Shows You've Seen, Recently
edit:
Talk about shows you've been to recently. Good or Bad.
A couple weeks ago I saw Murder by Death open for the Weakerthans. Both bands rocked. The cello player for Murder by Death is mesmerizing.

A couple nights ago I saw Vienna Teng. She has so much charisma. Hard not to give her your full attention. This was the first time I saw her with a full band. They sounded great.

The only real concert I've ever been to was with the Weakerthans. They're totally from my town. They are my girlfriend's favourite band. They played at an art gallery here last month for $5 admission
I also went to school with Marcel Dzama, who does their cover art and was in Canadian magazines for some project of, like, over 1000 illustrations he did!

Hmm.
Korn, Trust Co., Jurrasic 5, Incubus, Raffi, The Elephant Show Live, Phantom Planet, A whole bunch of crappy rappers at some rap show that my ex dragged me to (only white guy in the place, was quite scary), tulli (another crappy band that the same crappy ex took me to see), not by choice (came with the gf again), Tone Dealer (awesome band, containing the brother of said girlfriend), aaaaaaaannnd... thats it.
I want to go see Blue Man Group next year.

Oops, sorry. Most recent show was last summer for the Summer Sanitarium tour. It was in Toronto, and it kicked serious ass! I got pulled over the front guard-rail by security because I went over the edge while crowd surfing, and I walked directly underneath James Hetfield while they were playing Creeping Death, I think I got spit on, haha.
my bad. i read the "recently" in the subject just recently.Dat wrote:I guess it's my fault for stating in my first post, but I wanted people to talk about the show's they've been to recently instead of just listing all of them.

i just went and saw Pete Samples for his tripumphant to return to winnipeg. he rocked the house. he was mixing on 2 turntables, a power book, a roland and was throwing dow on guitar as well. it was crazy he set up the tables and hooked up his guitar to the roland and started ripping it to shit. he kept the guitar on loop and was tearing the riff to rips with the roland and whips out a mega phone and started rapping into it. it was super fucking crazy! every one went nuts. he also ripped apart foxy lady by hendrix and again, insanity from the crowd. he was crazy wicked!

There have not been any good shows in Ottawa as of late. Well, by good, I mean any shows that I would want to attend. The winter is terrible for bands touring here, we only get a lot of shows in the summer.
Lucky bastard to whoever saw Aphex Twin live!

Hell yeah. He played a crazy version of "Fuer Elise" Aphex Twin-style,vanderwax wrote:Lucky bastard to whoever saw Aphex Twin live!
which I'm trying to hunt down ever since. He would just lie flat on
a carpet at the side of the stage with all the machines lying on the floor
around him, fiddling, tweaking. At 5 in the morning. madness.

I've seen Paco Pena Flamenco Guitar Trio recently. It was damn expensive,
but enlightening.

I almost went to that bottom of the hill show.
I catch mostly underground shows at piemorrow in oakland.
They do shows about once a month and draw between 100-700 people per show.
last night they had emcee battles and dj battles, followed by a freestyle contest between the emcees from the different acts.

I just saw Weezer a few hours ago. It was awesome! It was my first time seeing the weez.
Rivers seemed all unenthusiastic, but I recall that that's just the way he is. Brian and Scott were awesomely enthusiastic though.
The music was awesome, and sounded really good in The Aragon. They played so many hits. Blue Album galore! The show closer was the shit! Every single person was jumping around dancing. They set up the guitars by the speakers for some feedback, and the guitars sung! The band left, and the guitars song winked out with the lights.
