Well the cricket season is now fully here!!

This can be the discussion topic!

At the moment Australia is playing New Zealand.

Frankly I think Australia are looking to win by at least an innings. Hopefully we'll get to play against some real competition soon...

Awesome, I can finally talk about cricket with people!!

I think Australia is going to win, but I haven't watched cricket in more than 2 yrs though. Last time I saw the Australian team in action, they still had Mark and Steve Waugh and Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, etc. Australia was the dominating force, so I'm guessing not much has changed by now.

I'm not a big cricket fan, but I'd say Australia is going to kick arse.
Especially concidering they're only just back from a tour of the India (one of the top countries in the world)... NZ is going to loose. Australia is the best crickiting nation in the world.

But seriously, Australia gave the Kiwis a good thumping. I don't think the Kiwis will do anything in Australia, maybe on their own wickets they have a chance, but I think the rest of the series will follow in the same fashion.

Trivia style: Clarke became only the third Aussia to score a ton on his home and away debut. Name the other two?

Speaking of India, South Africa (without Boucher) is playing them at the moment (in Kanpur). Looking at the pitch, I think the selectors wished they could take an extra spinner. Nicky Boje had to withdraw, because he faced possible prosecution if he goes to India (because of the whole Hansie Cronje saga). Same reason for the absence of Herschelle Gibs. I think our bowlers are going to struggle on that pitch.

yes it's certainly unfair that South Africa's corrupt cricketers aren't allowed to play in India without fear of being arrested for cheating

I think India are probably the world number 2 at the moment (in actual ability - I have no idea what the "official" rankings are like) so it will definitly be a tough series for South Africa.

Just incase you don't know and care - Australia won the first test. I think it would be incorrect to say that Glenn McGrath one - he only scored 61 runs in the second innings while NZ scored a massive 76!

Seriously though - as somebody who has watched GM constantly get out for under 10 - his innings was hilarious. If I were selecting for NZ I would drop everybody who bowled to him!

Gillespie played well too!

'Twas a good game too. It's always so much easier to be a good winner than a gracious looser. I had a good win on saturday which lead, naturally, to a big night on saturday/sunday morning, so i was too hungover to keep awake for the finish of the black caps vs aussies. Infact, i'm still too hungover now, 36 hours after i started drinking, to keep this post conherant. But I know i'm happy, we won. Go the kiwis.

Yeah dude. I can't believe I gave up on watching this game thinking it would be an easy Aussie win. I do that way to often. It's good the series is equal too - I hope we see a good show from the Aussie batters next game - been a little dissapointing so far.

Yea it was a good game. Pity Harry popped his shoulder; i can't help but think he would of made the differance.

What about Gilchrist, Jeremy? He's put on a stunning show i'd say. Infact I'd say he's a fucknig champion, even if he is a Occa.

Yeah he batted well!! I love watching that kind of aggressive batting. I guess that's why the batting dissapointed me - because the other players with that kind of aggressiveness - ie. Lee, Symonds and Clarke all got low scores. I think Lee was not out - so that's ok but seeing them bat well is the main thing I look forward to watching cricket.

I was seriously tempted to go and watch the final game at the Gabba (as it's just up the road), but I can't justify the $50 for half a day's cricket, and that's only if it's a close one.

Besides, I think it's aready sold out.

Should be a good match. Although I'm not willing to pick a winner. I think it'll be damn close (at least I hope it is), but I'd really like to see NZ come up on top. Australia has won enough lately. It's about time they lost SOMETHING.

Yeah it sucks that the game was rained out but what can you expect from Queensland weather - they should have played the game in Forth - we had sun all day

I think the overall result is fairly good - the first two games were really close and it was pretty hard to say who would have won overall - I would have gone with Australia because of our depth but New Zealand definitly have risen to the challenge both games - it's very hard to write them off.
