Not Modding Lavers

Well I got my new Lavers today and I was thinking about cutting out those inside canvas walls but they just look so nice and pretty the way they are. Yeah they are stiff but over time they will break in right...Has anyone not cut their lavers up and had good results (short of the toe side things to widen the toe box). Any info would be super.

you would be amazed how nice the mesh feels when it is just one layer, believe me.

I left my outside wall unmodded for support but having the toe and inside areas modded is a real nice change to the shoe. I recomend going for it.

Oh I know man I did it to my last pair of Lavers but I am just having second thoughts about doing it to the new pair I just got. On hoods sight it says it takes awhile for them to break in but i have time and another pair to shred in at the moment. I just want to know if I leave them alone and break them in good will it just get to the point of them feeling like the canvas is gone.

Its not nessecary though, I never have nor will do that mod, and my clippers and toes are fine. Seb D. also doesnt do that mod.

As long as you do the inner canvas mod, nobody will ever see it, and if you do it really well and clean cut, if someone does happen to sneak and take a peek at the inside of your shoe, they won't notice because of the precise uniform cuts. If you've felt the difference of having the mod, then it's up to how much of a difference you feel it makes. If you like the mod, do it, if you felt it didn't help out much in any way, don't. (go for it)

I played with my first pair of lavers for a few years without doing that particular mod. You'll do fine without cutting out that layer, some people just really prefer the feel of that mod (me included).

being that you know how it feels with the mod done, and now without the mod done, I think you should just go with your preference and not worry about it too much. You can always do the mod when the shoes are all beat to hell.

I couldnt stand them bieng so hard on the insides so I just did it. Its all fine too...I should have done it sooner...damn it

will someone post a link on how to do these mods without tearing up your lavers, i just got my first pair, and i don't wanna ruin them, i am sorta scared to do any mods, but after reading this thread, i think that i should

I did it a little different though. I just used cold water to get the inside canvas wet so the glue would loosen and a razor blade to cut the inside and needle nose pliers to yank and these big honkin kitchen scissors that were really sharp for other cutting stuff. There is another guide on www.footbag.org but its hard to find stuff there and I dont know the URL.
I know recomend it to anyone. Best mod there is.

i have 2 names for you.

Derek. Vandall.

Derek doesn't cut his shoes at all. not even to open the toe box. he just laces them up and is ready to play, straight out of the box. no modding neccesary. i keep telling him to give me his old shoes so i can go off on them and show him some other options, but he really doesn't care. and i think most people would say derek is a good shredder.

absolutely no mods. normal lacing. for 2 months now. he said for schooling he likes it better and when the next summer comes, he'll mod them for competition.... well i guess it'll make him even better

A few days ago I was shredding in my brand new lavers unmodded. I thought it would be a lot of trouble, but it turned out my game was practically unaffected. I had a few roll offs on clipper moves because they're so stiff and not broken in. I could feel the extra weight, but it didn't cause me to miss any moves I would've hit. When I put on my old worn down canvas-cut-out lavers they felt like I was wearing nothing and I played with a lot more confidence. However, all-in-all I was surprised at how small a difference the modifications made, especially the opening of the toe box. I use an abshire mini, so I think the toe box is big enough for me without opening it up. It's really all personal preference.

Yeh that's exactly what I did, and even though my shoes were like 2 years old at the time I got them, and were starting to get holes, I still noticed a difference in there softness...
