Baba O'Riley. Nice. We were just listening to that song the other day in Lit.
This looks like a video that would make me feel very nostalgic if I'd actually been there for all that, but alas, I wasn't.

The best part for me was seeing Stan busting. NYFA sucks!

Historical note: pouring a beer on the curb in honor of players who missed worlds dates back at least as far as 2000 worlds, or 99.

Historical note #2: Pdx barrage to legbeater is indeed impressive. Tuan Vu hitting blurrage to legbeater back in 1997 was mind-numbingly impressive.

I think it`s called flotation. Maybe he`s hit it better than that, but that last butterfly looked like it was behind him, or so low that I`d have trouble giving him the dex.

the butterfly is visibly clean in the full quality version and it was the first time he hit it. he has since hit it cleaner and on video.

I loved the movie it was great! About time The Who got onto a footbag video.

But..

How come it looks a bit weird, like people are squashed, or something? Is that the camera doing that. or the compression?

Baba O'Riley fun facts:
the song is most commonly known as teenage wasteland. the title is named after Mehar Baba, Pete townsend's indian spiritual guru, and Terry O'Riley who was one of the first electronic music specialists. he gave them the idea for the synthesizer(sp?). the rhythm played by the synthesizer was created by putting mehar baba's personal info (age, height, weight, etc) into the computer and it spat out the rhythm used in the song. the idea was to make music on a more personal level with the audience by taking random audience memebers personal info and plugging the data, the idea (and the whole Life House concept) never got off the ground and some of the songs originally written for the Life House double album (such as baba) were thrown onto Who's Next? It's possibly the who's most popular song (beside don't get fooled again and pinball wizard) but was never released as a single.

Heh, here's a little story behind the name of the trick.

When I was 9 years old I made it to the Ontario provincial spelling bee in Toronto. This was a really big thing for me. There were about 30 kids in my age division. Things started off well; I held my own while others were gradually eliminated. I remember one word, "cull" that no one could seem to spell for some reason. I approached the mic and smoked the word, eliminating about 8 people in the process.

There were only me and 7 others remaining. Feeling confident, I walked up to the mic for the next word.

"Jorden, your word is floatation"

*Pssh -- no problem*

"Floatation: F-L-O-A T-I-O-N"

Shit. I messed up by not saying "A-T" twice. Oh well, I got to sit with my parents in the audience and be amongst the other crybabies.
Heh, I guess now I'm used to making the top ten and then messing up.

I think the thing I like best about the video, aside from the music (which gave the video a really fun feel as if I would have nostalgia, if I had actually been there, from watching it), was the very last clip with the Worlds banner -- it creates a real sense of unity between this and the first Worlds video you made. I really really liked that. I also liked when the music built up the first time and you flashed the Worlds and Flipsider banners to the beat -- that was nice!

Jorden: have you seen that spelling bee documentary-movie thing? I forget what it's called, but it was super hardcore!! One of the parents paid, like, thousands of people in India to pray for his son to win and made the kid study, like, 8 hours a day or something........
Anyway that was a rad story!

Seriously awesome video Andrew. I think from the few videos of yours I have seen - you definitly have some good talent and ideas.

One thing I found was that sometimes the cutting between shots was a little fast - I'd still be trying to understand what I just saw and there would already be more big footage being hit. I ended up having to watch a few of the runs over to see what was hit. Maybe you were aiming for this kind of effect - but personally I prefer to know what I'm seeing.

I hope that all makes sense. Great work anyway - and awesome music choice too!!
