I think a common mistake is to look at a terribly improbable event and declare thqat based on statistics and probability, it could not have happened randomly. What this fails to take into accunt is that almost everything that happens is incredibly improbable. Jeremy already commented on this, but here is an example that made it clear for me in the past. Flip a coin 30 times. The chance of you getting the exact sequence you did is about 1 in a billion. Yet nobody will argue that was not random. Same with evolution, the path it took was incredibly improbable, yet there were so many other improbable paths that the fact the path it took was highly improbable is meaningless.BainbridgeShred wrote: "Looking at how old the universe probably is, couldn't it have just come up by chance? What was there before the big bang, isn't a question that makes sense. Before space existed there was no time.
Everything needs a cause isn't a good arguement because then why doesn't your god need a cause?
