Hey thanks David!! I'm really inspired by how fast you are progressing -- when will I get to see another sick video?? (That one that started out with the black and white run of you in slowmotion was really impressive!) I'm glad the site was able to inspire and aid you in your game :D Anything I should work on?

Andrew: I wrote a little thing about the Christmas tree Ken gave me in the blog -- I guess that's what resulted from searches.

I got Natural Born Kickers today. It's so crazy to have so many new videos!!! I have 6 shred DVDs now :D I wrote a little review in the videos forum. I also got a PM from Ryan Thomas, finally, today. He had gone away for U.S.A. Thanksgiving, or something. I think he said he was sending my Worlds DVD out today -- that means one week until another new video!!!! School ends on Wednesday, then I get a SPECIAL THREE-DISC THOMASS WORLDS DVD on Friday! Then my girlfriend comes home on Tuesday!!

I am going to go hug my DVDs now <3

Sure.
I will probably be busy Saturday and Sunday because I work both days and I have finals and all my projects due next week, but tomorrow and Friday I will probably just relax.

I get to jam with Derek tomorrow! He's started filming and editing videos! I look forward, very much, to seeing more footage of Derek. He made a video tonight from a solo session he had at school but wasn't very happy with the shred. Suffice it to say that it was a million times better than any shred I will ever be capable of, I can't wait for something he is happy with!! @_______@ (The mind boggles!)

I have my athletic therapy appointment (FINALLY) tomorrow. Unfortunately I have not been healing OR doing my exercises. Kevin Regamey called me tonight and we talked for exactly 2 hours. He convinced me that icing is VITAL to healing. I am so pumped about icing now. It's so easy. I hate weight-exercises -- they are hard for my weak body. I don't mind stretching as much, but I am lazy and skimp out.

I played a bit tonight until Kevin called. I was frustrated. I have been trying to concentrate on longer runs. I really want a higher average run length. I want to be able to pump out 20-contact guiltless on command with lots of hard tricks and links. I want to be able to do 30-40 on command of easier tricks. I think 40-something (42?) is my longest guiltless run. I had a run tonight that was 40 -- pretty weak since I'm injured, but I had some neater links near the end. Actually I think that 42 contact included lots of harder tricks -- that was from before I was injured. I think I hit a bunch of 5s, actually. That may be in the new runs thread somewhere.

Anyway -- I just spent about 6 hours straight on the phone and I am dead tired. I don't feel like showering or stretching and I feel sick. I am going to go to bed and sleep until about 1. I have not jammed with Derek (not counting about 30 minutes at that demo) since, like, May!

Jamming with Derek was super cool. I played too hard, though. Bleh! My athletic therapy appointment was good. I finish school in a few days -- then I am going to exercise HARDCORE and fix my body up. Derek was probably really frustrated and would say he didn't play well (maybe?) but he was hitting some crazy stuff. I wish he would play more -- he could be soooooo much better if he actually played...He was super close to nuclear ducking torque. He also nucleared out of nuclear torque -- he was trying nuke torque > 69, I think. He hit barfry > barfry > 69 rolled off in that video he made. He hit a sweet combo that I think he is going to use for the sick 3 comp just as someone from my work walked up. I guess I have to keep the combo secret, but it's all triple dexes. This guy walks up and I say hi and he's, like, "Can you do that?" and I laugh and I'm, like, "I'm injured". It was pretty cool to expose some actual shred to somebody from work. I have showed them my videos before, but I don't think anyone really understands what it's all about.

ANYWAY.

I had janiwalker and whirr both roll off. I've never hit either before. I did lots of things I shouldn't've tried. I hit pixie ducking clipper beesauce. Derek almost had phoenix > backside blur [repeat]. He also almost hit flip montage. I almost hit montage -- it rolled off a bunch.

That's about it. I'm going to stretch and exerciseand ice now!!!! The cool thing about having to exercise so much to heal is that I can watch movies in my room while I do it. I love watching movies, but otherwise I never have time or feel like making the time to watch. I think I will watch Minority Report tonight. I lvoe Minority Report. I watched Blade last night -- I've never seen Blade 2, so I'm going to download that when all my Gilmore Girls episodes are finished! I envy Marita and her DC++!

haha, you make it sound like I took you away from footbag. Did I?

Furthermore, did you take footage of that session? Because if you did, you know what to do. :P

Derek filmed.
I am watching that older video he made.
He totally hit symp flurry > dimwalk > shuffle yesterday. He also had frontside fury roll off both sides @_______@ It was super neat because he was doing symp flurry on one side and symp fury on the other mostly. He hit genesis again and soo close flipside (not sure if he's hit it before or not). He also hit ripstein a bunch. He was trying ripstein > double blender.

Derek has the coolest professor. They planned a snowball fight in class and Derek filmed it. Then when we were shredding after he came up and talked to us and asked to see the part where he was hit in the face. I think Derek also said he bought him lunch and they went shopping together before!! Cool professors make ALL the difference!!!!!

Hey Andrew -- that hallway is totally, like, the second level from the first Super Mario Bros., hey?? I was doo-dooing the song from the underground level during one run -- it was awesome!

EDIT: Oh yeah, that's another awesome thing. I'm so excited about Derek editing his own videos now! Derek, Andrew and myself all have cameras and maybe some day we will all be pumping out tons of videos!

I just got Ryan Thomas' Worlds DVD in the mail (and a scented letter from Marita!!) My first impression (before watching, because my computer is really slow at the moment) is, "weird!". Not only did the envelope include a DVD case with 2 DVDs and a jewel case with the bonus DVD, but I also got a pill of dimphenhydramine HCI, a plastic knife, a joker froma deck of cards and a USA dime. Very strange. Am I alone in recieving these gifts with the video?? Anyway, I'm about to watch it now. I will write more some time -- finals tomorrow! GAH!

