Jezza - December 13. EDIT - Spinning Vid too!

Post by Jeremy »

I did some filming today. It's only my 6th serious kick in the last 25 days so as you can imagine I was a bit rusty. I didn't film for very long because it is too frustrating but I put a vid together. Incase you can't tell - I rolled my ankle halfway through but luckily no damage was done. I should have slow moed it or something. Really this vid is just for my own use - so that when I can kick every day again I will be able to notice my improvement. Also I was drilling my pixie sets through out most of the session - so that's why I do a lot of easy pixie moves - although I do that anyway :P

Um - I have no idea why I hit the same pdx mirage 6 times in the last run

Also the music is the theme from Monsters Inc. I think. It's a really good routine song that I found and have a routine planned too - so I'd appreciate it if you didn't do a routine to it - at least at big competitions where the routines get put up on the net - or at competitions that I go to. I dunno - I mean I don't own the music - but it would still be annoying if somebody used it.

hmm - I haven't exactly sold this vid very well have I...

Oh one last thing - watch my vortex. Please help me with my spinning - it sucks - vortex is like the only semi hardish spinning move I can hit with any kind of consistancy at all.

Here is the link

5.6 mb - just over 2 minutes long.

The video was good Jeremy! The music, in my opinion, was awesome and it well with all the "iffy" hand movements you do

As for your spinning, the only thing I can really tell you from that one Vortex is that perhaps you should try to set the bag a bit closer to your body when you spin, as it looks like it's a bit further out then waht you may feel comfortable with? Perhaps try holding your setting foot more as you spin - the way I learnt this was trying to hold the bag in a frigidosis position as I finish spinning. Naturally, I'm not that flexible or good at frigidosis so I ended up setting the bag but it did help to learn how to set better and made spinning ducking a reality for me.

I hope that makes sense :?

thanks!

I didn't actually hit the sailing drifter just foot it. Actually I had a few attempts for the camera that were closer - but the set keeped going away from me out of the drifter so I couldn't get a good one. I just put that in because it shows I was pretty close and I was really impressed with the set height - actually it's too high for the move but I think I should try ducking my sailing more - I could definitly have done a "Wulff" duck on that set I think - so it wouldn't take much more to get it into a more normal height. I'd really need to drill my atomic ducking - which I never attempt - I don't know why.

No work again today due to rain so I'll try and make a vid of just spinning stuff and post it in this topic.

Wow! Awesome video Jeremy! I love Sailing set :).

I have one sugestion. Sometimes it's really hard to say what you hit (especially when a move you do is such a massive trick!), because of too little number of fps. Please set it to 25 or something like that and it would be cool!

yeah I wish! I'm only filming with a digital still camera - so I can't change the frame rate. I'll write out what I hit if that is any help:
Maybe people don't want to read this until after they've watched the vid - I don't know. Thanks for the props anyway. I just wish I had have filmed more the few weeks before I started work where I was hitting longer harder runs with more variety. Anyway it's something to work on.

Jeremy, I love your style! There's just something about it that seems so smooth. Although, I would like to see some more stuff coming off of your clipper!

Keep these video's coming!

Thanks Hagsey - I would say without doubt I've improved since Brisbane. Although since I started work I've definitly gone waaaaaay down hill - especially variety and run length. But haveing been better before - I know I can get back up to that level again as soon as I get some time on my hands

Here is my spinning video. For some reason a few frames got chopped out. Sorry - you can tell what I'm hitting in those instances anyway - just I'm not as fast as it looks :P (I'm talking about in the whirlwind and the first inspinning clipper mainly) - To be honest I think my spinning doesn't look too bad - the problem is maybe I just need to drill it lots and get it more consistant - not that I haven't been drilling it lots already - just I need to drill it way more.

I think one of the best parts of my game is the fact that I am pretty equal of clippers and toes. However just for you I filmed a 3 kind of clipper only drills - They aren't that great but the first two are working on moves I'm not good at and the last one was just me trying to fill up some space on the camera after the whirlwind I think - all first attempt.

just over 6 mb big and 2 min 30. - Song is the Kill Bill theme - you've heard it before in an Ellis video ("Aki")

edit: on hindsight - the butterfly>whirl drill wasn't first attempt and I don't know what was with the ripwalk drill - It's certainly a long way from my best but I chucked it in anyway - to show that I can hit stuff from clippers. Infact in my first vid I realise all my hard moves were off clippers apart from the sailing butterfly. Also blurry whirl is probably my easiest five and but I've dropped it on the last run of both vids :( I guess I choke with that move.

jeremy. i like your style. lots of shuffle = yummy! i think it was a solid mix of toe and clipper moves. it looks very well balanced, and is entertaining to watch. the sailing drifter is huge! so solid! what other sailing moves have you hit clean recently? any way, vortex was a little shakey, but who am i to talk, my spinning is worse. any way, you're game is looking pretty darn good!

Thanks Andrew! I made a post a while ago in the new move section I think listing all the new sailing moves I've hit - but I edited it because I don't really want to make them public until I can get them on video - if people ask if whatever move has been hit and I've hit it - I'd say so - but otherwise I think video verification is the way to go.

Lynton Stephens thinks that any move that can be hit with a stepping set could be hit with an atomic set instead - for example - gauntlet and icarus. I have a theory that any move that can be hit with an atomic set can be hit with a pixie set. I'm yet to find a move where I don't think this is true - although I haven't hit most of the hard atomic set moves from a sailing set.

Rory - I'm glad you like the hat. I hate playing in a hat but we have a big hole in our ozone layer over Australia (thanks world :? ) - so if I played with a hat for a while and then put on massives of suncream and didn't play for that long in it (like probably half an hour without a hat at the most). Australia - sunny - but that isn't all good.
