Then I thought, "It doesn't snow is places where there are adobes." Then I looked closer and saw that I was a moron.

Nice mod :oops:

Matt Cross and I both thought that this morning. We thought it was a snow capped something.

I love modding shoes, before I had lavers to mod I modded my skate shoes. In fact, I modded my skate shoes almost exactly a year ago to the day. If I had modded my shoes and you guys were dicks and yelled at me then I may have been scared away from frootbag.

Be careful with what you say in posts, it can carry alot of weight.

Your mods look functional, good work man. Isn't it fun improving things with your smarts?