EDIT: Oh wait! I also got a big paper clip and a reciept from Subway. Ryan spent $5.08 with his Mastercard in Houston, Texas at Subway, on November 18th.

EDIT 2: HAHAHA!!! YES! I am looking through the second disc -- I saw some kid hitting huge moves in the chapter selection preview and I was, like, "who is that??" Then I played the section and it was Derek! Ha. Not only that but it was Derek to PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA'S "PEACHES"!!!! I LOVE THAT SONG! IT MAKES ME THINK OF NINJAS! (and then R.E.M.! REM rocks!!)

EDIT 3: AHHHHHHH!!!! The third disc is entitled "Erik special"!!!! This is sooooo awesome!!!!!! AND IT'S TO THE POSTAL SERVICE!!!!!!!!!! Definately going to have to write a review soon!

I haven't been at the computer for, like, a week. I am at Marita's house and I will probably just be here until January when she goes back to school. I am pretty excited to start that classic video thread thing later, when I have time. I haven't played in ages. Did you try to call a bunch today, Andrew? I kept missing calls from people -- someone called a lot!
We are going to watch Supersize me now.

i think/ ope he means "i am angry because i can't seem to find time to play footbag because i am busy living life". no worries about christmas shred, just don't become a Mark "with a 'Q' how gay is that?" Leeman.

speaking of mark, i saw him at a party the other day. he really wants to play and says he thinks about it alot, but he always gets the urge when he's busy.

p.s. the next fully scheduled jam session is sunday the 26th of december. maybe with the advanced notice you'll be able to come out?

hah its funny you guys rag on mark for not playing anymore. In Eugene we had a guy who was ten times better than me or nate. At least 1 1/2 years ago or so, but then he just stopped playing because of life. It became such a big deal to get him out to shred. He would even answer the phone, tell us he was meeting us somewhere in an hour, and then never show up. :x Now nate and I have probably surpassed his peak level, but I found it very upsetting when he quit. I'm still mad about it now since Aaron is in Iraq, and Nate is at his moms for the break. Looks like holiday solo shred for me. Damn quitters.

Oh yeah, don't quit Erik! I doubt you will, but if you make a little extra time for it you will get inspired again. Footbag addiction needs to be maintained to exist.

Bleh.
Naw -- of course I'm not quitting. I managed to squeeze two hours of my day into running back to my house to shred, stretch, copy some movies, have a long bath (hadn't bathed in a week), eat dinner and do some laundry. I played footbag for about 10 minutes, got really frustrated with having to listen to Christmas music, having to help my family put Christmas boxes back downstairs and having people walking back and forth in my way. I also felt a lot of pain in my hip after that 10 minutes -- probably because I did, like, stepping and whirls and stuff after not playing for a while.
I didn't even have time to have a bath. I had a quick shower and had to run back over to Marita's house. It put me in a really bad mood and I don't want to have to be that stressed out to play footbag or feel rushed. Sunday sounds AWESOME. I think Marita has to go to her family's anyway, and I don't think I'm invited. I work until 5, so if that works I'm game! I miss playing so much :(
We were supposed to play today to get some exercise in for once, but we spent a lot of the time making cookies and Marita was transfixed with my brother playing Ninja Gaiden 2 on NES and asked if we could play Yoshi's Island, to which I replied, "Yoshi's Island is for SNES" (Marita doesn't play video games at all and doesn't really like that I do). I convinced her that Mario 3 is the prequel to Yoshi's Island (from before Yoshi was born...) and she ended up having a blast with it but kept hitting me when I would suck her into the double games and when she kept jumping into the crabs. *Did anyone else ever celebrate the ladder double game by playing tag and not touching the boxes?? That was so much fun!!)
I am in the basement now -- I convinced them that I was checking my grades from first term. I actually meant to, but they aren't available yet, apparently...)
OH! Marita's mom bought me skates today! So we went skating (it's, like, -35 celcius right now...) It was super fun and we weren't cold at all because we a;; ;ayed up, like, 7-8 tops, snowpants, a couple scarves and hats and I had 2 mitts and 3 layers of socks (including wool). It was sp much fun, but the ice was really bumpy and it was dark so we couldn't see the bumps. I have skated once in my life before that and I was so young I just walked around the rink holding onto the wall. We are going skiing on Monday, I think. We are skating more tomorrow and maybe tobogganing. It's my mom's birthday and parents' wedding anniversary, so I am going to bake a cake and finish my cookies.
We are having Christmas dinner on Saturday and opening presents. Marita is going to come over to my house (for once) and it should be a BLAST!
It's freezing down here. I am going to finish my stretches (maybe) and climb into bed with Marita. I am very hungry and cold.
I got really rad Christmas presents, but nobody else has put anything under the tree yet! (Video to come...)
Merry Christmas!

Andrew: can you PM me or try phoning again, some time, about the jam on Sunday? I would really like to make it. Let's get Mark out, too!

MAKING SNOW

Post by Muffinman »

We were at my mom's birthday dinner last night and my dad starts telling us about how if you throw hot water into the air it explodes like fireworks and instantly turns to snow!! We were all, like, "Riiiiight". I mean it sounds really dumb, right? But then we tried it...
I think I must have thrown, like, 6 cups of water last night! It's SOOOOO amazing!! The very first time my brother tried it I was, like, "WHOOOOOAAAAA!!!!!!" It's sooooo crazy!! There was this time where a car's lights were shining through the mist and it was all rainbowy and really pretty!!!! Anyway, I filmed the second or third time around and wanted to show people how cool it is! It has to be, like, -40 celcius and it has to be BOILING water...we tried hot tap water and it didn't work. HAVE FUN!
