Splitting .mp3's

Post by brian relly »

I downloaded a 2-CD set that was converted to .mp3--but it's all on one track. So it's one file that's 2 hours long. I would really like to burn this to CD, but it's about 40 minutes too long. Does anyone know if there's some sort of program I can use to split the track into two separate files that I can burn to CD individually?

Thanks.

I think I used to use Goldwave -- it's probably on Download.com.

Yeah, Goldwave works good. You can use Cool Edit and do it too I'm sure.

http://www.suprnova.org to find a program.

I don't know if it runs on windows or not, but I would use mp3splt.

$ mp3splt -t 60.00 HUGE.mp3
to make files of 60 minutes each from a HUGE MP3. mp3splt can also split on silence or breakpoints from CDDB depending on what you have.

On Linux, I use XMMS and Audacity.
First, render the MP3 to WAV, so you have a 600 meg wav...
Then open in Audacity, cut each track out and save those wavs individually...
Then re-encode each track using some encoder like 'lame'.

That's how I do it anyway... In windows, I don't have a clue. :P
