when I do have a bad day i tend to not shred as long as I would if I was having a good day, and i get all discouraged and think that i've hit a mental wall that I wont pass but I always end up having a really awesome session soon after my shitty one so i think it all balances out at the end and I'm really trying not to let my shitty sessions get me down.
Oh and breaking stuff results in broken stuff, thats no good

For years I used to take out my rage on my skateboard and be mean to it when I couldn't hit tricks.
for some reason I didn't transfer this rage over to footbag.
I can get frustrated by footbag but I just let it drive me mad with intensity and the *need* to hit that trick. I find that if you get angry you can't focus and if you can't focus you can't hit anything.

Man, even when our principal is watching us shred at school and I don't hit a string I wanted put together for so long, I don't care who's around I scream, "Fuck, this piece of shit!!! Mother fucker!!! Goddamn this piece of fucking shit!!!! I'll %$@#%^&*(*%(%^(* my ass!"
and so forth.
However, Now, I've upgraded it to throwing my sandbags at other people or walls. I have to admit, my accuracy is greatly improving.....

I cuss. I have a very dirty mouth.
Once, I was so mad I punched a mattress and my fist broke the farbic and I cut my fingers. Ouchie.
I'm used to abuse bags. I used to throw my bags agaisnt the wall or something. I stoped doing that now.

Some serious thoughts.
0. When you play in public, there`s always the chance that somebody may take interest in footbag, and want to give it a try themself. People will be much more likely to ask to play with you, or ask about the sport, if you look like you are having fun. If I see a guy in short shorts screaming obscenities at a beanbag, I avoid him. If I see somebody having fun, I may ask them about the sport.
1. I think that getting angry and losing your temper while playing footbag greatly slows your development. I don`t know anybody who plays better when they are angry. Speaking personally, my biggest development has always occurred when I was feeling positive.
2. If you do get angry, never kick things. I kicked a concrete pillar once, which seriously injured me. So if you do lose control and need to lash out, punch, throw, or headbutt things, but don`t risk your legs, cause you need them for footbag.
3. I think this topic could be real useful if people start listing ways they can deal with their frustration and anger. That said, here`s some things I do.
a. Sit down, take off my lavers, stretch and breathe deeply.
b. Think about all the other things I could be doing right now which are less fun than footbag. Going to class, studying, going to work, sitting in traffic, getting lectured at, etc. This is similar to `c`, my next point.
c. Appreciate the fact that you are doing your hobby. Footbag is something you love, so even if you are having a frustrating session, you`re still having more fun than if you were doing something else.
d. Try hitting something different. For example, if a particular set is giving you problems that day, try a different set. If you can`t hit long combos that day, try for big moves. See how long you can play `dex-less.` Or see how many double dexes in a row you can hit.
e. Play foursquare

I get the most frustrated when I have one of those days where I, literally, can't link 5 tricks. When I used to play in my basement I woud get mad and hit boxes really hard but then I felt bad because I didn't want to hurt anything in the boxes. I like I mostly just stop and breathe deeply, because usually when you can't do something it is all mental and if you can overcome that and relax you will perform much better. I growl a lot, though, when I'm angry! GRRRRR!

I haven't been playing much, due to my knee, but I have been trying mullet.
I know it's way above my level of play, but I can't do much else at the moment.
So, when I get frustrated, I usually squeeze the bag with all my rage, and then put it down and walk away for a moment. Take a few deep breaths, and close my eyes, focusing on the trick. I see myself hitting it. I see where the bag needs to go, and what I need to do.
Then I open my eyes, and take another deep breath. I empty my mind, and try again.
Of course, I usually fuck up again, and cry out in exasperation, but I rarely swear (out loud), and only occasionally throw my bag.
But yeah, take a step back and re-focus.

i used to swear alot, usually at my self. i found this wasn't helping my relationship with me. so i've chilled out when playing in a circle abit, but it's still very visible when i'm frustrated.
schooling on the other hand, is very different. lots of swearing, yelling, throwing shit, etc. especially when i'm getting towards the end of the list and i'm tired and sloppy and unclean. there's a reason i don't film any more when i'm playing solo ...
